Overall good book but I felt like it needed more content I wanted more of Emily and Hawk... The ending was cute but it just didn't seem finished and maybe could have gone on a bit longer. Spicy scenes though and an alpha biker male what else could a woman ask for lol...

I loved his motorcycle club romance. It’s a quick read, and even though it is the 8th book in a series I was able to read and follow it even though I have not read the rest of the series. The way Hawk stepped up & saved Emily, then helped her find somewhere safe which she was eventually able to call home. I really enjoyed this quick read which had some suspense in addition to the steam.

Thank you NetGalley, Evernight and Lila Fox for the ARC of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is really a very quick or short read. A lot takes place in the opening pages as Hawk saves Emily and then must work at gaining her trust. When he finally has her trust and set up a place to leave she now feels abandoned by Hawk until something happens to her once again and now he can’t put his feelings aside. This is a really good story with very good characters, wished it was just longer.

3.5 for this one…
This was short and sweet. I loved the plot but wished it would’ve been longer. I feel that this story could have been 5/5 if the author went more into depth about Emily’s backstory or about the person who knocked her out.
Shoutout to NetGalley for the ARC!

When I requested this I did not see that it was book 6 in a series. I still can’t find if this series can be read as stand alone, but it read like it can be. This book is super short. I was not aware it was a novella, and it should be listed as one. The writing was fine, a bit corny, and the story was fine, but way too short to get into.
Recommended For: Those who like very bad boys in their romance books.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I am new to Lila Fox and the only complaint I have about this book is that it was TOO SHORT! I wanted so much more. I was sorry to see it end but I was also so happy for the couple. I look forward to more from this author.

A very quick read, would I say it a spicy beach novel?

Not as much character development, It could have used even more of that, or more s*x

I enjoyed it as a quick entertainment.

This was a great quick read that hit in all the right places. I could have definitely read a couple hundred more pages, and I loved the interaction either the other mc. I will definitely look into this authors other books.

I have to say that this book honestly is just not for me ! I just couldn’t get into the biker life with the “death” to it.!

It was written great tho! It was written like your were in there with them!

Good storyline, Good biker comradery. Enjoyed this short read and would love to seem more from this author.

Short Motorcycle romance. Hawk & Emily meet when he saves her from a group of men who mean to harm her, and takes her to a safe house. The MC ends up settling too. Fun read, good spice, not a lot of it though. The third person narrative was a bit distracting, but it was enjoyable.

My rating for this book/novella is a three star. It had all the hallmarks of a good MC romance, male main who appears to be a "touch her and you wont see tomorrow" kind of guy. The female lead needs help though she is not totally helpless, just usually in the wrong place at the wrong time. It even had the true clubhouse with the "old ladies" who run the place and the ladies of the night who are there for the single men.

Unfortunately where it had all those key components its was missing bigger details that honestly made it harder to get lost in the book. A great story, be it a novella or not, needs world building as well as character detail and sadly this is lacking. From the start of the story there is no detail of where you are or what the places look like, even more so once you get to the club house. That was where I really wanted more detail, as they were there for the remainder of the story. For the characters you do not get any detail on Hawk, our male lead, until over half way through and its not much, even less on our female Emily. There is also no information on how the other characters introduced throughout the story which was annoying as they were there just as much as the leads.

Its a quick novella in my opinion as it only has 20 chapters and most, if not all chapters are short. If you do not mind not having lots of detail on location and characters, give this book a read. If those are sticking points for you then I would suggest passing or using this as a book to get you out of a slump. The potential was there for so much more and sadly was missed.

I love MC books and I really wanted to like this but it fell a bit short. It was a super short read, and I think this meant that we didn’t have time to delve into the characters or plot. It was one minute they met, then instantly in love even though he was harsh to her? Just way too quick and no development to it. Maybe the writing style wasn’t for me but I just wish there was a bit more to discover and make it longer to do this,

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for my advanced readers copy of Emily’s Essence.
Content Warnings: assault and mentions of abuse and rape
Emily is in big trouble. Running from her abusive father she finds herself meeting a biker called Hawk. Hawk helps her out and takes her to a safe place with other bikers and women. Emily and Hawk are instantly drawn to each other. But when Emily gets hurt will Hawk and the others be able to protect her?
This book is a solid 3 out of 5 stars for me. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and the way Hawk took care of Emily was so sweet. The ending did feel rushed and I wish we had more time to dive into Emily’s past. Overall this book was an enjoyable quick and easy read.

This was a fast and steamy read! I read it straight through in about 3 hours and loved every page. I liked that while Emily's gone through some trauma, it wasn't the focus of her character or the plot. Emily deals with it and moves forward. I also appreciated that Hawk is respectful of the trauma she's suffered, but let's her be the one to say whether she's ready or not, and trusts that she knows herself.
I haven't read the other books in the series, but I'll definitely be picking them up!

1/5 stars.
Honestly, this just wasn't for me. I thought there were like minimally cute moments but that is pushing it. I know it was a short read but the dialogue was terrible. It would be like, "I'm going outside now" "okay, me too" "we are now outside". It felt very robotic. The characters had no depth. you could argue that it was too short of a read to have depth but I've read other works that were just as short but had well developed characters in that time.

My rating system:
0: DNF
1: not for me
2: not bad
3: good
4: excellent
5: exceptional

I liked the start of the story, but the characters didn't "wow" me. The story is about a man named Hawk who is a nomad and woman named Emily, who is running from her abusive father. When Emily is taken by a group of men, Hawk and his friends find her and rescue her along with several other women. There were quite a few plot holes which I'm wondering if they will be addressed in the next book(s) in the series.

This book was a delight from the very first page, and had me hooked in to see where this relationship between Emily and hawk would go, before I was even finished with the first chapter ,I knew where I had hoped, and wished that their relationship would go . The writer did a very excellent job at keeping me interested . I read this book in one day. Every time I put it down. I had to turn around and pick it up. I was telling myself just one more page. It ended up being a whole book. It was an easy read, because it was filled with raw intentions and emotions. I can tell you this if you like romance books you’ll like this, but if you wanted to find a romance book with a sexy twist and a little erotica between a bad boy and a good girl this is the book for you.

The premise wasn’t bad. But it felt rushed. One minute, I was starting the book, and suddenly it was over. I understand that it’s erotica, but there are plenty of erotica novels that have stories. This one just felt like a rush to sex that character development didn’t matter.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Evernight Publishing for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is prt of a series, but reads well as a stand alone. Emily runs away from an abusive father and runs into Hawk. He is the President of an MC. This is a short ok read. Characters were okay. I actually liked that they were flexible. 3 stars
