Psychological mind games abound in this the third in the series, could be read as a standalone, however; you’d have much clearer understanding of characteristics and depth of a complex family dynamics by having read the first.
A strong female protagonist (Laurel) dating a handsome, muscular Captain for State Fish and Wildlife (Huck). Their relationship is new and their strong personalities are still trying to find balance. They’re both committed to their jobs.
The idiosyncrasies of FBI agent Snow’s character kept me on my toes trying to predict her reactions and thought processes. She’s just putting together a team in an area outside Seattle. Her father’s AWOL, her half sister is a beautiful psycho, only her Mom seems normal. The snowy scenes had me shivering.
Several similar murder victims has Laurel and the team pulling long shifts and late hours to catch a serial killer. There are multiple suspicious suspects, clues I couldn’t piece together, kept me scrambling to identify the perpetrator. This was a very suspense filled plot and distinct characters. I recommend both the author and her books – worth the read!

The Laurel Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti has become one of my all-time favorite series in the mystery thriller genre. Filled with smart reactive, perfect for television drama this series has a hold on me that won’t be letting go anytime soon. Book three, You Can Die, is a masterful production by the brilliant Zanetti. Again words to describe are smart, edgy, thrilling, entertaining, sexy, and mind-boggling connections. Her secondary characters are just as important as her primary characters. Her ebb and flow in storytelling make her books unprecedentedly un-put-downable. Prepare yourselves, friends the ride isn't over, it’s just getting started. A phenomenal read!

Laurel Snow is back and better than ever! I have to say I love this series of mysteries by Rebecca Zanetti. In this installment, Laurel starts off by investigating the death of her friend and coworker Kate's ex husband -Victor Vuittron. The plot is taut and keeps the reader engaged. Laurel's sister Abigail manages to keep insinuating herself into Laurel's life and is so creepy that I can't wait to see how this story arc leads to a crescendo in the future. Laurel is a quirky character who you can't help but root for. Her relationship with Huck is slowly building and has some new twists thrown into the plot! All in all this is a great mystery where all the murders are traceable to one action that led to many ripples!

I loved being back in this world with Laurel who is slowly starting to unbend and understand there's more to life than books and learning. Don't get me wrong she does feel love for her family but struggles to fully appreciate sometimes what is patently obvious to most. When a body is discovered its just the first and yet again this small community is gripped by fear as a serial killer walks amongst them. Laurel knows her half sister is never just an innocent bystander but can she really be connected to these horrific killings ?
This series is so well written that it's a joy to sit down and drop into this landscape of both beauty and murder. I particularly liked that the supporting characters around Lauren are becoming more fleshed out with each book. Yes its bonkers that so many killers operate in the same area but each book is written with panache and a depth that simply draws the reader in.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Loved every minute of this book! Laurel is such a one-of-a-kind heroine. She's brilliant and socially awkward but handles extreme moments in the best ways.

Her sister is psychotic! It took a bit to figure out if she was going to be good or evil and I think we can finally say we know now.

Huck's character has really grown as well. He was hard to read in the beginning. You could tell Laurel intrigued him but he was firmly planted in a loner lifestyle. We finally get to see him allow himself to care.

The cases in these books are fascinating to follow. You get a new serial killer with each book, and gets solved by the end of the book, however, it feels like we start off where we left off as well. For that reason, I would highly suggest reading this series in order.

This series is turning into a favorite of mine and I can not wait for more. Especially after finding out the little bit of news towards the end of this book.

In Rebecca Zanetti's You Can Die (Zebra Books 2023), Book 3 of the Laurel Snow Thriller series, Laurel is a brilliant FBI Special Agent slash profiler with a personality to match her stratospheric IQ. Despite her challenging people skills, she is considered one of the premiere agents on the force and recently, put in charge of her own office. In this case, men are being killed near churches with Valentine candy stuffed in their mouths. It turns personal when one of the victims is the ex-husband of Laurel's assistant, Kate, and the clues seem to touch on Laurel's equally-brilliant sister, Abigail, who definitely lacks the strong moral compass that guides all of Laurel's actions. Working with Laurel's boyfriend, Captain Huck Rivers of the Washington Fish and Wildlife, the two agents track the killer, collecting the clues, even when they lead to disturbing conclusions.

