This was so cute and easy to follow for my early reader (7 yr). The illustrations were adorable, and there was very little text. Overall, we both enjoyed it.

Mika is adorable! Dressed as a tiger, Mika faces her fears of The Howler (aka the vacuum) and ferociously takes it out (when Dad isn't looking). I loved the accurate portrayal of a toddler's fears and imagination, and I loved Mika's bravery.

These stories are always so cute and my favorite. I ended up reading book 2 first by accident but was very excited to be able to read vol 1. I love these short stories of imagination. They are so cute and can't wait to see more of Mika's adventures.

A great introduction to graphic novels for young ones! The story is a cute little story that will capture any kids imagination and creativity.

Mika and the Howler is a cute and clever take on the world from the perspective of a young child. It does an excellent job reframing the mundane into something exciting and otherworldly.

‘Mika and the Howler’ by Agata Loth-Ignaciuk with illustrations by Berenka Kolomycka is a graphic novel for kids about a toddler having encounters with common household objects.

Mika’s father puts her down for a nap, but there is a strange howling noise. Mika gets out of her crib to investigate. There is a strange green snake eating up dust bunnies and even Mika’s sock. Mika fights the monster and leaves the house in a bigger mess than when the mysterious creature started.

This series by Polish creators is adorable. I was drawn by the cover art and I wasn’t disappointed. The art is cute and Mika feels like a real toddler with her curiosity and fear.

This is a picture book in a graphic novel format. It's pretty light on words, and uses the pictures to convey the main character's adventurous spirit as she explores the house and fights "The Howler," her parents' vacuum cleaner. Some of the illustrations might be a little scary for young children, as she imagines the vacuum to be a reptilian creature with an evil expression, but this will be fun for the right audience. The book ends on a chaotic note that will have parents sighing in recognition. I didn't find this book especially noteworthy, but it's cute.

This book was sweet with nice illustrations. A good way to introduce a kid to imagination and the vacuum. I was confused by the Vol 1. Is this a graphic novel?

Thoughts:
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Mika is such a little personality, and this book demonstrates children’s outlooks on life and adventures that can make the children reading it feel seen and help the parents understand the behaviours their children may display. I thought that the map of the house at the beginning of the book was an awesome touch, making it like the action/fantasy books parents read.

This is a cute little book for young readers. The illustrations are gorgeous and while there isn't much text we are able to understand how little Mika is feeling. I look forward to more adventures with Mika

What a cute little book! Love the pictures, how colourful and engaging they are. The Howler looks scary until you realise what it is! Eating socks and dust bunnies! Oh my!

I wonder if Mika will be a different animal in the next book, can't wait to find more! I love how Mika gets Frog and Worm to help her defeat the howler, regardless how scared she was to do so!

Will look out for more from these authors, a very enjoyable and quick read!

Such a delightful comic book story.

Beautifully illustrated, leaving words quite redundant. However, it is told from the perspective of young Mika. She is a toddler, alive and curious to the world of sounds and she verbalising beautifully to her dear friends and companions.

I loved the simplicity of the story. The detailed floor and room plans which make Mika’s break for freedom like some WWII airman’s escape from Colditz.

Children of all ages will adore Mika, her sense of adventure and fearlessness. I hold my hand up, I loved her too.

We all need heroes and finding one in Mika is the positive dimension to this book. She is resourceful and brave.

Young children can be afraid of sounds and stuff they don’t understand. A book like this in my opinion brilliantly approaches this subject in a tangential manner. Allowing the story to speak to Mika’s fears and success; thus enabling you to explore the subject with your own young ones.

This is the start of a series and book 2 is promised shortly. I can’t wait to find out more and share Mika’s antics with my grandchildren.

I love the art in this one! It feels very handdrawn, which I like as that's not something you see a lot of anymore. Mika was so cute, in their little tiger outfit, and how they said bye to their stuffed animals.

It's a short story, but you definitely get pulled into Mika's world and can understand how they are scared of the Howler. I feel like to me it was very obvious what the Howler represented, but my nephew didn't quite understand it and thought the Howler was scary aswell. f

Another thing that I liked is that the story ends on Mika's victory, defeating the Howler! It doesn't show the aftermath, which I think is the perfect way to end this story, as kids will remember it this way!

I thought this was cute! I thought the illustrations were absolutely adorable, and the little dialogue was interesting. I thought it was really cute and funny how the monster was really just the vacuum, and I liked how you could vaguely tell by the way it was drawn that it resembled a vacuum even when it was just a monster.

Super sweet graphic novel!

Mika is a toddler who is learning about the world, he comes across an awful noise and a “thing” he has never encountered before. He must conquer it to feel save in his own home again.

Great for all Primary School age children. Lots can be got out of this story.

Adorable illustrations, but difficult to read and understand for my 5 year old. He got that it was a vacuum cleaner, but unsure why the baby was scared of it. I liked how Mika faced fears and went for the plug, problem solving all along. Still hard for my 5 year old to follow along, but has great potential to lead to some amazing conversations! Thanks for the opportunity to read!

Mika is an industrious toddler dressed in a tiger suit who escapes her crib captivity to battle a reptilian vacuum ("the howler"). The words are minimal in this children's book as the pictures move the narrative along. The story is simple and ends with a bit of a mess. Highlights of the book are Mika's cuteness and her playful imagination. The art was nice but the plot felt very one note to me. I appreciate the opportunity to read a digital copy of this book via NetGalley.
