There are a lot of mysteries happening in this book, and I had NO clue how they would all work out and tie together, but WOW. What an ending! I cannot wait for the rest of this series! I loved Guy and Barry and I hope they feature in the rest of the series as well!

Phenomenal! This page-turner hooked me from the beginning. I loved the sense of humor and the variety of characters that make up this small town. The suspense and pace were great as was excellent narrator. I highly recommend it and can't wait for book 2!!

The One Who Fell (A Whitecliff Bay Mystery Book 1)
By Kerry Wilkinson, Narrated by Helen Keeley

The first in a series of 4 books, The One Who Fell, follows Millie Westlake, a volunteer at a local nursing home. While spending time with one of the residents, Ingrid, she is told about a woman being pushed from a rooftop that can be viewed from the nursing home. Curiosity puts Millie on a path to find out whether Ingrid saw what she thinks she did. Did this woman that Ingrid saw exist? Was she a figment of her imagination? Millie's personal story includes being a divorced mother who has experienced her own scandal on top of losing her parents the year prior. Residents of Whitecliff, a small, quiet town, have questioned Millie's involvement with her parents’ death. Needless to say, she's a woman with a lot on her plate.
The beginning was a little slow for me, and one tangent, in particular, confused me a bit about why it was included. However, I'm glad I stuck with it because I did like Millie and the cast of characters. Plot-wise, there were just a whole lot of storylines happening. Helen Keeley did a wonderful job narrating. I look forward to Book 2 and seeing how the author continues Millie’s story.

The narrator is perfect for this book! There is not often humor in mystery books, but this one got me chuckling many times through the book! The characters are well developed, from best friends, to who do you trust cops. I want to move here and be her friend, as I am sure there will be more mysteries in her future! Well Done Kerry Wilkinson!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the free audiobook in exchange for an honest review. This was narrated by Helen Keeley, who did a great job with the multiple characters!!

I think that this book is more of a "cozy" mystery which unfortunately just was not for me, I got through about a third and just could not continue. I felt the dialogue was repetitive and the story was going nowhere. I understood that there was a loose tile on a building, a woman fell and there was a panther roaming around the complex. Outside of those facts, I found myself not getting into the story and quickly losing interest. I am certain that there are readers out there that will really enjoy this but not for me.

I really enjoyed this audiobook! Millie is an interesting and complicated main character. She is a single mother dealing with the fallout after the death of her parents and an affair that was unfortunately made public. She is pulled into the mystery of a missing girl by one of the residents of the nursing home she volunteers at.

One thing I am always a sucker for is an unconventional friendship. Her at times tense relationship with local newspaper man Guy really propelled the story forward.

I look forward to reading the next installment of this series!

I enjoyed this audiobook! At first I felt it was a little slower paced than I normally like but I found as I went on that the slow pace works for this book. Its a good suspense build and although the scenes aren't as dramatic as some crime novels/audiobooks, it still left a chill down my spine in it's own way. I liked the humanizing element that MIllie's struggle with her own past gives her. The narrator is also pleasant to listen to. Overall a solid mystery with a good conclusion!

The One Who Fell (A Whitecliff Bay Mystery Book 1)
By Kerry Wilkinson, Narrated by Helen Keeley

Running at 7 hours and 50 minutes, this audiobook is not on the long side but I like that I started it knowing that there would be more to come since I see that there are three more books in the series. Not only do I like the main character but I also like many of the side characters that surround Millie Westlake. She needs friends and may have more than she thought she had.

We meet Millie as she is volunteering at a local nursing home. She's living in what used to be her parent's home but which Millie now owns. The reason the home is hers because Millie's parents died and many of the people of Whitecliff think she killed her parents. Millie had already come crawling home after a huge scandal that led to her losing her marriage and custody of her young son. Then her parents died and Millie's already trashed reputation took even more hits. Now Millie lives in her parents old home and grooms dogs as a "career".

One of the nursing home residents, Ingrid, mentions that she saw a girl fall off the roof of tall house she can see from her window. When Millie investigates the house she sees things that make her wonder if there could be some truth to what Ingrid saw. The more Millie pokes around the more she thinks something is afoot and she can't let this mystery go. Soon she is teaming up with the man who caused her first downfall, 68 year old Guy, a journalist turned blogger. Guy is one of the interesting side characters and another interesting side character is Jack, Millie's best friend. And then there is Guy's very cute labradoodle which just proves that Guy can't be as bad as all that! Millie's exasperation with everything going on in her life is portrayed very well by Helen Keeley's narration.

There is a Gothic feel to the story with old creepy houses, a small town where so many people know each other, and rumors brewing everywhere, even in the nursing home. Guy's house is filled with paper in every room, he saves all his old articles and it seems every article that was written by anyone. And Millie is feeling like she is being watched and what is worse, she knows that she is being followed by the guy who lives in the house where Ingrid thinks she saw a girl fall off the roof. It is hard for Millie to do much investigation though since almost everyone in town knows what she did wrong, the thing that happened before her parents died.

This is a nice little mystery that has an ending but the town, the townspeople and story also have a sense of continuation. There is more to learn, more that we don't know about Millie and her parents. I'm looking forward to the next books and it looks like two of them will come out at the same time this book publishes.