The story is well plotted with fascinating characters who never fail to surprise the reader. Though Laurel focuses on justice for all, her family is a mess from her psychotic sister to a father who seems even worse, and both have a laser grip on Laurel’s life. I mostly enjoyed the page turns though I was disappointed at times when plot twists didn't live up the Laurel’s vaunted intelligence. Still I’d recommend this to any who like clever FBI thrillers.

I am so glad readers did not have to wait long for this part of the series. This can be read as a standalone but you may not keep up with the characters, some old and some new and some we really hate show up.

Once again Laurel and her crew are called in to solve some murders. You may have inkling of the identity of the perpetrator but it won't be revealed until the end. The ending did somewhat rushed as there are unanswered questions but I hope we get another book or two for this series.

More Chills and Thrills

I love Rebecca Zanetti’s work, and while it’s hard to pick favorites, there’s something about Laurel Snow and Huck Rivers (and their associates) that really sucks me in. I thought You Can Die was the end of the series, so I read it with bittersweet anticipation. I’m thrilled to say it kept me on the edge of my seat like the first two novels did AND this isn’t the end of the story.

Laurel once again has a serial killer to catch, and this spate of murders hits close to home. Her assistant Kate is a suspect. Even Laurel herself is implicated in one murder. At times there are too many suspects to count. At other times, the trail has gone cold. It’s deliciously frustrating. And of course, there are twists. It was a blast trying to unravel the clues and solve the mystery before the characters did.

Throughout it all, her half-sister—the most twisted character in the series—is playing her typical devious games. Maybe even escalating. You can see the final confrontation coming, and I can’t wait until it does. (Except that will mean the end of the series, and I really don’t want to say goodbye to the people and pets of this saga.)

As always, the winter weather adds to the atmosphere, which is cold, dark, and eerie. You’ll want to read this one with something warm to drink. Deidre would suggest tea. Laurel seems prone to hot cocoa. I say anything to keep you toasty while you plow through the pages. And you will plow through them. I read this in one day.

This book is a complete standalone mystery, but I recommend reading the series in order to truly understand the undercurrents. Five easy stars from me.

Another awesome Laurel Snow book. This book has so much going on. Laurel is on the hunt for another serial killer and her half sister is as dangerous as ever. Laurel and Huck get a surprise. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

You Can Die by Rebecca Zanetti is book three in her Laurel Snow series.

Laurel Snow is a genius, young FBI agent of striking appearance with a particular skill for finding serial killers. Her proficiency has led her to become the agent in charge at her new unit. There are still killers to be caught, and she’s the one to catch them.

Rebecca Zanetti continues her successful Laurel Snow series. She includes enough backstory to make this a true standalone. The major recurring characters are expanded. Characterization is again a key element that I enjoyed. The plot and its twists are engrossing. The pacing is appropriate from the beginning to the satisfying ending. You Can Die is a 5 out of 5 star read that I highly recommend to all readers of romantic suspense.

My thanks to Kensington Books, Zebra, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

Another great book in the Laurel Snow series. A serial killer to catch and family drama. I was surprised by the killer. Never suspected the right person. I love Laurel and Huck and all the the other cast of characters. I’m excited to realize there will probably be another book in this series. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves romantic suspense.

Laurel barely kept herself from taking a step back. "Abigail. What are you doing here?"
Her half sister smiled and sauntered over to Special Agent Norrs to lean up and kiss him on the cheek. She slid her arm through his as if she'd done it numerous times before. "Why Laurel, what a nice surprise," she purred.

Laurel's half sister being with an FBI agent is absolutely no accident or coincidence. She knows that Abigail has a plan, and it isn't good.

