This manga was extremely cute and I absolutely love both main characters. I love how crazy the MMF was. This was an enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading more.

Sejima Akari is a twenty-five year old salary worker with a secret: she's a huge fangirl. Kazama Ritsu is a quiet salary worker with his own twist. I won't spoil that, but I loved his character set-up.

Really fun start to a series! I love the contrast between the characters' personalities and the general set-up of the plot. Looking forward to seeing this romance progress.

Super cute, soft read! The characters are endearing and real. Some of the secondhand embarrassment is definitely a little too close to home, but I'm excited to see where these characters go. I have so many questions about Kazama's motivations and background.

It was a pretty nice manga, the characters were cute and I liked their personalities (especially the ones that were quite exuberant, it added a very funny touch to the story).
The art was cool, pretty common and that's why I wish there was a little more originality at times.
The volume is a little too short for my taste... but hey, I can't wait to read the next one!

My Coworker Has a Secret!, Vol 1 by Mushiro is released April 11th, 2023

4.5⭐️

The first volume in this manga did not disappoint. It’s a slice of life, with what I hope is a coworkers turn to lovers trope as it continues. We follow Akari, who is a 26 year old female, who is considered poor. She has a terrible obsession with a musical actor, and knowingly spends all her money on this actors merchandise, therefore she is poor. She finds herself in a sticky situation, starting at lunch, and the journey starts.

You notice how character improvement/opening up is shown through the art, as well as through storytelling. The obsession with the musical actor was quite annoying and seemed too much at times. However, if I put that obsession aside, I found Akari funny and relatable. I really enjoyed just about everything about this manga, especially with how diverse, funny and relatable the characters are.

Thank you NetGalley, Independent Publisher Group, LOVE X LOVE and Mushiro for a free Digital ARC of My Coworker Has a Secret, Vol. 1 for my honest review

This manga series is sugary sweet and very fluffy. Overall I really liked the characters and I liked reading their shenanigans. The pacing is all over the place. I read a lot of manga but sometimes things were happening so fast I was left confused or wondering who was doing what. I would read more. It was a good time.

This was a fun manga about Akari Sejima, a regular office worker who is so obsessed with (an obnoxious) idol that she uses all her money on him. But she doesn’t want her coworkers to know, because they openly look down on fangirls. She has elaborate mechanisms to hide her secret, but she is barely coping.

On a chance encounter with Ritsu Kazama, she ends up telling him everything, only for him to turn out to be her new coworker. On top of things, she loses her home and ends up living in his apartment. This too, has to be kept secret from their coworkers. In return, she promises to keep the women off his back, as he turns out to be a rich heir.

Akari and Kazama were fun characters. She’s clueless and messy and fast to jump to ridiculous conclusions, which leads to embarrassing moments, he’s a meticulous homemaker who likes to feed her. Feelings start to grow, but both are clueless about them. The volume ends just as things were starting to get interesting.

Illustrations are in black and white and in various styles, depending on Akari’s mood. They were good and fairly simply drawn. Secondary characters were difficult to tell apart though.

My Coworker Has a Secret! is a cute josei manga. It's very heartwarming and easy to approach. It's actually only two books long too. Akari is 25 years old and has no money. She's an office worker, but uses her money to buy idol stuff and eventually gets evicted. In the park she meets this shy guy, who lets her stay at his place and the guy is actually her coworker and the son of a business genius. The relationship between these two is juicy and funny. Gladly Akari isn't annoying, just little ditzy. They get to know one another and try to understand these new feelings. Basically the story is very simple, but because of the characters, it's much more enjoyable.

The art is nice, quite basic. I liked the facial expressions and how lively the characters are. The manga makes you smile! There's enough content for a shorter series, so the pace is great and all in all this works. If you want a nice and wonderful josei, then try this!

Thank you to Netgalley for this arc! Let’s get straight into it. I love romance/ shojo/ Josei manga. I think this manga has potential but I’m a little hesitant about it. Let me explain why.

So it’s a solid 3 stars for me, I would say it’s a pretty typical first volume of a romance manga. We get intros to our protagonist, the love interest, and potential obstacles for their romance. I think it’s nice to find a manga that talks about fan/Stan culture, because many people look down on it. I can totally relate to Askari that sometimes it’s hard to enjoy your fandoms when people pass judgement. That being said, there are way too many coincidences in this manga! I mean I love a good coincidence here and there, but there’s so much plot armour! Also there are times there is way too much text filling the page, where I feel like there should be a better balance. Anyways, a pretty good start but I want to see where it goes.

Over-the-top silly in the good sort of way.

