I read this book in a day and I never looked back! The twist and the plot were pretty easy to identify but the different POV's kept me intrigued to see how everything was going to unfold. A couple of the characters were so unlikable that it made it hard to feel bad or connect with them in any way. I do wish that the ending would've given a little more, I wanted to know how the characters dealt with the aftermath.

I haven't watched 13 going on 30 but I do get the gist of what it's about. This story intrigued me when I saw the summary.
After a fall from a ladder renders both Charlotte and Renner unconscious, they both wake up to discover they're not seventeen but thirty and engaged to be married in a few weeks.
They were rivals at school and Char basically hated Renner's guts so waking up as an engaged couple thirteen years into the future was definitely a shock. I loved how they both got to know more about each other even as they figured out how to get back to present time.
This was an enjoyable read! Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Simply put, I loved this book!! I was a little skeptical since I don't love *any* aspects of time travel, but I've loved this author's previous books and I love YA, so I was excited to dive right in.
Charlotte has a plan, her to do list for all the major high school milestones. She also her best frienemie, Renner who has been making her high school experience miserable since ditching her freshman year homecoming. (Or has he?) A falling off a ladder snafu leads the two of them being transported 13 years in the future, where, surprise!!! They're engaged and getting married the following week. (But how?!) Throughout their adventure to put the pieces back together and get back to 17, there's hard truths tackled, honest moments, plus sweet and make me want to melt moments. When they make it through what they needed to learn in their time travel, they're back to the gym, decorating for prom, and back to their love to hate you selves (or do they?) As prom/end of high school looms ahead, can they finish what they started 13 years in the future??
The whole time I was reading this it made me think of who would high school me wake up to if I found myself in 13 going on 30 scenario, and boy did I see myself and my best frienemie in this story!! This was us to a t, me and my to do lists, him being able to me rile me up at literally any given moment (and absolutely would) 🤣 If you were back in high school, who was your Renner??

If you love the movie 13 going on 30 then you’ll love this book. Fun read. I would recommend reading.

Oh…my….gosh! This is 13 Going On 30 vibes! Such a cute story from start to finish. Their romance was so cute and if you’re looking for something to just make you kick your feet with happiness.
I am recommending this book to my junior high students.

Cute romcom about not believing everything you hear and giving second chances. Charlotte was jilted by JT when she was 14 and has been holding a grudge ever since. It doesn’t help that she still finds him attractive and he seems to spend every moment irritating the life out of her. Then one day while putting up decorations Charlotte falls off a ladder waking up to find herself in a 30 yo body next to her fiancé TJ.
I had so much fun reading this light hearted comedy! The characters are very predictable which is a gift because you know what’s coming! This story explores the way we are always rushing to complete things and never stop to enjoy the journey. TJ and Charlotte make a cute couple and there is enough drama to keep you hooked.
If you like time travel, he falls first, jock x nerd you’ll love this book.
Thank you so much to the author, publisher and netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Amy Lea's YA debut, Woke Up Like This!! After falling off a ladder helping to set up for senior prom, Charlotte finds herself approaching 30 years old and engaged to J.T. Renner, her archnemesis. In the vein of 13 Going on 30, Char gets a taste of what her future looks like, but also learns more about what happened with Renner in their past (9th grade homecoming? Char's still not over it!). I would've loved to have Renner's POV incorporated, but otherwise really enjoyed this sweet YA story touching on the importance of family, forgiveness, and living in the present.

This is incredible!!! 13 going on 30 reincarnated and it made me so nostalgic!!
I loved this so much

I absolutely loved Woke Up Like This. I'd compare it to All the Boys I've Loved Before meets This Time Tomorrow, YA romcom with a little bit of fantasy thrown in. Charlotte and her frenemy JT end up zooming forward in time, and realizing that they might actually be perfect for each other. Fun, fresh, and easy to read, I zoomed through this in a night.

Ive been hearing about this book for a while! Now i know what the hype was about! Finding good books is one of my favorite things to do!

Thank you to Net Galley for letting me read this book for an honest review. While the book was a fairly easy read it took a while to get into. The characters, especially Charlotte were frustrating at times and the fact that it jumped from being 17 to being 30 and then back to 17 made it a bit all over the place as there were still the same characters.

I rarely leave 5 star reviews, but this book was just that good. What a feel-good novel. The plot was perfect (though I do wish there was an epilogue!!). I loved the writing style and hilarious quips. It’s also one of those books I will think about for a long time. What would you do if you knew the gist of your future for the next 13 years?

