"Greenwild" is recommended for Middle Grade readers who appreciate light fantasy and themes of friendship and nature conservation. While the characters and setting are charming, those seeking more in-depth character development and plot intricacies might approach the series with caution. However, for a quick and engaging read that sparks curiosity about the natural world, "Greenwild" offers an accessible entry into the magical adventures of Lily and Oliver.

First off, wow, just WOW. There's so much to love about this book: The engaging characters; The SUPERB worldbuilding; The high stakes mystery. This was an utter delight to read, and a highly impressive debut.

The way Thomson describes her settings and the elements within, is so colorful and downright delicious. I can't think of a better word, the pocket world of Mallowmarsh is wonderfully lush.

I see that there's already a sequel in the works and I am absolutely ecstatic. The hardest thing about reviewing books I adore is that it's hard to not just rain down compliments.

This book is perfect for anyone who loves rich and whimsical worlds and lore, a cross thread mystery, and a powerful oomph of emotion. I daresay I got mistyeyed a few times.

Perfect for children and in-betweeners, and a cozy return to charming mysteries for adults. Greenwild is a spinning hug from a long lost friend. I cannot recommend this one enough!

Eleven-year-old Daisy Thistledown knew her mom kept secrets- giant, dangerous secrets. Now her mom has disappeared, and Daisy is determined to find her.

Her search brings her to a hidden doorway in a simple shop. When she steps through, she finds herself in an entirely different world. Greenwild is magical, both figuratively and literally. Daisy can barely believe her eyes. But after a few minutes, she realizes that what she sees is completely real.

What she also realizes is that there are people who strive to destroy this beautiful place, and Daisy is determined to stop them. Daisy has to save Greenwild and find her mom in this tween fantasy book.

This was such a fun take on The Secret Garden. Full of creativity and whimsy, I absolutely loved the Greenwild world.

A pleasant new fantasy series with a diverse set of characters and a unique magic structure. All of the plot points are pretty easy to guess and parts of the work feel weirdly rushed, but I'd happily keep my eye out for future books in the series. Fans of Harry Potter may well like this work (certainly they will be able to identify common plots and themes) both to read themselves or have read to them (if younger) as a multi-week bedtime story

This was such a lovely middle-grade! I enjoyed the story, as it was full of whimsy. The main character was very likable, and I found the plot to be strong. All in all a great read that I can heartily recommend!

I unfortunately kill most plants I come into contact with, but I loved this world so, so much and I hope we get more of it!

The books that make me especially happy while reading them have a few things in common: magic, nature, and good friends. This checks all those boxes (and more)! The author definitely has knowledge of plants, because OMG. THE. PLANTS. The creativity and visual descriptions were like mind candy for me. It made me giddy to feel like I was discovering a new world again. This was such a delightful debut novel and the illustrations were a bonus. I can't wait to buy a physical copy!

Good greeness! The most fantastical, vibrant world of green magic, quirky creatures (giant otters, hot pink porcupines and dolphins) and a charming group of magical children who attempt to take on an impossible, a quite dangerous task. Daisy was such a delightful, compassionate heroine and Napoleon made the most adorable sidekick as the pair investigated why Botanists, including Daisy’s mother, were vanishing.

There were so very many things I loved. The world building Thomson delivered was exceptional, giving the reader the most vivid, otherworldly descriptions of this lush world that is Greenwild. Along with that, the nature inspired names for the characters were delightful - Daisy, Ivy, Acorn, Marigold. You could get a sense of their green magic and abilities from their delightful monikers. And the plants! From fragrant magnolias that can steal memories, ferocious blood-brambles, bubblegum blowing bushes, enchanted topiaries that require feeding… the creativity and visuals were STUNNING.

But mostly, I loved the reminder to young readers that one cannot simply take the magic offered by nature, but must also tend to and act as a guardian of the earth. Greenwild is not only a fun, mysterious middle grade fantasy, but an excellent conduit to discuss the importance of conservation with younger readers and to stand up to the Grim Reapers who are destroying the earth.

Fun, adventurous, sweet, and lovable are perfect ways to describe this book. Daisy and her attitude feels like sunshine and the Greenwild sounds so beautiful and enchanting. The storyline was amazing as well.