As Laurel investigates a new round of murders, she knows that Abigail has some kind of involvement - even if she didn't commit these murders.

Laurel and Huck's relationship is still going strong and changes are coming.

I LOVE this series so much!! I can't wait for more!

A really nice thriller from Zanetti. Her characters are always interesting and the setting and situation is multi-layered and easy to get caught up in. I look forward to the next book from Zanetti as well!

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book.

I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. This is the third in the Laurel Snow series. I really enjoy this series. I had to finish it in one sitting. Zanetti kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who did what in the story. I love the dynamics between Laurel and her half-sister, Abigail and her relationship with Captain Huck Rivers. Laurel has just started a new division of the FBI, and she has been called in to find out who is killing men and stuffing down their throats valentine candy hearts and leaving their dead bodies in a purple tent. The first body found is actually the ex-husband of Laurel’s administrative assistant Kate. Kate becomes the primary suspect because she has no alibi but Laurel knows she is innocent. Especially when other men turned up dead and Kate couldn’t have done it. But Laurel also suspects that her sister is involved somehow with these murders especially when her father steps into the picture. Will Laurel be able to catch this serial killer and is her family involved. This is one series that if you pick it up and you won’t want to put it down.

This story is set in a beautiful area in Washington state. The protagonist is a brilliant and resourceful FBI agent named Laurel Snow. She has recently been given permission to set up a regional office but lacks much staff at the moment. She finds a willing "partner" in Captain Huck Rivers with whom she shares an office building.

Soon a series of murders starts happening. All male victims that have been stabbed multiple times and the small Valentine's candy stuffed down their throats. As Laurel continues to investigate there are additional details that come to light but tying them together is not an easy task even for a genius.

She has a half-sister, Abigail, who, while also brilliant is also a psychopath! How much of what is happening is Abigail's fault? This dynamic creates some interesting "family" tension between the women. But other than both being geniuses and having heterochromatic eyes, there is little similar in them.

There are brushes with near death for several of the people involved and some are killed in a horrific way through the multiple stabbings. Will Lauren be able to easily unwind the ball-of-yarn to find where all the strings lead or will she be stumped? Read the novel to find out the whodunit and how the crimes all tie together. It is a most interesting story with good characters and an intriguing plotline.

I definitely recommend the story to all those readers looking for a quick read with a lot of action mystery thrown in.

Special Agent Laurel Snow is back when her receptionists ex husband is found murdered. He is in a tent, naked, stabbed, with Valentine's day candy shoved down his throat. But he is the first in several that are killed. Laurel and her team are looking at everyone, even Laurel's sister Abigail. Then the father she never met shows up and he becomes a victim but survives. Now it's a race to find the killer before they kill again.
Huck is with the Fish and Wildlife and is dating Laurel. He helps some with her case but is busy rescuing lost people and finding poachers.

This was an excellent story. Could not put it down. Will keep you guessing til the very end. Secrets. A psycho half sister. A serial killer. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Laurel and her merry band of misfits gets better and better and so does her romance with Captain Huck Rivers. I may have a Huck sized crush on him myself.

With Laurel coming back from DC and her group becoming a permanent unit (for at least a year) they may get more agents and actual furniture. But what she also gets is another case to solve.

Walter is supposed to return and her sister doesn't seem to go away, much to Laurel's dismay. But someone else has returned also and it is quite the shock.

This book is full of shocks and surprises and they just seem to keep coming. But can Laurel save everyone she's become fond of? Only time will tell.

I love this series more and more and how Rebecca Zanetti keeps coming up with so many amazing different storylines and characters will forever blow my mind. However, you cannot go wrong with any choice.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and author. The protagonist is searching for a serial killer. He or she might be someone she knows. While dealing with this tragedy, she must put up with her half sister who is also, probably, a killer. While she has so much negativity in her life, she has a love interest. Her life is chaotic, but she works well within the chaos. With a surprising ending, this story moves quickly.
