You Can Die is the third book in Rebecca Zanneti’s Laura Snow Thriller series. This is a romantic suspense novel that features profiler and FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow as she tries to stop a yet another serial killer in the vicinity of Genesis Valley, WA. This story is written in third person from the point of view of several characters, which allows the readers to experience the story from several angles.

Laurel Snow is called into investigate when several male bodies are found stabbed to death with valentine candy hearts shoved down their throats. The case becomes personal when her long estranged father is attacked in a similar way. Abigail, Laurel’s sociopathic sister, continues to cause trouble in her life, while her love interest, Captain Huck Rivers, remains steadfast and supportive in both her personal and work life. But will Laurel be able to stop the killer before the target is aimed at her and her loved ones? Read it and find out!

Zanetti is a fantastic author with an amazing talent for writing romantic suspense. I love the chemistry and interactions between Laurel and Huck; each additional story to this thrilling series shows the slow and steady development of their budding relationship. I can’t wait for the next instalment of this series to see how Laurel and Huck’s relationship continues to develop, as well as discover what havoc Abigail and her father will cause.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced readers copy received from Netgalley.

You Can Die is the third book in the Laurel Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti. I do feel like this book does need to be read in order as opposed to that it can be read as a stand alone. Once again the author has written a amazing book, that keeps you turning the pages until the very end. I would recommend this book to others.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher Zebra, I am leaving my review voluntarily and the opinion expressed here are my own.

So many surprises. Laurel and Huck are back to find another serial killer. This time targeting supposed family men. This story brings back Laurel's sociopathic sister and the father she never knew. Twists and turns will keep you reading.

You Can Die by Rebecca Zanetti
Laurel Snow Thriller #3

Dark, gritty, gripping, and gruesome serial killer on the loose ~ Could not put it down.

What I liked:
* Laurel: FBI Violent Crimes head in located in Genesis Valley, Washington, intelligent, eidetic memory, has trouble reading emotions, verbally direct, honest, likes things spelled out, concrete thinker, doesn’t experience emotions as others do, from a loving family, in business with her mother, in a relationship with Huck
* Huck: ex-military sniper, Captain in Fish & Wildlife, overlaps working with FBI and local police force, lethal abilities, loner, has PTSD, protective, good friend, protective, patient, in a relationship with Laurel and knows what he wants
* Aeneas: Karelian Bear Dog, owned by and works with Huck, bear chaser, works in search and rescue missions, also might act a bit like a support dog
* Fred: Laurel’s rescue cat
* The new development in the relationship between Lauren and Huck
* Remembering and revisiting the characters from the previous book…at least the ones I liked
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* That the serial killer was not immediately obvious
* The twists, turns, and red herrings
* The hints about the future and problems that might arise from Abigail Cain – Laurel’s half-sister, Rachel Raprenzi – reporter and Huck’s ex-fiancé, and Zeke Cain – biological father of Abigail and Laurel, and Jason Abbott – serial killer from previous book in the series
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Having to wait for the next book to be written so that I can find out what happens next

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington – Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This latest installment of Rebecca Zanetti's Laurel Snow series is a thrilling procedural filled with well-developed characters and a plausible, engaging plot. With each book in the series, we’ve learned new details about Laurel. Her family features prominently in this one and shines a light on what makes Laurel tick. YOU CAN DIE is a cautionary tale of living in the moment and not letting opportunity pass you by.

Wow! I'm usually very good at figuring out the mystery, but this time there were so many suspects that I missed the clues. Rebecca Zanetti spun a clever and exciting mystery with danger and expectations of death around every corner.
With a father who should be in jail, a sycophantic sister who is a killer, Laurel a genius FBI agent, hangs on to reality with the help of Huck, with his caring, protection and exceptional timing.
I received this book as an arc and am voluntarily submitting my review.

This is a total winner! The third book in the Laurel Snow series is packed with action, romance, and suspense. FBI agent Laurel Snow teams up with the grumpy yet charming Captain Huck Rivers to catch a twisted serial killer targeting men. The plot twists keep you hooked till the end, and their sizzling chemistry is the cherry on top. Though the finale felt rushed, it set the stage for more excitement. This series is a must-read if you're a fan of thrilling romantic mysteries. I can't wait for the next one!

I loved getting more of Laurel Snow! I love her quirkiness and her smarts. She recognizes that she doesn’t pick up on things like others can and it makes her more endearing. She has a crazy sister and a family who loves her. She also has a job she loves. However, there is a serial killer who is starting to rack up bodies. This book had some serious twists and turns and things I did not see coming! I was here for this book and for the romance between Huck and Laurel. I adored them! I like the mix of romance with the suspense of the unknown and the fact there was a serial killer out there. I couldn’t put this book down!

Good mystery!
3.5 stars

In this third installment of the Laurel Snow series, Laurel is still solving cases while also trying to figure out what crimes her half-sister Abigail is guilty of. Proving it is the hard part.

