This book was hard for me to follow. I had a hard time understanding the narrator. I tried it a few times; even skipped ahead and couldn't get into it .Too bad because I read the second book in the series and really enjoyed it.

📚Synopsis:
✨Millie has had an emotionally challenging year and is doing her best to move forward. After word of her affair with a MP, her husband filed for divorce and was able to secure custody of their son. On top of that, Millie’s parents OD’d in an apparent suicide. Millie’s father was a beloved TV anchor so his death was very public, as was her affair with the MP. In her small community, many stares and whispers follow Millie whenever she goes.
✨Having lost her rewarding and successful job when her affair came to light, Millie now spends her time grooming dogs behind her home while offering obedience training as well. She enjoys volunteering at the local nursing home too where her best friend Jack works. One afternoon, while volunteering, a female resident in her 80’s tells Millie about a young woman she saw out her window the night before. Isabel, the resident, said she saw a young woman wearing a white nightgown fall off the roof of one of the houses near the nursing home. Millie is aware that Isabel sometimes mixes up dates and timelines in her mind but decides to believe her especially after a male resident reports something similar to Jack. Millie, with the held of Guy - a man who was friends with her deceased father - begins to investigate Isabel’s claim and danger ensues.

📚Thoughts/Recommendations:
✨This is a new author for me and I can’t wait to read other books by Kerry Wilkinson. I will definitely request to listen to the next two books in this series before their April release date! It was easy for me to become absorbed in story, able to picture the area and quickly connect with the characters. I’m excited to learn more about Millie and to see if she continues to forge a relationship with Guy, the friend of her father’s. If you’re looking for a quick, absorbing, fast paced mystery and thriller, I would highly recommend this book!

📚I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture Audio, and the author for allowing me the opportunity to listen to The One Who Fell ahead of its release date in exchange for an honest review. It was truly a pleasure!

An exciting start to a new series. The book grabs the reader from the beginning and keeps the mystery going all the way to the end. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author.

The story basically centers around a volunteer at a nursing home being told by one of the residents that she saw a woman falling from the roof of a nearby home. The volunteer isn’t sure if she should believe the story or not. She goes to visit house where the woman fell and is told that nothing happened. However, following her instinct she finds strange things that leads to investigation on her part. The investigation puts her in jeopardy but she wants to find out the truth.

The only issue I had with the book is it started off mentioning that the volunteer was suspected in the involvement of her parents death. So I really thought we were going to go down that path but didn’t. However this is the first book in the series maybe more will come to light later.

The One Who Fell is the first book in the Whitecliff Bay Mystery series. This is an excellent way to start a series.

The book follows Millie. Millie volunteers at a nursing home and spends time talking with many different residents there. One woman, Ingrid, tells Millie she saw someone push a girl off of a roof that she can see from her window. No one believes Ingrid except for Millie. Millie sets out on a mission to find out what happened and as soon as she starts asking questions she feels like she is being followed.

I loved learning about Millie and seeing her character develop. She is an amazing lead that I can’t wait to see solve more mysteries.

I love small-town romance books, I never had a small-town mystery book. The small-town aesthetic lends itself well to the mystery genre perfectly.

If you love mysteries then this is a series worth checking out.

The One Who Fell was a mystery crime novel. I gave this a 4 ⭐️. Kerry Wilkinson is one of my favorite authors. This story was about relationships, secrets, second chances and mystery.
What happened to Millie? And what about her parents? I found the writing entertaining and enjoyable with great side characters.
I listened to the audiobook also and found the narrator perfect for this book.
Thanks Bookouture via NetGalley.

This is the first book in the Whitecliff Bay Mystery Series and it certainly offered me enough to want to read more.
Whilst the mystery itself was a little slow paced there are a number of likeable characters, in particular the main character Millie and I look forward to seeing how they evolve over time in future books.
An enjoyable easy read which did leave me wanting a bit more but perhaps this was purposeful from the author given it is the first book in the series.
The audiobook was very well narrated and added to the overall enjoyment.
I am grateful to NetGalley for an ARC of this book and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Aside from a scattering of absurd and unecessary hyperboles, I enjoyed Kerry Wilkinson's writing style. However, the plot was lackluster.

I would consider reading another novel by Wilkinson, but would not classify The One Who Fell as a "must-read". I wanted to love it, but I found the novel uninspired.

This book did not hold my interest. I listened to half of it before giving up. It was extremely slow moving.

I struggled to make it to 30% of this audiobook. I found the narration to be alright but the book itself seemed overly wordy.

Since I didn't finish the book I will not post it on any purchasing sites.

Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook

I enjoyed this so much. Brilliant characters, brilliant storyline and brilliant narration. Perfect! Best of all it’s the first in a series that I was completely unaware existed. I cannot wait to read the rest.

I was drawn in immediately to our protagonist Millie, separated from her husband and her child following a sordid highly publicised affair with a married politician. Volunteering at the local old people’s home, Millie is told the story of a girl in a white dress who fell from a roof opposite the home. On we proceed with a tantalising, twisty, turny dark tale.

Brilliant!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookature audio for the opportunity to listen to this audio book in return for an honest review.

This book was not for me. I like my mysteries to be faster paced and be more plot driven.

This book would be enjoyed by readers who love slow burn mysteries that are character driven. The writing is well-done and the narrator was great.

Millie continues to live in the same house, in the same village where her parents died. Her life is not an easy one, as locals believe Millie was involved in her parents’ deaths. She makes ends meet by doing a little dog grooming and volunteers at a local nursing home. One day, one of the resident’s tells Millie that she saw a woman pushed from the roof of a house. Most people dismiss the old woman’s claims, but not Millie, who begins to look for evidence of the crime no one else believes was committed. Not a cozy mystery per se, but one that relies more on plot and character development that action and thrills