This was such a good, strong start to a mystery thriller series and I will definitely be checking out the rest. I really liked the pacing of this a good mix of fast and slow burn to keep you interested and on the edge of your seat and I also really loved how this was multi-layered with the main mystery and also the history and secrets surrounding Millie and her parents death - which will engage you in later books also. The narrator was really good and I just overall was super hooked into this story and mystery and I want to know more about Millie so I will definitely continue to follow along with her stories.

This story is centered around Millie Westlake, a woman who has a notorious past for an affair with a prominent politician and when she was a suspect in her parents, deaths. She lives in a town where everyone knows everyone and everything.

Due to the affair, Millie has been out of work and now grooms pets and volunteers at a nursing home. One day, a resident, Ingrid, tells Millie she saw a girl fall from the roof of a nearby home. She goes to investigate and uncovers more than she anticipated.

I listened to the audiobook and it wasn’t as fast paced as I was used to, so it didn’t hold my attention and I had to listen in shorter increments. The story came together in the end and is setup to continue in a series.

This book genre was not for me but from on outside pov it was a good book. I have to say that i definitely did not see the ending coming to an emd like it did. I was very confused on the two side plots of the panther and Millies ex-husband secret; but the overall plot kept me on my toes. I listened to the audiobook version of this book, and I think it helped me like the book a whole lot more. I definitely enjoyed the writers writing style. It made me feel very comfortable with the character, but I also wanted more from the characters. The small town feeling was definitely there, and I loved that. Millie dealing with those small town issues were on par for what a small town is. Definitely keep reading the series as a pallet cleanser. I can't wait to find out what happens next in this small town. I 100% recommend this book to people who like small-town mysteries series that are quick reads.

Thank you so much to netgalley and Kerry Wilkinson for letting me read this arc.

I always look forward to a new series of books, but this one doesn't make me want to rush and read another, I feel there is a lot more to Millie than we have been shown so far and maybe Kerry Wilkinson has deliberately
held back but because this was such a slow burn it hasn't left me wanting to read the others in the series. Set in a quiet place called Whitecliff everyone knows Millie and her notoriety (she had an affair with a politician and was thought to of killed her parents) so she is alone after her divorce and is volunteering at a local old peoples home and when one of the residents says she saw a girl fall off a roof Millie finds her self investigating. The only saving grace of the audiobook book was the narration by Helen Keeley who did an excellant job.

This audiobook is the first in a new series. The series takes place in the fictional English seaside town of Whitecliff. Millie Westlake is the main character. Millie volunteers at the local nursing home. During one of Millie's visits, She is talking to Ingrid. Ingrid says she saw a girl fall off the roof of the house across the way. Ingrid was looking out her window at the time. Millie should probably ignore this. But she can’t seem to get it out of her head. So Millie starts to look into it. This book is narrated by Helen Keeley and she does a beautiful job. She is the reason I was able to finish this book. I will be honest this book was very slow and I really struggled to get through to the end.

I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook of The One Who Fell by Kerry Wilkinson. The narrator did a great job at bringing Millie and her story to life. I really like the author's writing style and was easily drawn into this book. The characters were unique and interesting. The pot twists were well executed and the ending left me wanting to continue this series to see what happens next.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Millie lives in a very small town where everyone knows everyone. Her parents have just passed and rumors are going around that Millie is responsible for their death. Millie works at a care facility and was talking with an elderly woman staying there whom claimed she saw a woman pushed off a roof across the street.
Millie starts investigating this with obstacles thrown in her

I found this book to be a slow burn.
The narrator was good and pleasant to listen to.

this mystery was a fun read but just a bit too much of a slow burn for my taste. i am looking forward to seeing how the series will develop.

The atmosphere and scenery set up by the author created a wonderful ambiance and the characters are wonderfully conveyed. The plot is well executed and the twist is not expected.

I greatly enjoyed the twist and turn of this novel and the OMGs moments. I received the audiobook version and the narrator's voice pulled me in. I was able to picture everything. Millie was someone who you wanted to friend and hug. With her past and still able to embrace those around her was breathtaking. I appreciated the way she listened to her elders and didn't brush what they said to the back of the mind. I look forward to reading further into this series.
The one thing I could have done without was the thing regarding cheese(didn't quite understand the purpose of that). I would have given this a 5 stars if they leave that out.

Millie is living under a dark cloud since her affair was broadcasted and her parents died and the gossips pointed fingers at her for having some handling in their deaths. Millie volunteers in a care home and one resident tells her she saw a woman on a neighbouring rooftop and was pushed off. No one has reported an accident. Millie, with the help of Guy start investigating the sighting, but there is someone trying to put a stop to their questions.
An intriguing plot that leads you to want to know the truth behind the sighting.
Like any other book by Kerry Wilkinson, you will not be let down by this one.

A new series by Kerry Wilkinson!
This one features Millie is a newly divorced single mum with very limited access to her son, in her 40s, living in the small seaside town where she grew up. This is the kind of place where everyone knows each other and stick their noses into each other's business.
Many of the town's inhabitants are sure that Millie killed her parents.
Whilst volunteering at a local care home, one of the residents assures Millie that she saw someone being pushed off the roof of one of the houses one night. Millie wants to find out what happened but that's not easy at all and above all she starts being targeted!!

However with the help of a journalist she tries to solve the mystery. And these two do have some past!! Just see for yourself!

Thanks #NetGalley #Bookouture Audio for this AAB
