Buster is a race car that has not won a race yet in race school. He continues to get frustrated and at one point he drives off. He meets some new friends and a new type of racing. He still struggles when he cannot complete part of the off-road racing course.

In this book, Buster's coach continues to try to teach him how to calm himself by taking a deep breath. Buster does not want to do this at first and when he finally does, he is successful.

I chose this book for my 3 year old son because he loves cars and I have been trying to teach him about calming his body when he gets frustrated. My son definitely enjoyed the story and the pictures. Still working on the breathing though.

The ideal age for the book is 4-8, so my son is a little bit younger than what they recommend.

I'm only going to give it 3 stars though because I found that it was quite repetitive and it was something that I started to find a bit annoying.

Buster Gets Back On Track is a children’s story written by Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Summary: Buster really wants to win. But when everything keeps going wrong, his emotions get out of control. Will Buster ever win, or should he just give up?

My Thoughts: I really liked this book. It does a great job discussing emotions and what to do with them-especially when they get the better of you.

This book would be perfect for any children that are racing fans, love cars, or just struggle with big emotions.

The pictures are bright and colorful, and there are even more examples at the back with healthy ways to deal with life’s frustrations.

As a racing fan myself, I also enjoyed the different car characters’ personalities, and their fun names too.

I would definitely recommend this book, and would like to thank Thomas Nelson for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!

This story about Buster has an important message for kids. I think this is great for kids ages 5-9 due to the longer text. It is also perfect for that age because they do tend to run away when they have been feelings and takes practice to work through the feelings to keep going. Not a lot of picture books deal with emotions for upper elementary kids so this was nice to see. The cars and illustrations are fun and colorful. My favorite page was seeing all the Humvee cars in the off-road race track.

I was a little skeptical at first I must admit. A picture book written by a famous race car driver?? What?! But the message is spectacular! I already added it to my list of books to buy for the house and the classroom!

Buster Gets Back on Track is a beautifully illustrated book that talks about trying new things even when they're hard. This is the second book in the Buster the Race Car series. The storyline focuses on Buster learning the value of practice and working through his emotions.

I love the style of art chosen to illustrate the book. The message is present and understandable throughout the story. I love the use of a race car as the main character. It is a nice change from the many animal themed children’s books that are so common with teaching lessons.

My children (and my NASCAR loving husband) were absolutely delighted by the first book in this series. We have read and listened through it numerous times. I hoped that this one would be a winner as well and I was not disappointed. I look forward to sharing it with them once it is released.

Buster Gets Back on Track would be a great addition to any school or home library. Any little race car fan would love the sweet message and fun illustrations.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson: Children’s!

This is such a cute read! I love that this book emphasizes big feelings and how to deal with that. As a mom of a toddler I think this would be an excellent read to teach the importance of dealing with your feelings and accomplishing goals through big feelings. Overall really cute book!

This book teaches about how to manage big feelings and it does a fantastic job!

My daughter is at an age where she struggles with this and I could see her expressions so well as I read it to her before bed.

Having big feelings is NOT a bad thing, as I’ve told her before & this book just explains more of that.

Highly recommend the Buster books!

They’re so fun and can even relate to adults too!

Dale does it again! Little Buster zooms through the book, helping children navigate emotions and big feelings while engaging in bright illustrations of their favorite number 8 car. We were big fans of the first one and this book follows closely in its footsteps- full of color, rhyme and relatable messaging for young children. This book is a great addition to both public and home libraries.

Great kids story. Well written and engaging. The message to slow down and breathe through emotions and frustrations was great for my boys. I plan on buying a copy when published

Great book to teach kids about their feelings and how to not let them control how we act. The breathing technique used to calm emotions is a great tool for kids to have.

This is a Children's book that I read to my twin boys. There was another Buster the Race Car book released before this one, and I read that one to my boys as well which they loved that one. This book is so cute, and it as a great message that is done very well. My boys love this book so much. I found the pictures to be so cute and fun. The names of the cars in this book are so cute and fun. This is a great book to show kids it is ok not to come in first place, but they just need to keep trying. I think this book is great for young kids that loves cars or racing. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Dale Earnhardt Jr has a winner with Buster Gets Back on Track! Children will love the colorful illustrations and the message is one that we've been focusing on in Social Emotional Learning daily. When Buster doesn't win his race, his feelings of frustration build and those big feelings make it so hard for him to change his mindset. Click, Gus and his other racing friends encourage him to breathe and focus on his strengths, finally leading him to victory.