Laurel's job as an FBI agent frequently puts her in harm's way, and the fact that she is slightly neuro-divergent hinders her ability to "read" people. She is getting better, though, and I appreciate her efforts to overcome. She and Huck, a Fish & Wildlife officer have been dating for 6 weeks, and he is a strong, supportive partner who doesn't mind Laurel's differences.

I must say that I didn't see the ending coming as I normally do. I honestly had no idea who the killer was, the author crafted multiple subjects who could have been responsible for killing 4 men and leaving candies at the scene. I was definitely surprised. This was a good, solid mystery story and I look forward to more by this author.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

A great 3rd chapter to the story of Laurel, Huck and yes, even Abigail. It has all the elements of an intriguing story: characters that have been evolving and growing throughout the series, a murder mysteries to solve and of course many plot twists and surprises.
It is enjoyable to watch the ever-confident Laurel navigate the nuances of interacting with people and her budding romantic relationship with Huck.
It definitely can be read as a stand-alone, but why would you, when the first two are just as good!!

The gripping suspense and beautiful romance between Laurel and Huck had me well and truly hooked. I couldn’t put it down.

I have loved Laurel and Huck throughout this entire series so far. They are good for each other. Huck is reintegrating into society and coming back to life because of Laurel. Laurel’s relationship with Huck is encouraging her to improve her skills in reading people and interacting with them. His quiet strength and acceptance of all her quirks are exactly what Laurel needs to thrive. They are so strong together, despite some misgivings that Laurel might have. Strong enough to withstand Abigail’s insidious meddling.

Abigail is terrifying. She manages to be subtle and obvious all at the same time. Laurel knows Abigail is guilty, but she just can’t find the proof she needs.

The plot takes us on a thrilling ride and keeps us guessing as to the identity of the killer until the end. Laurel’s logical reasoning and excellent investigative skills, along with Huck’s support and her loyal team, unravel the mystery one nail-biting step at a time. And through the dangers of the investigation, Laurel has to navigate Abigail-infested waters, other family drama, and her own insecurities.

I can highly recommend this series if you like romantic suspense. I think it’s best to read these books in order. That way you will get to know Laurel and Huck better.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This review was originally posted on Books of My Heart

Review copy was received from NetGalley, Publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

The Laurel Snow series has the FBI cases in the individual books and the overall story ARC of Laurel's personal life. She is back seeing her mother, and developing a relationship with Huck, as well as friends like Kate. The series is best read in order because of the career and personal developments.

Laurel is very smart and works hard. She continues on things day and night. She takes a few too many risks. Not only is there a serial killer who might take an interest in her (although this one seems to be after men) and her batshit crazy half sister Abigail is always after her, trying to manipulate her.

In You Can Die, the serial killers seems to be unhappy with men. The killings are stabbings with Valentine's candy stuffed in their mouths. The victims all seem to have some kind of connection with a law firm, where Kate's ex-husband works. There is also the wrapping up from her previous case where the killer, Jason Abbot, was a research subject of Abigail's and he keeps trying to have Laurel visit him.

Laurel has decided to set up her FBI office in this town. Her mother is here and she likes her team. Since she is managing people, she tries to make sure Walter is recovering from his injuries in the last case. Kate has some threats because of her ex-husband so Laurel wants to make sure she and her daughters have security. Nester, the computer whiz and new agent, is mostly in the office, so he is less of a worry. New space has come available in their building but sadly, Huck's ex-fiance, the reporter has also taken space in the building. It won't be good having her in their business all the time.

Laurel is very busy trying to solve this case and avoid Abigail. She is furthering her relationship with Huck. It's a new thing for her and I'm happy to say he is working hard to make it easier for her. I look forward to see where things happen next with her big changes personally.

Gripping Intellectual Suspense!!

If you have read any Laurel Snow Thriller stories, you will understand and appreciate how she went to college a decade earlier than her peers, is whip smart, yet struggles with relating to others. She also has a psychotic half sister and is once again working a serial killer case.

This is thought provoking, edge-of-your-seat action with some humor, bits of romance, lots of relationships and intertwined lives, and a look inside a brilliant mind that watches the internet to learn others emotions so she can relate better.

I believe this could stand alone, but is most enjoyed if you read more of the series - which is no hardship at all. I highly recommend this story and the entire series. (Or anything written by Ms. Zanetti, if I’m honest)

Love a good Zanetti book, which is every one that I’ve read!
You Can Die is the 3rd in a series, which could be read as a stand-alone. I have read the 1st book also, so I feel like I got a little more out of it knowing some of the backstory.
A page turning thriller for sure! Men are being stabbed and left with candy hearts… but why? What is their connection? Special Agent Laurel Snow is on the case, which throws twists and turns along the way. Seeing her develop from the 1st book was amazing.
Let’s not forget her hunky beau Huck. So happy to see they are still developing as well.
Absolutely loved this book, with a twist at the end that I never saw coming!

As always, I also love a good book set in Washington State. Just makes it so much more real to me, as that’s my home state.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this ARC in exchange for review.

Wow! This is a fantastic mystery thriller!

