"Burlington" by Heather Dixon is a thrilling and captivating read that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The author's writing style is top-notch, with a well-paced plot that's full of tension, suspense, and suspicion. From the very beginning, readers will find themselves theorizing and trying to solve the mystery alongside the main character.

Mae and her family have just moved into the exclusive neighborhood of Burlington. With their perfect homes, perfectly manicured lawns and seemingly perfect families, Burlington is a dream for Mae. After meeting some of the other mothers in the neighborhood, it is obvious that there are certain expectations that are to be upheld by the women in the neighborhood when it comes to appearance, loyalty and friendship. After multiple women go missing, Mae begins to question if Burlington was the right move for her and her family.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Heather Dixon and Rising Action Publishing for allowing me to read Burlington before it’s release on Aug 22!

Thank you to Rising Action Publishing Co and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC. Unfortunately, this just was not for me. I hate reality TV and this book felt like way too much snotty housewife gossip and not enough mystery. If you're a gossip/drama fan this may be a better fit for you than it was for me.

Absolutely perfectly observed book. I felt like the characters could live on my street. It’s the perfect book for readers that need good suspense and greatly written characters.

Burlington by Heather Dixon was an amazing domestic suspense novel.

This book had me hooked early on, and I couldn't put it down.
It was so well written, and the characters are very interesting.
Dixon kept me turning the pages with her sharp writing and fantastic suspense.
My first time reading her work and I can’t wait to pick up the next.

This was a quick read that kept me interested.
The epilogue didn’t give anything and felt like it would be taken out all together. I would have liked to hear more about after the big event happens, and how they settle back into life. Overall, good easy read!

Right off the bat, this story gave off 'Stepford Wives' vibes, and I freaking loved it.

Mae and her family of four moved to Burlington, where her two kids attend Riverpark Elementary. The school has a group of moms-- wealthy, beautiful, and full of themselves. They rule the school and the social goings on surrounding it. Mae gets caught up in their creepy little cult in multiple ways. And then her one genuine friend in town turns up missing. The moms and their husbands act so weird about it and there's no end to the scenarios they could be involved in with her disappearance.

These moms are freaks and I loathed every one of them. I even found myself disappointed in Mae and Alice for associating with them in any way. They creeped me out and made me mad at every turn. There was no doubt in my mind they all had something to do with Alice's disappearance.

I was intrigued and interested, though I would have liked a bit more suspense. A lot happened but most of it was bleh, mundane drama that was inconsequential to the plot. More twists would have been better.

If you love Liane Moriarty, you'll love this.

Fun new debut from a Canadian author at a small press - rich moms going missing right after our outsider heroine moves to town. While it’s predictable to compare this story to “Big Little Lies”- if you like that genre you will enjoy this book.

A move to Burlington, Vermont seems perfect to Mae Roberts. After an impoverished but loving childhood, she never thought she’d live in a large, gorgeous house in a wealthy section of town. Her daughters are students at Riverpark Elementary, the best public school in the city. Her husband Drew has a new, well paying job and Mae can now be a stay at home mother. Her life seems ideal. It is not. She notices that the athleisure wearing mothers of Riverpark Elementary are cliquish, dress alike (the pompom hats!) and follow the lead of Evelyn, who just happens to be married to Drew’s boss. After a strange dinner party, Mae is invited to be part of the group even though she isn’t sure she belongs. She’s right. Her new friends are insecure, judgmental and obsessively concerned about looks and behavior. Mae thinks she has figured out how to fit in…until women start to disappear.

Burlington, a domestic thriller, provides a disturbing look at the dark side of suburbia. While I enjoyed the premise and found Mae too be a sympathetic character, I thought some of the behaviors were unrealistic and over the top. 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Rising Action Publishing Co. and Heather Dixon for this ARC.

Mae Roberts and her husband Drew move to the suburbs of Burlington, Vermont with their two children and feel like they are living their dream. Although Mae is more of an introvert, she finds herself being drawn into the popular clique of beautiful and rich mothers of the Riverpark Community. But everything may not be as perfect as it seems.. When one of the mothers, Alice, goes missing, Mae begins to doubt and question everything about this community. Rumors and secrets begin to surface and Mae struggles to find the truth behind all of the lies. This was an entertaining read but it fell a little flat for me in the end. I gave this novel 3 stars.

Meh. Not super impressed with this one. It was so promising for the first half with a few mysterious plot points and then…… it all culminated in a deflating conclusion. I didn’t necessarily guess the ending, but I could think of a few different ways that this could have concluded that would have been more intriguing. I generally liked Mae & her perspectives, as well as some other secondary characters. Generally ok but definitely not high on my list.

Oh my goodness, this book sucked me in! I love when a story does that. Dixon did a fantastic job creating interesting characters in a setting in Vermont. There was mystery but much more about being a new mom in a new town and how it can be super difficult to make friends. I enjoyed this a lot! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Five stars!
