Macro Cooking Made Simple r is a book that not only offers a plethora of recipes but also provides an in-depth understanding of the macro lifestyle, making it an essential guide for those new to this dietary approach. The author has done an exceptional job of explaining what macros are, how to track them, and the types of food that fall into each group. This level of detail allows even the most novice cook or dieter to grasp the concept easily. Love the selection of recipes! This cookbook is a keeper!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I understand and follow the concept of macros, but I was not interested in any recipes in this cookbook.

I'd like to thank the publisher, author, and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm an avid cookbook lover, and I loved finding something that had a macro breakdown included. I'd tried tracking macros a couple of times, but since I make everything at home and don't buy much pre-processed food it was always too hard. This book was incredibly helpful in that arena.

I also loved that it gave a way to calculate macros and an explanation on why it was broken down that way (the multiple types of macro breakdowns helped tailer it to my diet).

The pictures were also beautiful and made me actually want to cook and eat that food!

This really does break down macro cooking simply for anyone wanting to start tracking. I do like the recipes that were included. Also the tracker portion was super helpful.

Macro information is so often left out of recipes, this was a refeshing read to have gthem detailed for you so you can easily find something with the correct Macros for you.
It would have been nice if the calories could have been included as eell, I know they can be calculated from the Macros but including them would make this a perfect recipe book.

Thnks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read Macro Cooking Made Simple.

The perfect cookbook, I have so much envy that this is not on my cooking bookshelf in my kitchen. The book is beautiful and bright, the text is clear and the recipes are simple yet exciting. The problem I encountered was that it does not work well with the Netgalley app, it is not available in E-book format on the Kindle app, I would struggle to use this day to day in the format it is in, which is unfortunate as the content appeals to me.

I knew nothing about macros so I found this book a good starting point.

The book contains information about what you need to know about macros, what equipment you will need to prepare this food and what food you should be buying.

The pictures are good and the meals simple and easy to follow.

It was fine. Might be good for someone who is just starting to learn about macros. A lot of recipes were a little too simple. Simple to the point of "do i really need a recipe for this??"

What I Loved

This was great timing because the nutritional talk at my bootcamp refresh was all about macros! I'm now measuring my macros and optimizing my intake against my wish to build more muscle in the gym.
The ratio guide, giving suggestions for different lifestyles, is very helpful
Varied selection of recipes
Lovely illustrations

NB: My longer blog post will include a description of the book from the publisher. It will be published on 20 April, URL will be: https://www.isthismutton.com/2023/04/is-this-mutton-books-edition-april.html

This is a great book for anyone who's interested and wants to focus more on the macros. It explains what macros are and how we benefit from them and it comes with a list of where to find them and a list of tools needed in the kitchen to prepare all the recipes mentioned in the book. The recipes are easy to follow and the photos look great too.

A good book about macro cooking. It gives the information one needs to understand what it is all about and how to count calories for one's own personal need. Straight forward, easy to understand, no nonsense. I was maybe not too interested in most of the recipes, but I will try out a few of them.

Macro Cooking Made Simple is a well written beginner accessible monograph on clean eating and macro cooking by Rachel Werner. Due out 25th April 2023 from Quarto on their Chartwell imprint, it's 160 pages and will be available in hardcover format.

The book is aimed at beginners searching for accessible info about making informed choices about eating in order to promote a healthy lifestyle and gain follow-on physical and mental health benefits. The introductory chapters contain an impressive amount of background and how-to information including why, how, and what. The author is knowledgeable and at the same time has an appealingly informal stayle. The fourth chapter has a solid introduction to meal planning and contains resources and info which are useful even if not used in the context of macro-counting and cooking.

The second section includes the recipes, arranged by mealtimes: breakfast, mains, sides, snacks, and beverages. Ingredient measurements are supplied in imperial (American) units with metric in parentheses (yay). The nutritional information includes calories, fat, protein, and carbs. Each recipe has a header with special labels such as nut-free, gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, etc along with a short description of the recipe and approximate prep-times. Extra tips or recipe alternatives are listed in text boxes in the recipes. The recipes themselves are fairly straightforward and are made for the most part with easily sourced ngredients. Many are very simple, none of them are overly complex.

The photography is gorgeous and abundant. In fact the photography was one of the highlights for me. This not a vegetarian or otherwise plant based collection though it does have many vegan/vegetarian friendly recipes (and many more which can easily be adapted to plant based ingredients).

The book includes a very short abbreviated bibliography for further reading as well as a cross-referenced index.
Four stars. It would make a superlative housewarming gift to a friend or family member or friend trying to eat more health consciously with better quality ingredients. It would also make a good supplemental text in an educational setting (nutrition, physiology, etc) or for library acquisition.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
