This is the second book in the coronation close series, and it was great to catch up with characters who have become as familiar as friends.
As we delve deeper into their lives, it appears everyone has their own struggles and challenges, needing the help of their friends in the close knit close.
I’m thoroughly enjoying this series and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. I really look forward to reading the next one!

It was great to be back in the close for the second book in the series. It could be read as a standalobe book but makes more sense if you have read the first. This time we find out more about Thelma and her life as well as seeing the residents react to a long held secret.

The book ends with the promise of more to come and I look forward to the next installment. A great way to pass a bank holiday weekend.

Thank you for the chance to read this ARC in return for my honest opinion.

I loved the first book int the series and looked forward to this one - though it would be possible to read this as a stand-alone book and still be able to follow the characters and the storyline.

It was great to meet those that quickly seem like old friends and to be able to imagine their lives to a certain extent.
The outcome of the Dorothy and ‘Harriet’ story was very sad and it would have been lovely to find out how Harry was treated and whether it seemed fair in this day and age.

This book centred more around Thelma - she suffered terribly at times but obviously loved ‘her Royals’ and the Coronation whilst overcoming what had happened to her earlier in the book, I had to remind myself at times which Coronation was being referred to - maybe I read just too much historical fiction.

I understand this is part of a series but for me this book ended very abruptly - I presume we find out more in the next book but I felt slightly cheated by the end.

However this has not put me off looking out for the next instalment of a well written, well researched series

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I loved reading this book, felt like I was there with the characters.

The story is set at the time of the coronation of king george, the residents plan a street party to mark the occasion.

New neighbours arrive, bringing their own problems.

It’s a story of friendship and relationships. I can’t wait to find out what’s next in store for the characters.

I recommend this book.

Nice story of the families of Coronation Close. Secrets turn out to be not so bad as they all think they will be. Fun read.

Loved it!!! I was thrilled to be back in Coronation Close with old friends. Jenny and her two daughters are well settled in now and Jenny's friendship with Thelma is well cemented, The book is set in 1937 and during the story we have the Coronation of King George with a street party to celebrate. Thelma's son George comes home on leave which makes Thelma ecstatic! The faithful Bert is still on the scene. Thankfully Roy, Jenny's husband only makes a token appearance. She is torn between Charlie, who I thought was a smarmy git and Robin, an old friend who has his own problems.
Dorothy and 'Harriet' her sister have their lives changed drastically and Cath is still going around in her metal curlers. My heart went out to 'Harriet', it's such a sad story.
Most of this book is taken up with Thelma's story and that was just fine by me. She's by far my favourite character. She's strong and sassy and stands up for her friends. She also looks out for her neighbours. She goes through a very traumatic experience and I felt so sorry for her. Then she does something which I think she's going to regret.
There are also two lots of new neighbours in the Close and I think there will be fireworks.
I feel like I know these people, I laugh and cry with them and get angry when anyone harms or hurts them. I think that's a sign of a really good writer and I can't wait for the next one!!

Many thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for an early copy.

The secrets that we keep, shameful secrets, book two.

1937 Coronation Close, Knowle West Estate, city of Bristol.
Thelma Dawson's beloved son George is coming home from sea, she cannot wait to get home from her full time job at Bertrams Modes but her happiness of having her son home is shattered on her way home, but she mustn't cry nothing no nightmare is going to ruin the party, it's a secret she is going to have to keep. Even her best friend and neighbour in the close Jenny Crawford has no clue.

This is a story full of love, relationships and friendships, as we get to know more of the characters.
And welcome new neighbours along the way.
As your reading you are drawn into the book as if you are there with them all, the style of writing is captured in every chapter right to the end, look forward to more in this lovely series.

This book is aptly named as some of the neighbours have secrets they really don’t want revealed. It just proves the saying “no one knows what goes on behind closed doors “
Taking part in the coronation celebrations gives the inhabitants something to look forward to during difficult times. The thing that helps is the pulling together of the neighbours.
My own favourite character was Jenny Crawford who deserves some happiness in her life but she never fails to help others.

The 2nd book in the Coronation Close series. A great read full of wonderful characters and stories, although a series this can be read as a stand alone, telling the stories of Jenny and Thelma and their lives and families, living in Coronation Close. Lizzie Lane at her best another great family saga that leaves you wanting more, looking forward to the next instalment. Well deserved 5⭐️

Lizzie Lane delivers a great story once again with a story that follows the lives of the women living in Coronation Close in Bristol before WWII, "Shameful Secrets on Coronation Close". which follows the lives and relationships of Thelma and Jenny, along with various neighbors in the Close. This book is a continuation of "New Neighbors on Coronation Close" but can truly be a standalone book because enough details are given to be able to follow along through the lives of the characters.

Weaving through the ups and downs of the ladies along with the relationships that they are nurturing with their neighbors and the men in their lives. Navigating life in Bristol, UK in 1937 where the world is changing and women are slowly taking more and more liberties. Not knowing what is coming on the horizon in the form of WWII these women are already taking care of their families and friends on their own.

Having read Lizzie Lane's other series of books I jumped when I saw a new book was available and had to read it and give feedback immediately. Lizzie has the great nact of creating characters and interweaving their lives that make you want to keep reading and reading more. I am always a dissapointed when the book ends but am so excited when a new book publishes!

Firstly thank you Netgalley for this Arc

What a brilliant book second in the series . Family saga at its best. If you love family saga and wartime books you will love this. Full of different emotions but through all poverty they still pull together. Makes you feel like you are one of the characters
