Although long winded, and some portions of the book weren't needed this was an enjoyable read, Featuring my now favourite morally grey demon Killian and a little obtuse witch Ember. I loved the dynamic of the story how they both have difficult pasts but together work through it. Their chemistry was undeniable, their flirting and the humor between them kept the book lighthearted even though there were some gory details attached. All in all an enjoyable read and looking forward to the next book in the series.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to NetGalley and the author for granting me the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of "Bewitched Shadows" by Autumn Blake. It is always a pleasure to discover new and exciting stories in the world of fantasy.

From the very beginning, I couldn't help but be reminded of the enchanting ambiance found in "Kingdom of the Wicked." The captivating plot of "Bewitched Shadows" shares similarities with the aforementioned book, featuring a witch and a demon bound by a fateful bargain and unexpectedly thrust into a shared mission to solve a perplexing murder mystery. This intriguing premise immediately drew me in and kept me engaged throughout the story.

One aspect that stood out to me was the well-crafted character development. The author skillfully portrayed the protagonists, particularly Killian, who exhibited a captivating blend of strength, protectiveness, and vulnerability. His dynamic interactions with Ember, the witch he finds himself bound to, showcased a deepening connection that kept me invested in their journey.

What truly impressed me was the imaginative world-building and the inclusion of various supernatural creatures within a single narrative. Autumn Blake's creative prowess shines through as she seamlessly weaves together witches, demons, and other mystical beings, crafting a rich and immersive fantasy realm.

While "Bewitched Shadows" provided an enjoyable reading experience overall, I felt that certain elements of the plot mirrored familiar tropes within the genre. However, the author's unique twist and fresh approach added a layer of intrigue and kept me guessing until the very end.

In conclusion, It is a captivating tale that fans of dark fantasy and paranormal romance will appreciate. I am grateful for the opportunity to have delved into this magical world and eagerly look forward to exploring more of Autumn Blake's work in the future.

This was a solid PNR fantasy. Ember Belle and Killian Inferno are enemies- a witch and a demon- but they can't deny their attraction to each other. Ember's the granddaughter of the Coven's High Priestess whose fire magick is out of control. Killian is the future Lord of Pride where he is reluctant to rule in Hell. They need each other and agree to a demon pact to get a magical object, solve a murder, and potentially break a curse. There are some explicit sex scenes, Ember is dealing w/ grief from her parent's death, and PTSD. I liked getting to know Ember's sisters Jade, Audra, and Isla, and how they support each other. There are funny moments, a little action, and a good love story. I will definitely read Jade's book with the vampires in Blood Enchanted.

When you cross a lusty witch with a cranky demon, you get Bewitched Shadows. I highly enjoyed the will they or won't they aspect. I love the lustiness but also that the mystery plot kept me bewitched to keep on reading. I think Autumn did well on the descriptive locations and I could picture the scenes in my head. I felt this was a kinkier version of Kingdom of the Wicked but set in New Orleans and Hell. I really loved the banter between Killian and Ember. I though they were a believable opportunity. I can't wait to read the next one in the series. I think I'm excited for that one with how phenomenal this one was. Keep it up!!

Thank you #NetGalley for the ARC and I hope to see more of Autumn's work in the future. All the above opinions are my own.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. I have a weakness for supernatural stories that take place in New Orleans, it's a setting that never fails to fascinate me. The characters and plot were great and I couldn't put the books down, the romance was addicting!

More of a romance novel with a fantasy background than the start to a low fantasy series with some romance, Bewitched Shadows was not quite what I expected.

Bewitched Shadows has all the necessary components for a solid romance, but I found the fantasy and paranormal aspects hard to accept. The writing has no subtlety to help make the vampires, werewolves, witches, and demons feel believable. Instead, they’re loud and brash and very in your face. I don’t know if it's the way it’s written, but the style here put me on edge the whole time. It’s missing the occult feel, especially being set in New Orleans. So instead of it feeling dark, creepy, and powerful, the magic is almost too... normal?

The romance is pretty decent if you can put the paranormal aspects to one side (which is difficult, considering they are pretty much the whole book). There’s the shared history of trauma, the deep grief and denial, the slow burn, and (for once) a book about mates that doesn’t overuse the word. In my opinion, that alone is worth a whole extra star (Maas, for all the good she has done, has forever ruined that word for me).

So, if I focus more on the romance and less on the fantasy, Bewitched Shadows shines a little brighter, but I can’t help feeling conflicted by the strange feeling that something was ‘off’. And while I wish the magic had been explained more, the sisters spent more time together to prove the bond they were always talking about, and the timeline hadn’t felt so rushed, I would definitely be interested in checking out the second book in the Wicked Belles series when it comes out. There might be something here that just needs more time to develop.

Giving Phoebe and Cole vibes but if Cole got his ish together and if all of Phoebe's sisters actually liked Cole. I will patiently await Jade and Alexei's book. I don't need another series to bury myself with but what a way to send myself off.

If you're looking for a steamy urban fantasy book, Bewitched Shadows is definitely a good choice. Set in New Orleans, the story revolves around Ember Belle, a fiery witch who struggles with controlling her powers and dealing with grief. When she crosses paths with Killian Inferno, a cold-as-ice demon, they strike a pact to uncover a murder mystery together, with a bit of romance thrown into the mix.

While the plot was a bit slow, the chemistry between Ember and Killian was palpable from the start, making it an enjoyable read. The banter between the two was fantastic, and their relationship was sweet yet intense. Killian's emotional side made him even more endearing, and his devotion to Ember was heartwarming.

The strong bond between the four Belle sisters was also a highlight of the book. Their support for each other was admirable, and it was nice to see siblings who were so close.

