This book was so cute. I really liked the story line and it took me back to a place when you’re having the best time of your life your senior year of high school. It made me feel nostalgic. I highly recommend!

I love a good enemies to lovers. This also has the 13 going on 30 vibes. I just love the banter between Charlotte and JT. I could not put this one down. I loved every minute and cannot wait to read more by this author. Thank you to NetGalley and Mindy’s Book Studio for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Woke up like this was a cute coming of age novel with some romance mixed in. The story centers around the main character Charlotte and the end of her senior year of high school. I thought it was well written and an enjoyable read. I think it would be a great book for a young reader! That being said, it was just okay for me personally but that could be because I am not the target audience.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for this ridiculously sweet, funny and adorable YA read!

If you love sweet YA romances, with first crushes, young love, innocence and friendships, this book is for you!

Charlotte and J.T. Renner, two high school classmates, dealing with first crushes, heart aches, family and a huge misunderstanding leads to a series of events, one of which results in an accident that propels them into the future.

Both lost and confused have to work together to figure out what happened to them, make sense of their new reality and figure out if there's a way to get back to their high school graduation.

I really enjoyed reading this story and I loved the characters. Friendships are so tricky to navigate, especially in your teens and Lea does an amazing job shedding light on some challenging topics.

So fun! Almost like a teen rom com for adults? Very Mindy Kaliing. Highly recommend for a fun beach read or casual read. I found myself thinking about the book during reading breaks.

I really wanted to absolutely LOVE this... and it was just okay. However, I do admit that part of the reason that this was only so-so for me was because I wasn't really in a contemporary YA headspace and was expecting it to be slightly more adult (which is on me and no fault of the author).

Requested this because it was labeled as being similar to 13 Going on 30... which they literally reference in the book which felt a bit too on the nose haha. Otherwise, this was a very cute story. All the characters were pretty lovable, the plot was cute, and the "miscommunications" all seemed to make sense. Charlotte is kind of annoying at times; in some moments, her reactions make complete sense even if they do seem annoying, but others made me roll my eyes. Renner was a cutie and I think the only thing I didn't like about his character is that, as a people pleaser myself, I would not try to just lean into being someone's enemy. I would buckle down and try to make them like me even more.

Overall, I think this was more of a 3.5/5 for me, which means that I did truly enjoy it, I just don't think I will ever be picking up a physical copy to put on my shelf. As my one friend put it (who LOVED this book), it reminds her of 13 Going on 30 but mixed with To All The Boys I've Loved Before - which I think sums it up nicely and is a good pick for anyone who wants a short but sweet novel that borders YA and adult.

I think that Ex’s and O’s is still Amy’s best work but this was just an enjoyable book. I personally liked the character development and how the relationship flowed. It wasn’t anything crazy that had me on the edge of my seat but it was a fun, quick read

I really wanted to like this book – I’d heard some good things and (though there isn’t a solid reason why this should speak to quality) it was coming from a celebrity imprint so I thought I might find a gem. I wanted a fun, easy (and quick) read and this was described as Thirteen Going on Thirty for 2023 – what could go wrong?
Sadly, I didn’t find the characters very natural or realistic. It’s tricky for an adult writer to find a highschooler’s voice that rings true. As a result, I didn’t get the quick engaging read I was hoping for and it became a slog.
Not for me, but I’m sure there is an audience for this book. And I LOVE the cover!

As many may know by now I'm a huge fan if amy writing infact I would say she one of the best romcom authors of all time .
I really needed this book in my life as I've been reading so pretty heavy reads . Perfect with all the fun and sassiness that was needed ,it a brilliant feel good read brilliant YA romance with some great plot twists and very witty perfect .

The plot itself if you have not read this in won't give to much away I did love how the book had so much nostalgia, and how amy takes you on a while wind ride of adventure.

The main charaters Charlotte and Renner I loved so so so much their growth in the story was just so on point and they had a brilliant bond .

