Have you seen the movie 13 going 30 with Jennifer Garner, and enjoyed it? Then you will enjoy this book too! It was a funny concept and I liked it! It's a quick read with a lot of romance and has it sweet moments. I sometime try to squeeze in to read YA books but I feel like I've grown up from liking these genre...

Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.

This was a great book. I connected with the characters. I felt engrossed with the plot. I would read another book by this author.

In Amy Lea's "Woke Up Like This," type-A high school senior Charlotte Wu faces an unexpected challenge when she's tasked with planning the perfect prom alongside her longtime adversary, J.T. Renner. Despite their history of friction, their worlds collide in a surprising twist when a mishap leads to a time-traveling adventure that lands them in 2037 as engaged and utterly bewildered 30-year-olds. As Charlotte and J.T. navigate the unfamiliar terrain of adulthood and attempt to return to their teenage selves, they are forced to confront their adolescent animosity while maintaining appearances in the present time. Along the way, they discover hidden depths to their relationship and unravel the complexities of love and friendship.
"Woke Up Like This" offers a delightful blend of humor, romance, and nostalgia, reminiscent of the beloved rom-com "13 Going on 30." With its charming characters and captivating storyline, this novel is a swoon-worthy time-travel journey that will leave readers longing for more.

This was such a sweet, emotional YA story! I love Amy’s writing and thought the characters were so relatable and well developed.
WHAT TO EXPECT
-enemies to lovers
-opposites attract
-Asian rep
-he falls first
*many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the gifted copy

This is our modern day "Thirteen Going on Thirty!" So much fun and such a cute premise.
Waking up 13 years after prom married to your arch nemesis, that sounds TERRIFYING, and Amy Lea made it such a fun read!

Amy Lea, known for her captivating contemporary romances, pleasantly surprised me with her venture into young adult fiction with "Woke Up Like This." While YA hasn't typically been my go-to genre lately, I found myself thoroughly engrossed in this novel, and dare I say, I wouldn't mind if Lea continued to explore YA in the future.
What struck me most about this book was its impeccable writing and the authenticity of its protagonist, Charlotte. A high school senior with a penchant for control and perfectionism, Charlotte's journey of self-discovery and growth resonated deeply with me. Her struggles with friendship dynamics, bottled-up emotions, and evolving perceptions felt both relatable and genuine.
Initially wary of the time-travel element in the story, I was pleasantly surprised by how seamlessly Lea incorporated it into the narrative. Charlotte and her rival, J.T. Renner, find themselves catapulted from 18 to 30 years old, confronting unexpected engagements and unforeseen revelations about their futures. Witnessing their transformation and the ripple effects on their present-day interactions was both entertaining and thought-provoking.
However, what lingered with me the most after finishing the book was its exploration of friendship and its evolution over time. Charlotte's experiences with both supportive and toxic friendships sparked introspection about my own relationships, even as an adult. Lea masterfully navigated these themes, prompting readers of all ages to reflect on the dynamics of friendship and romance portrayed in the novel.
In summary, "Woke Up Like This" earns an A+ for its compelling storytelling, relatable characters, and insightful exploration of friendship and self-discovery. It's a book I couldn't tear myself away from, and one I would enthusiastically recommend to teenagers and adults alike.

As a huge fan of Amy Lea I was so excited to receive this ARC and it did not disappoint.
This book had the best nostalgic feeling of 90s to early 2000s rom-com and that was amazing to read. It felt like a love letter to the era of classic rom-coms and it was much appreciated.
This book had some of my favourite tropes - Enemies to lovers and He falls first (YEAH!). The characters were fun and relatable. the story was compelling and I could not put the book down. JT was such a godsend to Charlotte's life with his sweetness and goofiness which made a teenage me, who shared a lot of the same organized traits with the FMC, very happy to see.
Overall I enjoyed this book quite a lot and am looking forward to whatever else Amy Lea comes up with next.