A mid-twenties office worker with an idol obsession and questionable spending habits stumbles through an increasingly disastrous set of mishaps. Luckily for her, she has a kind-hearted coworker willing to come to her rescue. Between rooming together and hiding her fangirl persona from the other office coworkers, hijinks ensue!

The plot isn't terribly deep or logical, but the ridiculous situations are entertaining. The art is pretty and the main character is very cute. The use of slang terms like "yeet" feel extremely out of place, and simple cartoony outlines are perhaps a bit overused. Overall this is great light-hearted manga - fun and quick to read.

Unluckily for impatient me, the cliffhanger ending for volume one is practically criminal.

I have my new obsession!!!! For fans of Wotakoi this is the Josei for you!!!! I need volume two immediately! This has all my favorite tropes: secret fangirl, loses home suddenly and has to be taken in, man cooking, shy guy who doesn’t know his feelings, jealousy, and clueless female lead. As a fan girl there is nothing I love more than reading about other fan girl’s living out my josei dreams. I think I’m the next volume we will get some steam!!!! Oh, and did I forget to mention he's ridiculously rich but not a snob?

Akari is a secret fangirl, but everyone in the office just thinks she’s madly in love with her boyfriend. A boyfriend who is really an idol who does a daily live during avergage lunch breaks. All of this happened because her deadbeat ex stole all her savings, and now she spends every cent on Ren-Ren, we love escapism. On a chance encounter she meets Kazuma, who wants nothing more than for someone to enjoy his overly abundant cooking.

When Akari’s apartment is condemned, Kazuma swoops in to save her. Nothing could go wrong…..right!!!!!

Read through NetGalley, but will probably be collecting physicals too

Given the premise, I was prepared for a title with some level of coercion in it. Imagine my surprise when that absolutely did not happen! Yay! The man our stan opens up to about her issues is actually a sweetheart. This gal is lucky she's in a rom-com, because the reason for her financial woes at her age didn't strike me as cute or funny. Terrible spending habits aside, I was pleasantly surprised by this title, and want to keep an eye on it in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley, Independent Publisher's Group, Tokyopop, LOVE x LOVE, and Mushiro for the opportunity to read this manga in exchange for an honest review.

Akari is 25, single, and has a simple life between work to get by and all non-work time dedicated to Ren-Ren, a pretty-boy idol. She can't tell anyone at work or she will be devastatingly made fun of.

When a chance encounter with a stranger (after her lunch is stolen by a pigeon no less) causes her to reveal her secret, she finds it is okay to share her love of Ren-Ren with the guy who shares his lunch...and his phone so she can finish watching her fangirl stream. As fate would have it, this stranger is actually a new-hire at her work! Now she has someone who knows her secret, and she will do anything to keep him from sharing.

While this manga has a slight feeling of generic plot, what I really appreciate about this one is the older characters. This manga is meant for a new-adult audience (though teens could certainly enjoy and connect to this one too), and the plot explores work versus private life and the possibility of blooming romance.

Quirky and honest, with absolutely hilarious art in Akari's reactions to her perceived crisis', this is an excellent first volume telling a story with a lot of promise.

This was incredibly cute! A truly adorable manga. I will definitely be purchasing future volumes. This is sweet enough to give you a tooth ache.

This manga follows Akari, a down on her luck office worker. While enjoying what should have been a peaceful lunch, accompanied by a live stream from her favorite idle, her lunch is stolen from her by a gull! Day ruined, stomach empty, Akari spirals into despair... only to then meet Kazama- an angel of lunchboxes. Their friendship grows from there, as more and more complications arise in Akari's life.

If Akari doesn't want Kazama.... I definitely do!

Great first volume! Thanks Net Galley for providing me with a digital copy!

This is one of the funniest mangas I have read in a long time. Akari is a fan girl. She lives and dreams about her idol actor and entertainer Ren-Ren. She is so obsessed with him that she pretends to have lunch with her boyfriend, but really she is watching Ren-Ren live-streaming and she doesn’t actually have a boyfriend.

Akari doesn’t go anywhere or do anything if it doesn’t have Ren-Ren in it. Afraid her co-workers will find out, and mock her, Akari hides her obsession and everything goes well until her secret is discovered by her new office colleague Ritsu. Thankfully Ritsu agrees to keep her secret and helps Akari when she encounters problems. Then he helps her out again and they become friends, and then housemates, but Akari is oblivious to the fact that Ritsu is slowly falling for her.

This is a really amusing slow burn, ‘friends become lovers’ comedy manga. The artwork is good and the story is funny. By the end of this I was cheering them on. I shall have to read the next volume to see if they actually end up together. Great fun to read.