Woke Up Like This by Amy Lea
⭐️⭐️⭐️
When I had seen Amy Lea posting about her new book and described it to being similar to 13 Going on 30, I knew I had to read it. Woke Up Like This is a very PG rated enemies to lovers and slow burn. This book definitely read more YA to me even though it’s listed as adult fiction. I do think if I read this as a teenager, I would have rated this much higher. While this was cute and sweet and I did enjoy the storyline, I did feel the enemies aspect just felt a bit to immature to me (since they are high schoolers). Overall, this was a quick and easy read but I wish I had read it as a high schooler. I feel the lessons emphasized through the character development would have resonated with me more.
Charlotte is the perfectionist who has to remain responsible and get the good grades. After getting stood up by J.T. Renner, she’s never enjoyed being in the same room as him. While decorating for homecoming with Renner, Charlotte falls off a ladder. Charlotte then wakes up as a 30 year old and engaged to Renner.
If you’re interested in hearing more about how they figure out how they ended up 13 years in the future, this book is available now to read!

I had high hopes for this because I love 13 Going on 30 and movies like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! I think the concept with two instead of one was interesting. I had mixed feelings about the book. But I did enjoy reading it. I’d put it somewhere between 3 and 4 stars for a rating. There were parts that I really liked (for example- Renner and his growth as a character, Char and JT when they were in love) and then there were parts that I didn’t like so much (teenage immature Charlotte her grudges like at least 50% of the time, Kassie). I would be interested in reading about the 13 missing years that they went on to live. It was an easy quick read and a good palette cleanser. Thanks for sharing!

I loved this books so much. It was definitely like 13 going on 30 but with the vibes of Lara jean and Peter. I loved the bantering and bickering between the main characters, it was so entertaining. What really hooked me as well is how the writer wrote about high school friendships and how it’s ok if it doesn’t work out of go as planned. Overal this was such a cute romantic read that melted my heart.

I was hooked on this from page 1.
It was hilarious.
It was sweet.
It was adorable.
It was heart-warming.
It was relatable.
It was emotional.
It was inspiring.
The characters were flawed yet wonderfully crafted and likeable.
The writing was excellent and flowed smoothly.
The whole premise was adorable and unique to me.
It made me swoon and I just wanna scream how much this was cute cute cute and I don’t have much more to say.
This is the 2nd Amy Lea book I’ve ever read. It also the 2nd book of hers I’ve rated 5 stars. RESULT!

This book was so cute! To be honest, I wasn't sure it was YA or adult when I was reading it. Now that I've looked it up, I realize that it's an adult book, but I think it would also be good for teens. The characters were funny and dynamic, and their relationships were interesting. I am obsessed with Renner and Char. I loved their conversations and all of their interactions. I think it's hilarious that 13 Going on 30 is considered a classic film now. I definitely recommend this book for people who are looking with something light and entertaining. I think while it is a romance it would be a good even for people who don't necessarily read romance. Thank you to NetGalley and Mindy’s Book Studio for this ARC.

This was such a fun read; it gave a relationship twist to the 13 going on 30 plot. It was mostly lighthearted and brought you back to the perils of high school, finding your place, navigating senior year and all the relationships you have. I loved Charlotte and J.T. individually and how they navigate waking up 13 years later. This is mostly lighthearted, but there are some difficult emotions and events, and it reminded me that sometimes even adults don't have all the answers and are winging it like a 17 year old who wakes up at 30! This was my first Amy Lea book, but it won't be my last. Fans of Lea and/or 13 going on 30 storyline should add Woke Up Like This to their TBR.

This was a delightful and unique take on the classic time-travel trope. The story revolves around Charlotte Wu and her arch-nemesis, JT Renner, who wake up in 30-year old bodies, ages away from their high school days. The author's writing is engaging and filled with witty humor, making it an enjoyable read from start to finish. The character development is beautifully portrayed as Charlotte and Renner discover each other's hidden facets and growing beyond their teenage stereotypes. The exploration of the idea that life is more than just about reaching milestones, but also more importantly about cherishing the moments in between. The adventures that the characters embark on are entertaining as well as thought-provoking. This was a fresh and entertaining perspective on time travel and personal growth. The narrative was engaging and the characters were charming; the story was lighthearted and meaningful.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of this novel. I absolutely loved it! It was cute, though sort of predictable. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and highly recommend for anyone looking for a light romantic read.
