I couldn’t have loved this more. It felt like being immersed in the cutest rom com, specifically 13 going on 30. It was cozy and cute and funny and made me smile and I didn’t want it to end,

Another great read from Amy Lea! I’ve read this trope/plot a couple of times recently but it was done well. Would recommend!

I have not devoured a book in less than 24 hours in ages, and this rightfully was DEVOURED. It was like every 2000s high school romcom and 13 going on 30 mixed together and I think I want to go back to 17 and try it out again with Renner and Charlotte. Seriously so cute and I could see this easily as a movie and I would gladly re-read and watch that movie over and over again. Perfect YA/clean romance.

I really tried and wanted to love this one but unfortunately it just didn't do it for me, I had to stop reading.

Thank you to NetGalley and Mindy’s Book Studio for the ARC!
Navigating a series of adventures and a confounding new normal, Charlotte and Renner will do whatever it takes to find a way back to seventeen. This was a fun, quick read and gave 13 Going on 30 vibes, which I loved. Had a good time reading this and found myself smiling at the banter and high school-isms.

I couldn’t put this down. I loved how perfectly teenage angst was portrayed, how familial relationship strain was expressed, and how it wasn’t the traditional storyline. This was good on so many fronts. I found myself smiling through the good parts, tearing up through the strain between Charlotte and her dad, and even highlighting quotes that were not only true, but hit close to home. This whole book was expertly done, and so much fun to read.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with a digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

“Woke Up Like This” by Amy Lea is such a fun read. With the nostalgic vibes of “13 going on 30” and the enemies to lovers trope built in, this story is the perfect YA book.
This book is such a quick read too! It’s perfect for a cozy night in.
Thank you NetGalley, Amy Lea, and Mindy’s Book Studio for gifting me this ARC.

Charlotte, student council vice president and queen of organization, is struggling to contain her annoyance at having to plan senior prom with her archnemesis, J.T. Renner. While the two are decorating for prom early one morning, Charlotte gets distracted by yet another argument with Renner and falls off a ladder right on top of him. The next thing they know, to their shock, they are waking up in bed together at the age of 30. Even more disturbing, they discover that they are engaged...to each other. Charlotte and Renner must work together to fill in the missing gaps over the last 13 years and get back in time to their teenage lives.
I absolutely adored this sweet YA rom com, which made me laugh, cry, and swoon. Woke Up Like This reminded me so much of one of my favorite movies, 13 Going on 30, with an added injection of witty banter and somehow even more lovable characters. This is my first Amy Lea book, and I immediately put her entire backlist on hold at the library upon finishing it because I loved it so much. I think this book would be perfect for Emily Henry fans and for anyone who considers 13 Going on 30 to be an staple movie during their childhood.

Thank you to NetGalley and Mindy's Book Studio for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

So good. I was so happy this one was selected for me. I don't understand why this one isn't seen all over the place. I would also highly recommend adding this to as an audio read. Its was so well done.

Amy Lea has delivered a beautiful story very similar to a trope I've loved from the beginning. Time traveling, Going into the future and finding yourself in unexpected situations! So much fun! We followed Charlotte and JT from present day high school, where they are definitely not friends, into the future as 30 year old adults whom are in a relationship that seems hard to believe.
The storyline was excellent, and we cannot help but love Charlotte and JT throughout the story. Amy has done an amazing job with building up the plot and the characters, and I highly recommend this lovely story!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

13 Going on 30 is one of my all-time favorite movies, so any time a book or a movie or a TV show comes out with a similar premise, I have to have it. Amy Lea’s latest romantic comedy, Woke Up Like This, takes the “waking up in the future” concept and doubles it. When 17-year-old Charlotte Wu wakes up in the future, she’s not alone. Next to her is her high-school nemesis, J.T. Renner—and he’s just as confused as she is. Especially when they find out their wedding is this weekend!
Woke Up Like This is a cute story featuring one of the most popular tropes in romantic comedy, the “enemies-to-lovers” transition. It’s much closer to YA than to chick lit, with its heroine very much in the mindset of a 17-year-old. Charlotte is obsessed with making lists and planning what’s next. Her girlfriends are the world to her, and she still holds a grudge against her father for divorcing her mother. The early part of the book reminded me of the book and movie Election, with Charlotte in the Tracy Flick role and J.T. as Paul.
Unlike 13 Going on 30, Charlotte doesn’t come out of the experience with deep lessons about how her missteps during her teenage years led to her becoming a bad person as an adult. Instead, the lessons are sweeter, about not judging people, valuing your friends, and enjoying the moments. More than a story about its two leads, the book is an ode to high school. For readers who still treasure their memories of prom, Woke Up Like This will be a nice reminder of those days.

