I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

Maxey Langley has been the governess for the Earl and Countess of Wentworth, when the earl is found dead in his bed. Only one person is suspected, his estranged younger brother Ignatius. Asked by the countess to search for the brother, whose innocence can be proven if he doesn't have the earl's ring in his hands, Maxey sets out on a journey across the country. Finding Nash, now a prominent opera singer, she expects he will return with her to the Wentworth home, but soon finds herself embroiled in danger, and she needs all her wits about her to survive.

I'm really conflicted on this book. On the one hand, it was an enjoyable book, which took me into another time and world, but on the other, it was too farcical for my liking. I don't really understand why the countess would send her trusted governess to seek out her brother-in-law, especially when she believed he might be the killer, when Maxey's charges had just lost their father. Really, wouldn't it have been better for her to stay with the children, and guide them through their grief? And then there were the journeys that Maxey and Nash went on. I can understand the villain being the person it was, but how come Nash is fluent in Spanish? The side story of Maxey and her mother was a bit out of the blue too, and I don't really think the villains had justice done properly. Nothing seemed to flow that well, and I feel like the book was left too open ended for my liking. Still, it was enjoyable, and I did somewhat believe in Nash and Maxey's love. I will read book 3, mainly just to clear it from my NG shelf, but I'm hoping for much better things than this book!

This is Book 2 of the Love's Addiction series and is an entertaining addition to the series. Maxey is a governess to two young children
When her employer is murdered, his widow tasks her with finding the person suspected of being responsible for his death. Nash is the younger brother of the deceased earl and has been estranged from his family. Maxey was supposed to unmask Nash as the murderer, but when they meet, the quest to find the real murderer begins. When danger happens upon them, Nash finds himself desperate to protect Maxey.
I was a little unclear as to why Maxey was sent to find Nash, but it made for an interesting and intriguing tale. The two were a very good pair and their chemistry was simply undeniable. The storyline is a bit unbelievable, but still made for an enjoyable read. Will definitely be continuing the series!

A very sweet story with just the right amount of mystery and thriller. Great twists, it did not end how I expected, but I enjoyed every minute of this read.

Regency Romance which has mystery and romance. Maxey Littleton is a governess who employer get murdered. Her employer's wife Lady Wentworth asks her to find her husband's brother Ignatius 'Nash' Burke. So she is on an adventure with a fellow servant to check into if Nash did it. Nash is an opera singer who was disowned by his family years ago. They meet and it starts an adventure to prove Nash is innocent. However, conflict and misleading cause Maxey to believe he did it yet someone is chasing them. This book was fast paced. I did enjoy it but felt it was too quick of a start and ending did not really tie up nicely. It felt like here is 2 weeks time and what happens in it. I was too rushed. I did like the characters and POV's of the Nate and Maxey. But too many questions from the start and finish. I would however recommend it as a quick regency adventure love story. I am would be interested to see what other books this author has written.

Regency Romance with Mystery and Suspense

Why would a lady send her governess to investigate a murder, and why would that governess go on such a dangerous quest?? That was puzzling, indeed. However, it would provide us with an entertaining romantic adventure. Maxey was determined to find Nash guilty; he was determined to prove his innocence. In the meantime, the two would find themselves in deadly danger. They would also fall in love, reluctant though they might have been. Who was chasing them? Would they survive the hunt? I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like Regency romantic adventures with mystery and suspense.

Maxey is a governess to two small children. Why her employer decided to send her on this mission is baffling, but the story is still fun.
Nash is an opera singer who left his family years ago. Suddenly he needs to protect a very suspicious woman and himself from grave danger.
This historical romance is good fun . The storyline is a bit farfetched but the adventure they have is very amusing.

This book confused me, i loved some parts, others i could've missed it.

She is entertaining, she is an adorable mess, she is fun but sometimes the story doesn't do it.

I would recommend you to read this book if you have nothing to do.

Maxey Littleton, the governess, is given the task as a "detective" by her employer, Lady Wentworth, to find her dead husband's brother, Ignatius Burke. Why Maxey? She hasn't a clue what she's doing.
(Note: I would have at least established she had a fascination in solving mysteries and was successful in solving a few).
A continual frustration reading Maxey's incompetence and mistrust, I considered not finishing the book.
The most interesting character in the book is Nash (Ignatius Burke) a successful opera singer and a scoundrel, but very charming and seductive. It would have been nice for Maxey to be a stronger woman from the beginning of the book. I saw a few loopholes in the story that were never answered. So much potential.

Her mission was to unmask him as the murderer. When they met, the adventure to uncover the real murderer begins. She is feisty, courageous and independent while he is brave and fiercely protective of his family. Excellent romantic adventure with a satisfying end to the dastardly villain.

Loved the idea of this book and was looking forward to reading it as I have read other books by this author and liked them. This however was not the case. The plot was just non sensical it felt rushed and patchy and the character's didn't seem that nice so I struggle to care about them or to finish this book it was a real struggle. Disappointing. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When her employer, the Earl of Wentorth is murdered governess Maxey Langley is tasked by his widow Carolyn with finding the man who is responsible. Against her will, she and Sarah another servant search for Lord Wentworth’s younger brother Ignatius Burke who has been estranged from the family.
Nash Burke has lived as an opera singer for the past several years, keeping as far away from his family as possible. But when a beautiful governess comes looking for him and intends to inform the magistrate, charming the governess into thinking he is someone else is the only way to make her leave.
This book had me perplexed, why ask a governess to find a murderer, why would Nash drug Sarah, how did Nora just happen to turn up? I had lots of questions whilst reading & was left with quite a few at the end. Did Nash reunite with his family, was the ring a treasure map & if so was the treasure found. I just felt the story was incomplete. I liked Nash & Maxey but didn’t love them, yes there was chemistry between them. However Maxey went way down in my estimation for the way she was so judgemental about the women Nora employed & I nearly stopped reading at that point but I hoped things would be resolved but sadly they weren’t
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Although a sweet romance developed between the main characters in this novel, I was ultimately left with more questions than answers. I felt that the plot was patched together, and there was little cohesiveness. Nevertheless, there is intrigue, a mystery to be solved and the attraction between the main characters is undeniable. The novel also ended rather abruptly and I would have liked to see know whether Nash was reunited with his family. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Felt like a first draft rather than an edited book.

