If you're a fan of books by Rebecca Serle or Sophie Cousens, you'll love this book by Amy Lea. Ultra organized teen, Charlotte Wu has a fall and she finds herself a thirty year old engaged to her archnemesis J T Renner. They learn all about what they've missed and also get to know each other a lot better. They will do whatever they can to find a way back to their seventeen year old selves. Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it.

This was a fun read! The time travel parts were a bit… shocking. 😏 I definitely empathized with Char, and loved how the story progressed.
Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for early access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

✨Book Review✨
Woke Up Like This
Amy Lea
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Two high school seniors are decorating for prom in the gym and all of a sudden wake up 13 years later. They have to figure out how to find their way back to the past. Did I mention they never seemed to get along?
This book was so cute. Once I saw the synopsis I knew I had to read it. If you like 13 going on 30 you will probably enjoy this book as well! It had similar vibes but was unique in its storyline.
My favorite part of the book was when Renner and Char were piecing together the memories over the 13 years they skipped. Their love story was adorable and I love how important they became to each other. The other thing that touched me was Chars relationship with her dad. 😭 (You’ll just have to read it to find out)
While I loved that this story takes place in high school and I enjoyed the love and importance she puts on prom. I cannot relate as I didn’t go to prom and wasn’t particularly sad that high school ended. I did however relate to the ending when she mentioned about not dwelling on the things she cannot change and just living and enjoying the moment.
“While I can’t control what will happen or who I’ll lose in my life, I know I can make the most of right now.”
I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I don't read much YA anymore as they tend to disappoint, but this book proved to be the exception! I have a bit of a soft spot for time travel and Woke Up Like This was a a fun addition to the category. When frenemies Charlotte and J.T. are setting up for Prom, a fall from a ladder results in them waking up as their 30 year old selves, only now they are engaged. Other reviews have described this book as part Never Have I Ever, part 13 Going on 30, and I have to agree. Full of heart and learning to grow into yourself this was an enjoyable younger romp where I could just turn my brain off for a little while.

I really enjoyed this book. What a sweet twist on 13 going on 30 and a great book for the hopeless romantic. The only thing that I did not enjoy was that the beginning was a little drawn out. There was a lot of character and story development, which I enjoyed, but it could have been a little shorter to keep up the pacing.

I adored every single thing about this book. Its 13 Going on 30 with more banter. This book had to be binged because it was too good to be put down. I was absolutely in love with Char and J.T. and rooting for them to finally convince their feelings to each other. This book will bring out all the feels.

From the synopsis I had high expectations for this one, unfortunately it was a lot like the movie 13 going on 30 and quite superficial.
I think that readers wanting a quick light one might enjoy this, especially younger readers. However I just don’t think there is enough originality or depth to engage anyone older than 14.
I think that Amy Lea is a good writer, but this book just missed the mark for me.
Thank you to Mindy’s book studio and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book to read and review.

Another outstanding read from Amy Lea. I loved every second I spent with this book.
Super fun and entertaining, I honestly felt like I was watching a movie the whole time. Absolutely perfect. I will be purchasing a copy purely so I can annotate and love it all over again.
Thank you for the ARC :)

I have adored all of Amy’s books so far and this one absolutely did not disappoint. In fact, I need more of it! It’s the perfect little dose of what the world needed in terms of a literary version of 13 Going on 30. It was cute and the perfect palate cleansing romance and I can’t recommend it enough!

3.5 stars. I think I prefer Amy Lea’s adult books but this was very sweet. It was a perfect quick escapist read.

Woke Up Like This follows Charlotte through her last weeks of senior year, her relationships with her friends (and rival Renner) and family, and her intense focus on worrying about the future. Everything isn't going exactly to plan when Char and Renner bump heads and they find themselves 13 years in the future, engaged at 30 and weeks away from their wedding. Yup - that's right, they BOTH time traveled!
It's a good story and I love that the focus wasn't just on romance. While trying to figure out how to get back to being 17, Char and Renner both deal with family issues and friendship troubles while relying on each other to get through them.
I did have to remind myself that they were 17 and some of the bickering/immaturity made sense while some of it felt a bit overboard. (ie Thank goodness I'm not in high school anymore...)
Considering I binged this YA book in about a day, it's safe to say I'd recommend it if YA romance is your vibe! I also can't wait to give Amy Lea's adult fiction books a read!
Thank you, NetGalley and Mindy's Book Studio for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Such a heart warming book.
Woke Up Like This made me remember my high school days and my prom experience. It was cool to look back and compare it to Charlotte’s experience. This book made me laugh and smile and tear up. I was feeling all the feels. If you need a fun light read this book would be a great choice. It also has some important themes sprinkled in. I really enjoyed this book.
Thank you to Mindy’s Book Studio for access to this title in exchange for my honest review.

