I'd describe this book as practical. The cover is precious but the format inside isn't as aesthetically pleasing as I'd hoped, though there are lots of pages with prompts and lines to write on, if that's what you're looking for. The illustrations are absolutely lovely and the colour yellow is also pretty neutral for those who care about that.

One problematic thing I noticed was the huge family tree with all the labels already done for you. There are places for siblings, step-siblings, you name it, and room for 2 aunts and uncles from both parents with 4 cousins each. It really is a mess. What if the mum has 6 sisters or none at all? Oh well!

Obviously, it would have been better to leave the tiles blank or to simply allow you to draw your own tree.

The other thing that surprised me was that things like first words and first steps are kind of lost in the mix. These are 2 things that I've always thought were considered super, duper special by any parent, but they are just put in with all the other prompts and lines on the page with nothing to make them stand out.

This is just an example of the choice of formatting which, again, is very straightforward and practical. Although, I'm curious if maybe I would love this book so much more in print form. It would really just come down to personal taste. It's still a good book for the right parent.

My Baby's Book is an attractive DIY keepsake journal for tracking and preserving baby milestones put together by Anne Phyfe Palmer. Released 3 Jan 2023 by Sasquatch Books, it's 144 pages and is available in hardcover journal format. It's part of an ever-expanding group of journals for documenting and preserving family and person milestones.

This book is full of gentle and contemplative prompts to record the experiences from delivery through the first few years of life. It's enhanced throughout with intricate papercut art by Sarah Trumbauer. Many (most?) of the other companion volumes in the series are similarly embellished and coordinate beautifully with this one.

Five stars. This would be a lovely gift for new parents (there are similar journals for most life phases), or a thoughtful shower gift.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This is a cute baby book to track baby's growth and development! As a new parent to my first child, I'd highly consider purchasing this book to keep track of all of my little girl's statistics. It is very in depth and asks questions that other baby books, like the one I have currently, doesn't ask. I liked that each section allowed for pictures and space to add more information that you felt was missing from the section itself. Overall, it is a fabulous baby book that I would consider purchasing for myself or for friends that are having their first child.

I could see how some parents could find the amount of questions overwhelming, especially if you have more than one child.
