Engaging characters, fine world building, decent magic, and a twisty rogue/thief sort of plot. Very entertaining.

I don't think I realized that this was a combination of books. So, I must admit that I was a little confused. I liked the writing style and the story seemed pretty interesting. It was all weaved together fairly well. However, maybe it's just my wacky brain, but it felt like I was dragging my feet to get into the story. It took me awhile to actually enjoy it, unfortunately, but perhaps that's just due to my own tastes in books.

Interesting premise, difficult to follow.

Everdoor - Director's Cut.

Sin and Sacrifice takes the first two Everdoor installments and melds them into Felisz's intended publication. Right away the author prefaces by telling us about the publication's history and hurdles. This, as Felisz notes, is the final product of a passion project many many years in the making.

Our protagonists are compelling from the offset, contrasting tongue-in-cheek sprinkled with apathy and more than a fair bit of mischief. I plodded on for the characterization alone, which held my interest despite treading water with the world-building and plot. 'Magic' explains away a lot of incongruities that I am certain would make a lot more sense on a second readthrough.

However, after tackling this behemoth I am going to need a break before I decide whether or not to carry on, reread, or reprioritize this endearing series.

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy of Everdoor sin and sacrifice. This was good, it was dark and mysterious and sexy. Worth the read.

Everdoor looks like it is going into the category for me of appealing but the writing is not suited to what I like. Everything is so descriptive that I have a hard time focusing on anything happening and have been stuck at 15% for over a week.

Adult fantasy that is released on Amazon.

The world building and extra details regarding the language and such was a much added plus, but I just couldn't get engaged.

The maps and images helped carry the store and provide the mental narrative.

Definitely something to give a try and something I will pick up again.

The Everdoor Sin & Sacrifice Edition combines the first 2 installments of Everdoor into one comprehensive compendium. It includes all new artwork as well as the "Traveler's Guide to Eclipse—A Short Compendium of Things" which goes over the languages, majik spells, food and flora of the mysterious and majikal world of Eclipse.

I really enjoyed the artwork and definitely loved the addition of the languages and spells! I think this was a great addition and really helped the reader get into the world. Eclipse is a wild world with such interesting and fun mythical creatures- and I LOVE a mad king.

The mix of humour and fantasy doesn't always mix well and can come across as "try hard" and gimmicky- however, Felisz really manages to pull off this mix and deliver a great story. The cross between magical and realism was probably my favourite aspect of the book.

I would definitely recommend this story to fantasy lovers, especially to those that want that extra info to really immerse into the world!

This has a lot of potential as a series, and it will be interesting for some to see where this goes next. The world building is pretty decent, and the characters & plot are interesting. For me personally, the amount of descriptive language used in nearly every sentence made it a bit difficult to stay focused on what was actually going on.

I am glad I got the chance to read this and I can see this appealing to lots of other readers that love the fantasy genre.

Another case of probably my fault for going after a book that I probably won't be a massive fan of. Just didn't do a good job of keeping my attention.

Didn't realize this already published in February! Was a great read and I really enjoyed the imagery, but even better than that were the characters. Very well-rounded in the sense that they reminded me of actual people.
Thank you for the opportunity to read & review!

The cover picture and description of the story suggested to me that this was my sort of fantasy book. And, although it took me a little while to settle into the book, that proved to be the case. Fun characters and an interesting fantasy adventure story, sprinkled with lots of humour. Just perfect. A story where you are not entirely sure of how the disparate parts are going to come together. But don’t dismay, keep reading and you will find, like me, an exceedingly good fantasy read as the curtain of ignorance is slowly drawn back. In this book, actually books 1 and 2 of the series, some questions are answered and an idea of the general flow is revealed. But I’m glad there are more books to come, because I will be glad to have the opportunity to spend more time with Etcher, Jerro and the other characters in this epic fantasy story. I’m sorry to hear in the introduction about the struggles the author had to publish this book, but wish to say I’m really glad she has, and that I have had the opportunity to read it. Thank you to Chauncy Felisz, Tales of the Angelous Publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

that cover drew me in and I'm so glad I got to read this, it had what I was hoping for from the description. It does everything that I hoped for and I enjoyed how good the story worked well. The characters were what I was looking for and were written perfectly. Chauncy Felisz does a great job in telling the story and I can't wait to read more.

"He did want to settle things with her, he wanted there to be more—more time, more talk, and more of anything else she allowed him to have. All too soon he found himself at the bottom of a stairwell where a little iron gate barred his path. There was a dial pad and a speaker beside him where he sought out Mahra’s flat number and punched in the code. The speaker made a crackling sound as it rang. "

This was a cool fantasy kind of story. It was so comfortable to read. I love adventure stories with a sense of humor within. The storytelling style was so light that I didn't feel like I had finished reading the book.