Maybe I’m up in my feels, but this book really resonated with me.
Time travel usually is a “must avoid” theme, but I enjoyed Lea’s previous books and gave this a try. While a reader could just enjoy this on the surface and get a kick out of the love story, there can be much more to it. This story makes you think about your choices in life, not being afraid to take that uncomfortable risk, and embracing what’s important to you.

Charlotte “Char” Wu is a planner, and she has big expectations for her remaining days as a high school senior. However, Char feels there’s always a dark cloud over here her head - JT Renner - a boy who stood her up for at a dance and has been toilet paper on her shoe ever since. The two are working together (begrudgingly on Char’s side) when she falls and wakes up years later — in bed with Renner and learns they’re engaged. Her life doesn’t seem real and she can’t grasp some of the changes. In an effort to get back to being a teenager, Char and Renner try everything until they realize they might actually like each other and if they can go back to their younger selves what does that mean for these new feelings?
I love me a good YA every now and then. I also love Amy Lea. Oh, and I love 13 going on 30. So what’s not to love about this book? I felt like I was smack dab in my senior year again, remembering so many feelings Char was experiencing throughout the book. Renner also has some misplaced golden retriever energy and always wants to do right by Char, even if she’s too blind to realize it. Plus it’s a short easy read.
Rating: 4/5
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Woke Up Like This by Amy Lea was seriously one amazing YA romance!
I loved this book. I loved the characters, the writing, and the way the story unfolded.
It was just a fun and delightful story.
Lea’s writing is on a level that is just freaking incredible! She has a way that just captivates and makes me want to read, read and read some more! Like I can’t stop once start.
It truly sucked me in from the beginning and I finished it in one day.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Mindy’s Book Studio for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.

This was exactly the light hearted book I needed to read today. Being in my 30s now it gave me flashbacks to high school wanting to grow up so fast. I thought I had everything figured out lol.
Such a great rom com YA book for a quick fun read.

It was aa good coming of age book, with unexpected twists. It made it more appealing to me that young lit normally does that half of the book was in their thirties. Even thought the ugly duckling hating the popular hot gut even though he's in love with her is a bit tired, I enjoyed the book. One of the very few young adult lit current reads that doesn't incorporate cringey dialog to make it relatable to young people.

I need a few hours, no, I need a few days to metabolize the beauty of this book. It took a couple of pages for me to fall in love with this story. In a short time it went from 'book discovered by chance on goodreads' to 'book in my top three of 2023'.
Char and Renner are two seventeen-year-olds like many others, their relationship is hate-hate (at least that's what they want us to believe). Char considers Renner her archenemy, the one who ruins her plans and "every high school experience." So when they find themselves having to decorate the gym for the prom, neither of them is thrilled about it. But an accident with the ladder, and a time jump will change everything. It's as if '13 going on 30' and 'the duff' did a crossover.
The story is fun, flowing, romantic. I cursed my job, because it didn't allow me to read, I couldn't wait to go back home and continue reading this story. But like all good books, I almost didn't want to finish it so I wouldn't have to say goodbye to Char and Renner. It's the effect that only an enchanting book like this can have on you.
Read it. Love him. Laugh with him. Devour it!!!
5 stars are too few for this book!
And please, make a movie of it!!!!
Thanks to Netgalley and to Mindy's book studio for this copy.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I ate this up! The only time I put it down was when I had to go to work! Finished the whole thing in a matter of hours. It was easy to read in terms of grammar, terminology, and pacing.
Char would have been my favorite character cause, totally relatable with her lists and plans. I just couldn’t stand that she kept on blaming Renner for basically everything bad that happened to her at school. And she never bothered to learn his side of the story. Another thing about her that bothered me is how easily she kept taking Kassie back even though she was a bad friend. And she knew that.
Renner was fun to read! He’s the popular guy in school, gets things handed to him, has no troubles at all. Or so it seems. The time jump showed Char the side of him that she never saw cause she was too busy hating him. And finally that made her see that she had feelings for him.
Misunderstandings, they’re everywhere lately! Char had them with Kassie, her dad, and Renner. I’m glad that in the end, we had all the answers.

This is definitely a YA novel, which I'm usually not interested in. However, they did such a good job marketing this that I was anxious to read it anyways. This book plays homage to 13 going on 30 however both people move forward in time. They don't go back to 17 until Char takes a step back from herself and realizes that not everything doesn't revolve around her. Not in a selfish way but in the sense that all these insecurities she had, didn't have anything to do with her to begin with. It's an awesome lesson to learn and something we should all take into consideration.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review, as always, all words are my own.