I am typically NOT a YA reader and almost skipped this book when I realized it was YA - but I am so glad I didn't. It was engaging, compelling, and fun and kept me reading well into the night.

I normally don't enjoy sci-fi or anything "magical" which I do not believe in, but this was just plain old cute! If you enjoyed movies like 13 going on 30 or Jenny Han's "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" YA book, then this book is definitely for you.
Charlotte and Renner are complete opposites, she is an asian nerd/valedictorian and perhaps too serious for her age, whereas he is a jock and Mr Popular. During senior prom preparations something happens and they wake up together, aged 30?! I really enjoyed their attempts to turn back time again and return to being 17 and the discoveries they made about life as 30 year olds. Some moments were touching and others were funny.
Overall this was a light and fun read that would perhaps have gotten higher ratings from me if I was younger or could have related more to Charlotte's personality.

This book gave me all the nostalgic feels that the film 13 going on 30 gives whilst still being unique in its own right! This book felt like a 2000’s romcom and throughout the book there was homage to this! This was such a fun upbeat light hearted read and I enjoyed every second of this.
I think the only downfall of this book for me is that it read a little young, there were moments when it felt on the young side of YA and a little too naive! I personally do struggle sometimes with YA because of this but it wasn’t the entire book just some moments!
I find Amy Leas writing to be so easy to follow and so addicting - I’ve loved all the books I’ve read by her so far and I can tell that she will become an autobuy author for me!

A mash up of every iconic YA book and movie from the 90s/2000s. Honestly - it even had a kiss in the rain scene.
So much fun!

If you were ever obsessed with the movie 13 Going On 30 like I was, you’ll love this novel! Amy Lea’s writing is amazing as always, and this YA novel is just wonderful. Do yourself a favor and read it. 💜

Thank you for this book in exchange for my honest review.
I loved the trope (enemies to lovers), the glimpse into the future, the main character’s ability to figure her life out, the sweet romance between the main characters, and the fun senior year events. The whole book was a nostalgic reminder of high school and coming of age.
Amy Lea is a terrific author, no matter what book she writes.

I think this is peak YA romance. So good. I read it in less than 24 hours because I just couldn’t put it down! 17 year old Charlotte and her school nemesis wake up 13 years in the future after a freak accident in the school gym. Much to their horror, they are engaged!
The enemies to lovers tension in this is just *chef’s kiss* and the classic it’s always been you realisations - swoon 🥰 I love Charlotte and J.T.’s relationship as 17 year olds trapped in their 30 year old future selves and even when they are just 17 they just seem so meant to be. It’s a lovely story, in so many ways ❤️. I so wish there had been an epilogue of them in the future for real, I actually wanted their lives as 30 year olds confirmed because it was too cute.
I would LOVE to see this as a film - no doubt there would be “just like 13 going on 30, meh” comments but this premise is just so much better!
What to expect:
- enemies to lovers
- 13 Going on 30 vibes
- miscommunication (but done so well)
- forced proximity
- it’s always been you
- young adult romance

Woke Up Like This is 13 Going on 30 meets cute Coming of Age Rom-Com. I enjoyed how Charlotte developed throughout the book and her love-hate relationship with arch-rival JT. This book really makes you reminisce about all the special Senior Events you had in High School and how different your life could have been if you had made one different decision. I couldn't put this book down and when I had to, I looked forward to picking it right back up. Praise of Amy Lea for transporting us to this magical novel!

Life goes by fast, sure, but in Charlotte's case it's pretty much literally what happened. She falls off a ladder aged 17 and then wakes up the next moment aged 30, in a life she never could have imagined for herself. To make matters worse, her high school nemesis J.T. is in the same boat as her. They'll have to work together to make their way back to 17, but that's easier said than done.
This book combines the gimmick of 13 Going On 30 with the vibe of To All The Boys I've Loved Before. Not that Charlotte and J.T. are carbon copies of Lara Jean and Peter K., but the characters and their relationship have very similar dynamics going on.
If I hadn't needed sleep, I could have finished this book in one sitting. The story moves along at a nice pace, without losing out on the more emotional moments the characters go through.
I had already enjoyed two adult contemporary romances by this author, but this YA one was just as fun to read. I was already looking forward to her next adult read, now I'm tempted to pick up any more YA books she might write in the future.
