Austyn and Lowell are college sweethearts. She knows he comes from money, but really doesn't know the extent.

When his parents suddenly both pass away in an 'accident', Austyn accompanies Lowell to the Bass family home, The Pond (called The Pond because "it's full of bass"). The house and grounds are huge, but not really her thing. It comes out that Lowell is to take over the family business and home. Then Austyn's old college friend, Emily, calls asking for help, and Lowell offers for her to come stay with them at the Pond.

Soon Austyn is suspecting Lowell and Emily of having an affair, and she starts discovery secrets of the Bass family. The more she finds, the more confusing things become. The last third of this book is a whirlwind and you'll be holding on for dear life.

Just when you think you know what's up, there's another twist! As always, Kiersten Modglin didn't disappoint.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved listening to this in one sitting. How far will the Bass family go to protect the family name and keep all their secrets hidden? Money can make families do crazy things and can pit one member against another in this case. Lowell's parents were killed and now he brings his fiance home to meet the family. Austyn had no idea how rich Lowell was and it takes her awhile to get use to all the staff and being waited on.

She discovers a journal and realizes she may have made a mistake coming here and getting engaged to Lowell. Will she be able to get out alive?

I just loved the narrator and although it starts off slow hang in there as there are twists coming along quickly to throw you for a loop. Kiersten Modglin does not dissapoint. Now the hardest part is waiting for next book to come out.

Only one can be head of the family so who will it be?

Thank you DreamscapeMedia and Net Galley for this audiobook and this is my honest review.

Thank you, Net Galley, for an audio ARC of The Family Secret by Kirsten Modglin. I love reading family drama. The storyline and plot were really in this book. I listened on one sitting.

If you are a faithful reader of books, you start to have expectations from particular authors. If I read a Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child book I expect well researched plots which involve mystery and travel. Ann Rule books will draw me into murders and make me question humanity. Kiersten Modglin books will be short trips into domestic situations I hope never to experience in real life. Modglin has mastered the domestic thriller genre and produced a shocking 37 books in about 7 years. That is astounding.

The Family Secret was pure Modglin. At slightly over 6 hours, this audio was an easy one day trip and kept me listening (and doing chores) in a single afternoon. As an audio, I must warn you, by about hour 5 you will need to stop whatever you are doing in the background and begin to pay attention, because that's when all the crazy started happening, and the plot was laid out for us. As an older woman, my one request to Modglin is please stop using similar names for characters. Seriously, I was struggling with the S sounding names - Sophia, Simon, Selene. But, maybe that's just my brain.

Overall a fun ride and now we wait for the next Modglin.

Austin’s fiancé Lowell brings her home to his wealthy family’s mansion after being informed his parents were killed in an accident. Or was it an accident?

This was a fun one to listen to. My first book by this author and the narrator did a great job voicing the characters. Lots of twists and turns, and even though it’s very far fetched, it certainly was entertaining.

Thank you to NeGalley for an early audio copy.