Amy writing no one really needs to as me I think it beyond fantastic she knows how to captivate her audience , it's always pure magic to me she always knows how to win my heart .

This is one of my all time favourite YA romcom this year .get out there grab yourself a copy .

I'm giving the book 5 great big sassy stars

Imagine being 17 years old and planning for your senior prom one minute and waking up to find that you’re 30 years old and about to marry your high school archnemesis. That’s the premise of Amy Lea’s latest book Woke Up Like This, and boy is it a good time!

I’m a huge enemies to lovers fan and have also been loving time loop romances lately, so this book really called to me. I’ve not read one before where both main characters ended up traveling through time together so I really appreciated Lea’s unique approach to an otherwise familiar concept. I also really enjoyed the way these characters are portrayed. Even though they supposedly cannot stand each other, Charlotte and J.T. are forced to rely on one another since they are each other’s only constant as they navigate their future lives. It was a lot of fun watching them try to puzzle out how in the world they could have possibly ended up engaged to be married at the age of 30 based on the hostile nature of the relationship between their 17-year-old selves. And of course, it’s just chef’s kiss watching their feelings for one another start to change the more they are forced to hang out together.

There’s definitely a theme in this story about the importance of slowing down to appreciate all of life’s moments versus just always speeding ahead to the next milestone. Even with that message though, I’d still say Woke Up Like This is a great choice if you’re looking for a fun and light read that you can breeze through in a few hours.

Unique take on the beloved teen trope with a vibe of Big/13 Going on 30 all wrapped up in one! I absolutely adored this so much! Charlotte & J.T. are my new favorite teen couple!

Thank you, Amy Lea, Mindy Kaling, Amazon Books, Amazon Publishing, Mindy’s Book Studio, & Netgalley for my copy! All opinions are my own.

When I read the description of the book, I thought this is going to be so much fun! 13 going on 30 is one of my favorite movies, so a good time was the least I was asking for... and I totally got it. Charlotte and Renner are the cutest couple ever seen. How their relationship starts is incredible. Please, keep writting like this and, if you are planning to write more stories on the same universe, I would like to know more about Nori.

As a thirty-something woman who usually only reads YA if it involves magic or murder, I did not expect to give this five stars! But I absolutely loved this one. It’s a delightful little rom-com with 13 Going on 30 vibes and a snarky main character I couldn’t help but root for.

Charlotte is a type A high school senior trying to plan the perfect prom while butting heads with her infuriating student council colleague, Renner. When she falls off a ladder in the school gym, she wakes up to find that she’s now 30 years old…and Renner’s fiancée.

This book was a little cheesy (yes, it does include actual dancing in the rain) but ultimately so much fun. Its teenage characters were complex and likeable, and the romance was so sweet. I think this is the kind of YA book that will entertain actual teenagers as well as the young at heart.

So, I tried to get into this story but I did not like the MC at all. Usually that’s not an issue for me but she was so annoying that it made it hard to believe anyone liked her. The bickering between the her and her love interest sounded more like two siblings and it went on for way too long. By the time the romance appears it feels so out of place. The story also didn’t really sound like a teen but more like what someone who isn’t a teen imagines they sound like. I couldn’t get on board with the romance although I liked the time travel aspect. This book was an interesting idea but not for me.

I absolutely loved this book! I love anything to do with magical realism and this book gave me exactly what I needed. I've enjoyed this author's adult fiction books, but I LOVED this YA book!

J.T and Char were such fun characters to walk alongside through the story! I did find that the first chunk of the book was pretty slow paced and did drag on for me. Once they time jumped, the story definitely picked up and I could not put the story down.

The whole premise surrounding their senior prom had me absolutely dying laughing, because there were so many moments where I just sat back and was like "ah yes, they are dumb teenagers."

Overall, if you need a great YA romance read that gives off "13 Going on 30" vibes then this is definitely the book for you!

This was a cute, fun YA romcom with time travel. It was very reminiscent of the movie 13 Going On 30, which I loved. I really enjoyed the romance in this one. It was very sweet.