I enjoyed this book right up to the end. However, The was the climax and a VERY few paragraphs later the end. No explanations no expanding up on what happened after. Just the end. I didnt quite spoil the story but almost. Good action and some good scenes. I would have enjoyed an epilogue of how they lived. Did he continue to sing? Did they inspect the rings? Did he go back and talk to the housekeeper? Did he finally get to be a part of the family?
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book.

What a waste of my time. I hate to say that because I do not have the guts to write a book, but I could write better than this.
This review definitely contains spoilers.
The story opens with the death of a Lord. His widow is being interviewed and the governess is in the room holding the children as the senior investigator questions the widow. I have been reading romance novels for over 40 years and the governess always is asked to remove this children since the Inspector was questioning their mother about their father's death, just hours ago. The children are not subjected to that, they are taken to the nursery. After the Inspector leaves, the widow accuses her brother-in-law of killing her husband because the brother-in-law was disinherited about ten years prior.
On what green earth would make the governess qualified to hunt down and investigate the subject? And the widow sent a maid with her. Not a footman, a maid. When they caught this murderer, were they going to educate and clean him into subjugation before returning him to the widow? This story makes absolutely no sense and then just continues from there. So, I suffered and read this book until the end, where the governess shoots the villain in the head. A governess who was brought up by her father and nursed him during his dying days and then was hired as a governess. Killing that man would have ruined and wounded her psyche to the point she would be mentally unstable the rest of her life. She was a protected, sheltered woman. She was not a tough, stand-on-her-own-against-adversity person. And the way the character is written, she is a innocent, naive virgin who has no worldly knowledge. And then instead of returning to the widow and explaining what happened and having a wonderful closing ending, it stops. They are hugging each other after shooting his uncle in the head, blowing up the boat and killing the majority of the people on board and seeing the brother-in-law's best friend, blown-up, on fire and dying tell him, "I had to betray you. My family was threatened." And that is the end. They are hugging over the man's corpse. Which is a fitting way to bury this poor book. Please do not waste your time. The author is an award winning author, and I have some awards for them. Starting with unbelievable, 2 dimensional characters that make no logical sense or smart decisions. And the drama, please. I give this book 1 star for being published. But this author should be so mad at her editor, alpha/beta readers and whoever told her this book made sense. I do not recommend reading.

Fantastic story impossible to put down, interesting characters, suspense, mystery, romance, passion, betrayal and a wonderful ending.

The premise of this romance sounded interesting and I was looking forward to reading how Ms. Higgins would develop this into an HEA. From the prologue, I wondered why Carolyn sent Maxey and Sally to 'trap' a murderer, just in case he is not actually the murderer? The rat on her dress - yuk! Nash invites two women whom he knows to be intruders into the house for drinks and drugs Sally. Then, he immediately wraps his arms around Maxey. Oh, and let's go into the garden for a make-out session. This is just the first 10% of the book per my kindle. Sorry, but you need to rethink this one. (I will not post, other than right here) a negative review. I truly loved the first book in this series, A Wallflower to Love.

I hate to write negative reviews of books, but I just couldn't do otherwise with this one. I thought this premise was promising, but the more I read the more convoluted the plot became. It makes zero sense why Carolyn would have sent Maxey on this mission. If she truly believed her brother-in-law played a part in her husband's murder why would she send a naive woman like Maxey to go find him? And we never learn what her motive was in doing so because she is never seen or heard from again. It was not easy to come to like Nash either because one of the first things he does when he meet him is drug the woman he thinks is Maxey's companion. So basically, this guy knocks out a woman's chaperone so he can seduce that woman? Not exactly the actions of a man you are supposed to root for as the "hero" of a story. I wasn't really sure when his interest in Maxey changed from getting her into bed to actually caring about her. And her "I don't want to go with you - wait you're leaving without me?" whining got old real fast. The uncle's motivations and actions also make little sense. For such a criminal genius why didn't he make his older nephew's death look like an accident? Especially if he was planning to kill the next two people in line for the title? Are we expected to believe that he was so powerful he could have taken up a title following the murder of 3 people and not have anyone be suspicious of how that all happened. Then the part about the rings having a treasure map, what was that all about? The part with Nash's best friend betraying him had no point other than to try to close up some loopholes in the story. If they were truly so close he could have told Nash about the threats to his family so they could work out a plan together. But probably the part I hated most was that involving Maxey's mother. Her being in the right place at the right time to get on the same ship her daughter was on was too much of a coincidence. And if she had her children being followed by a private detective why didn't she reach out to them after their father died? I digress a little, the part I really hated was how Maxey treated the prostitutes. They were trying to be kind to her and she basically told them they were not worthy of love from a good man and they were pretty much scum. In that moment I found her to be a horribly self-righteous and judgmental woman. She didn't know anything about these women but felt it was okay to be cruel to them. And let's not forget that her wonderful paragon of a man once sought out the services of such women. From that point on I really didn't care about what happened to any of these characters.