A fun, quick and easy read. Nothing speciat but very entertaining and for fans of 13 going on 30 or freaky friday. Sweet romance with enjoyable characters.

The fun cover first pulled me in, and then the premise of the book was fantastic! I loved 13 Going on 30, so this was super cute to read! It is YA!! I had to remind my normally NA/Adult Romance reading brain that a few times! lol This was a hit, and I look forward to more by this author!

A 13 going on 30 (17 in this case) x Never Have I Ever inspired plot? Pretty obvious I was going to love it! This book is perfect for all the Romcom lovers. Although it’s more fitting for the younger audience, the teen in me loved this book and it became my comfort read.
The story revolves around Char and J.T (high school frenemies) who have to work together for their upcoming prom, but things take a turn when a fall of the ladder sends them to future! They wake up 13 years ahead in time, engaged to each other. Imagine the horror!
I always love such time-loop plots so I thoroughly enjoyed following their story as they navigated their way through this newly discovered life. The banter and pull between the two is so good! The author has also thrown in quite a few life lessons inbetween all the chaos, and that truly makes this one a wholesome read.
This is a joyful, heartwarming, swoony romcom that I will most definitely recommend to anyone who loves reading a light & easy romance.

If you liked the movie 15 going on 30, you will love this book as well. We follow high school student Charlotte as she is navigating the last few weeks of high school. Trying to have a great time, by also dealing with her enemy JT.
Involves some time travel.
I really liked this one. It was a super cute read.

Great book! Very 13 goes on 30 but make it sort of genZ and relatable. Imagine waking up 13 years from prom, engaged to your nemesis?? I ATEE.
It was heartwarming and cute. Loved the character development. Overall a very fun and light hearted read.

Gives 13 going on 30 vibes, but falls a little flat. Still a fun and easy read, but not much more to say than that.

Woke Up Like This by Amy Lea was a fun read. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I didn't know anything about this book going into it and felt it read like the movie 13 going on 30. Two high seniors who supposedly hate each other, are working on decorating for prom when they hit their heads; a ladder is involved. When they come to, they are 30 yrs old and engaged. They discover a lot of things about their younger selves, and learn from their older selves too. It is entertaining! I would definitely read this author again.

This was an easy, fun read. Definitely very similar to 13 going on 30. However, this time 2 people go forward in time after an accident where they hit their heads.
It’s a nice book, but Charlotte, the main character was very immature for her age. She is a senior in high school in the book, but had the maturity of someone much younger. I think this book may have been written for an audience around 13-15 years old. If you are not into young adult type stories, this would not be the book for you.

OMG! Woke Up Like This is the Perfect Rom-Com Escape! 💖
This book is like a fluffy cloud with a sprinkle of butterflies! Charlotte and J.T. went from frenemies to fiancees in one freak accident (don't worry, it's the cute kind!). Their time travel adventure is hilarious, and their journey of rediscovery had me swooning.
It's like 13 Going on 30 meets high school rom-com, but with even more laughs! If you're looking for a feel-good story that will make you believe in love at first sight (well, maybe seventeenth!), then this is the book for you!

I usually have a tough time enjoying Young Adult fiction. YA can quickly go from cute to corny/cheesy. I did not have that problem with this book and really enjoyed it. First, the characters were likeable. JT as. a main MC, PERFECT! Char, although she can be neurotic, OCD, and a know it all; the author did a great job fleshing her out, that you understand and appreciate why she is that way.

I originally didn't intend to read this book given that it's YA romance, but when I read the synopsis and realized how similar it was to 13 Going on 30 I thought I'd give it a go. Honestly, it was... fine. And not necessarily in a "this book is just average" way, because I think teenager me would've really liked it, but it just was a bit too juvenile for me.

A super fun, high school version of 13 going on 30. I enjoyed this rom com so much! Readers learn to really live in the moment and enjoy life and those who are in yours. Also the enemies to lovers trope was done so well!