When I picked up this book I did not realize it was the third in a series (Laurel Snow), however I had no issues reading it as a standalone book! I enjoyed it so much that I decided to go back and read the first two books in the series! I loved the authors writing style and the characters- both main and supporting! Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the digital advanced readers copy!!

Laurel and Huck are back in the latest Laurel Snow thriller

Just back from a temporary assignment in DC, Laurel barely has time to take off her coat before she’s called to the scene of a grisly murder. Stabbed repeatedly with Valentine candy shoved in his mouth, the killing has a ritualistic feel. As the bodies start piling up, Laurel races to find the common thread that runs between them. She’s the best at what she does, but everything becomes more complicated when her sociopathic half sister Abigail inserts herself in the middle of Laurel’s investigation.

Helping her is Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers. Where Laurel relies on logic and patterns, Huck works on gut instinct. Time spent together has Huck understanding Laurel’s sometimes mercurial moods, and Laurel is learning what it means to care about and be cared for by someone. As her investigation heats up, it seems the answers are just out of reach. But she’d never have guessed where this case is leading.

Complex characters, an intricate plot and wonderful writing keep this series interesting. I am thrilled to see the Laurel’s development as her growing relationship with Huck teaches her cues and nuances of social interactions she doesn’t always understand. And Huck is the perfect partner, a gentle and understanding with her as he is hard and unforgiving to the poachers and hunters he often deals with. She’s learning to handle Abigail who, it seems, lives to confound Laurel. Each of the secondary characters has their own personality and we learn a little more about them with each book.

The personal connections to the first victim and the twisted threads that might or might not be clues to motive keep the reader guessing. So many possibilities keep the intensity high. While reading I sometimes felt like I was in the middle of a logic puzzle. If I just laid out the board maybe I could solve the murders before Laurel does. However, she’s a lot smarter than I am. You know it’s a great thriller when you never saw THAT ending coming.

You Can Die is even more of a page-turner than the prior books in the series. Somehow, everything seems more urgent in You Can Die, and the thrilling mystery is thick with emotions as Laurel tries her best to stop yet another serial killer who is playing way too close for comfort.

This is Romantic Suspense/Mystery/Thriller, and this is the third book in the Laurel Snow series. I have the first two books in this series before picking up this book. I really feel you need to have read the first two books in this series to follow some of the things happening in this book. I love this series so much, and I loved being with the characters in this series again. The beginning of this book did not grab me, and I found it hard to follow what was going on at first. I think it is because the book started off with kids finding the body, and the kids were talking about kids stuff. I feel we as readers were dumped into the story at a weird point, but I loved the book other than that. The mystery in this book was really good, and it also did a good job keeping some of the stuff that was happening in the other books in this series going. This book had a ton of drama and some going on, but it was done well and I had no trouble following what was going on. I loved the action and fast paced of this book. I really cannot wait for the next book in this series. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zebra) or author (Rebecca Zanetti) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Special Agent and FBI profiler Laurel Snow is back with a twisted case of murder. As the bodies pile up, will she and her team be able to stop the killer before more lives are lost? The murdered men seem to be outstanding citizens, at least until she and her team delve more deeply into their lives. Her love interest, Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers’ office is located in the same building which works well for her as he often provides back up. Of course, life will never go smooth for Laurel as long as Abigail, her half-sister, is nearby. She knows that Abigail has committed crimes, whether on her own or with assistance, but has been unable to prove anything…yet. She is torn between the new case, the struggles her best friend and employee is dealing with when her missing father reappears. Laurel is an accomplished agent, academically brilliant with an eidetic memory, but will she be able to stop the killer and find the evidence that she needs to put Abigail in jail? How will the personal news she receives affect her relationship with Huck? Outstanding series! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

What is going on? This latest installment in this suspense series is a wilder ride. Just when I thought the drama could not get crazier for Laurel, Ms. Zanetti proves me wrong. When it comes to dysfunctional family dynamics, Laurel has it all. Between her missing abusive father and her stalker sister, Laurel has her hands full. I love it!

Whilst Laurel is trying to figure out the new serial killer, she is trying to stay ahead of her sister, Abigail. Whilst I usually lean favourablely towards high functional sociopaths, especially if they are female, Abigail continues to rub me the wrong way. Mostly because her integrity is missing and doesn't align with mine. Still, she does make life interesting for all.

What I love about this series is the mystery part. Watching Laurel's detecting procedures as well as how she puts the evidence together to solve the case keeps me riveted. I like how focused Laurel is on her job and she can identify her own personal biases. She is so competent that it is amusing to see her grapple with her relationship. Huck is a man with baggage that he still hasn't fully worked through. Laurel and Huck are constantly being tripped up by Abigail. It is icky how Abigail goes after Huck.

Fortunately Huck and Laurel are mature adults and are able to communicate with each other. Even of they have issues, they are able to work it out. I like that their relationship isn't an instalove. Instead this relationship is more realistic with its moving a step forward and a few steps back.

This suspense is recommended to readers who enjoy detective work and family drama.
