Subterranean nails it again with this fantastic retrospective anthology, showcasing Howard Waldrop's early and previously uncollected gems. The stories are wonderful and the interviews are captivating. This was my first time reading Waldrop and now I'm a fan!

Another superb retrospective anthology from Subterranean Press. This is filled with early and uncollected work by Howard Waldrop. In it, you can see Waldrop begin to develop his distinctive voice (though some of the early stuff is rough.). I especially enjoyed the interviews which were lengthy, frank, and fun. Perhaps meant for the Waldrop completist but I enjoyed it despite being a casual admirer. The enjoyment builds as the writing gets more mature during the anthology. Thanks NetGalley and Subterranean for a free ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