While the plot had a lot of bouncing points, the focus on Ember and Killian's relationship was captivating, and I found myself rooting for them throughout the book. Overall, Bewitched Shadows was a sexy, supernatural ride that left me intrigued to see where the Wicked Belles series goes next. I highly recommend it to fans of urban fantasy and romance.

Nola, demons, and witches wow! This romance book with a fantasy setting was actually really good. I will say the the romance part of the story was at the forefront of the story and the other elements took a background aspect. Which is not bad per se. However I really did want more of the fantasy elements vs. just a romance. The characters were ok but could have used a little more depth and being fleshed out a little. But overall it was worth the read.

Thanks to publisher and netgalley for the arc!

This was a sexy supernatural ride! The chemistry was there from very beginning between Ember & Killian. I'm intrigued to see where the series goes with books I'm assuming of the other sisters finding their mates and with crumbs and updates of Ember & Killian I'm following books as well. I enjoyed the world building it was very different from other supernatural series I've read especially the hell part. Also enjoyed the murder mystery in the background.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This was a really enjoyable book! It wasn’t the best book I ever read, but it was entertaining enough to keep me engaged! I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it at first because it took me a little bit to connect with the characters, but once I did I had a good time reading it.

This is definitely an adult book! I did love their tension, even if some of the sexy scenes were a little much or cheesy to me. I thought they were pretty steamy, and I didn’t hate it, but it’s just not really my style. If you like adult content, you would probably enjoy it! One thing I did like was that he wanted to pleasure her and didn’t only care about his own pleasure.

Killian and Ember’s banter was really good and I loved them together. It was sweet to see him take care of her and love her so much. I loved when he called her sweetheart. I’m a sucker for sweetheart. I love a man who worships the woman he loves and Killian was that man! He was emotional and not unfeeling which I loved. He didn’t shy away from his emotions even if he didn’t admit them to Ember right away. He still had a brooding sexy vibe, but he was sweet with her and the other people in his life when he needed to be. I loved the scenes when they were just talking and giggling with each other, it was so cute.

I will say though I’m not a big fan of how the enemies to lovers trope was done. I really can’t stand “we are enemies but actually we lust over each other but we keep saying we are enemies.” Thankfully that didn’t last very long, but at the same time, they never really talked about their first meeting and how they didn’t like each other. It very quickly went from “I’ll never want you” to “I love you.” I liked them together, but I wish that was done a little better. I would have preferred them to have tension of “we shouldn’t be together but we want to be” than pretending for the first part of the book they were “enemies.”

I almost could have just read a book about them starting to date and their relationship because I really didn’t care about the murder mystery plot line. There seemed to be a lot of plot points that bounced around a lot. Like their relationship, her trying to learn her magic, and the murder mystery. I wasn’t invested and didn’t really care what else was going on, I just wanted to see them together to be honest. Even the battle at the end seemed to go by quickly and was almost an afterthought to them trying to stay together.

One thing I really loved about this book is Ember’s relationship with her sisters! They loved each other so much and they were all so unique and cool. It is always amazing to see siblings that are so close. I also loved that they had movie dates with Killian and seemed to accept him since he was such a good guy and they could see that.

I really liked Killian’s friend Taliah! I wish she was in it more, but I liked any scene she was in. She was such a good friend to Killian and was generally a cool woman.

Even though I didnt like Wren and his comments toward Ember and all the slut shaming that was happening with the wolves, and I won’t forgive him that easily, I liked that he had development in the end and seemed to have changed his ways. He protected her when it mattered.

I LOVED the little Jade and Alexei flirting moments we got even though it was toward the end of the book. I am actually really excited for her book and to see more of them!

Despite some of my complaints of how things were handled, I thought this was a solid book. I loved Ember and Killian’s relationship, I loved most of the side characters, and thought the romance was done well!

Looking for mystery romatasy book with enemies to lovers trope? Well you can try this book.

Bewitched Shadows is urban fantasy story takes place in New Orleans. It tells the story of a witch who can't control her magick and a demon who accidentally being summoned by his supposed to be enemy. The overall story is good. The plot is a bit slow. Though Bewitched Shadows has little bit mystery in it (I wish it has more), I don't really feel it because it more focused on the romance. But I really love the strong bond of the four Belle sisters in this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Autumn Blake for giving me the opportunity to review eARC of Bewitched Shadows.

This book felt very dry and lacking. I feel like this should forsure be marketed to young adults/new adults...

Thank you netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours for allowing me to read this book. Wow this book was so good! I was so invested in the romance and the mystery that was going on and the steam was such a nice bonus! I loved how intertwined all the characters were because it kept you guessing who the murderer was. I thought it was so amazing how sexually confident Ember was and the mix of supernatural characters was refreshing! I really enjoyed the pace of this book and couldn’t put it down. I loved the tension and sparks between Killian and Ember. I loved the extra chapter with Jade and Alexei and can’t wait to read their book!

I loved this so much ❤️ enemies to lovers, fared mates, happy ending, all my favourite tropes. Ember Belle, a sassy witch, was the most badass FMC you could ask for. Touch on topics that a lot of us deal with and learning to accept the flaws and forgive herself for the things she could not control makes her a true inspiration. Killian, the sexy demon, brings courage and fearlessness that can’t be rivalled. I loved every ounce of his humour, vulnerability, compassion, and fury. I cannot offer enough praise for Bewitched Shadows!

This is a paranormal romance fantasy, enemies-to-lovers with a side of mystery. I love the character development and especially loved the two main characters MMC and FMC, Killian and Ember. Most definitely, Charmed vibes with her sisters as well which I enjoyed. I loved the relationship they have as a family.

I think the world building and setting up for the other books is awesome and cannot wait to see where the other stories go with the other sisters.

Thank you Net Galley for sending me an e- ARC copy of the book. All opinions are my own.
