It’s too cute but the book ended so abruptly! I just can’t!

This is the story of a lonely toddler who has a wild imagination and makes a mess playing. Yes, and you know what would happen when the parents see the mess. I feel the book is a bit incomplete.

The artist is the celebrity here for me! Love the art so much!

Thank you, Oni Press, for the advance reading copy.

This is a fun book for little kids.

Lots of kids are scared of the vacuum and this addresses it in an imaginative way.

The illustrations were super cute.

I adore Mika and found it adorable she told all of her toys good-bye when she left on an adventure. This was a quick, light-hearted and beautiful read about facing your fears.

In the first edition of the Mika series, young Mika sets out on an adventure beyond the confines of her crib to discover what awaits her in her home. Join Mika in this humorous tale of her battle with the feared "howler" to reclaim what she has lost.

I was given an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mika is a toddler who escapes her crib and comes across a noisy, dust munching monster. Never fear, she may be small but she will show the monster who is boss!

This story was okay. Mika is cute, wearing a little tiger costume around, complete with ears and a tail. The artwork I felt was a bit choppy and repetitive. If I was reading a picture book with a young child I would want there to be enough to the pictures that I could ask leading questions like 'what do you think is going to happen' or 'what does Mika see?' but I did not think that there was enough opportunity to do that in this book.

Mika is a super cute explorer and we, the reader, get to join in on the adventure! On Mika’s first adventure. Mika faces off with the monstrous Howler. Will Mika succeed? You will just have to read this comic to find out 😊

What a marvelous way to get young readers excited about reading. With the fun, super cute illustrations young readers may not even realize that they are reading!! Also, assuming that Volume 1 indicates there are future adventures with Mika, it is a great way to introduce new readers to reading a series.

Grateful to have received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley & Oni Press

Cute and with good illustrations but felt a little lacking and short. I am not sure what age group it would be aimed at. Seems like a mix between a picture book and very young graphic novel.

Eloquently illustrated! The reader gets a clear sense of how genuinely frightening a vacuum cleaner can be to a small kid. Not sure if the content will be considered outstanding, but I'm open to seeing it as such.

Young Mika has a wandering spirit and loves to have new adventures. In this first adventure for her, curious Mika escapes her room and is on the prowl for something fun. When she trips on something green in the hallway, it fights back and roars triumphantly. To Mika, it's called the Howler, and she does whatever she can to stop it. But when she sees her dad fight with it, she realizes it's a vacuum cleaner. Yet, it comes back alive! What do Mika's parents see when they reach the living room?
She is a young child in a lion costume and desperate for fun. This picture book shows how Mika overcomes her fears against the Howler, the vacuum cleaner. She is on the prowl, seeking toys throughout the house. With her companion stuffed animals, the frog and the worm, Mika is ready to overcome anything. A delightful and wonderous read!

In this gem that will appeal to young and old, imaginative, little Mika bravely determines that she will tackle the Howler that’s loose in her house, devouring what it finds — and win! Readers will laugh when they realize what the Howler is. And the ending is precious.

Originally in Polish, this picture book in comic-book style translates beautifully. Kudos to author Agata Loth-Ignaciuk, illustrator Berenika Kolomycka and comics letterer Crank!

But the best part? That’s easy! It’s the “Vol. 1” in the title, assuring us that another delightful Mika story is on the way.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Oni Press in exchange for an honest review.

Mika and the howler was totally adorbs ! I can see children of all ages relating to the scary encounters Mika comes into contact with !
This is a cute , brisk, and comedic read for children to learn that household items may be scary but are also safe and needed within a household.

Oh my this was such a cute book. I love the illustrations and the story told in picture with little dualogue is super cute and easy for young ones to retell the story. I will read this with my very young students and I think they will love, love the surprise of who the Howler is.
