I always love a good thriller from Lucy Clarke, and The Hike did not disappoint. From friendship drama, to the life of the rich & famous, to the beauty of Norway, this thriller keeps you engaged from page one to the very end.
I read this in nearly one sitting it was so good. As always, I cannot wait for the next Reed from Lucy Clarke.

Liz, Helena, Maggie and Joni are best friends that have stuck by eachother’s sides through all walks of life. Every year they look forward to vacationing and spending time together at a new location.

When Liz decides that their annual activity is camping and hiking a trail in Norway, they must prepare for a 4 day trip in the wilderness.

This was a very character driven book that focused heavily on female friendships. I loved that this was told in multiple POVS and I started to really feel connected to the characters.

I requested this because I had read One Of The Girls by the author and absolutely loved the author’s writing style. Once again, her writing kept me entertained and this book was very well written!

This is a hard one for me to review because I thought that the premise and story were both good, but the subject matter isn’t my favorite, which was my own issue as I had requested it blindly.

I think if you enjoy a survival book with a very descriptive setting and like a book that focuses more on the bonds between the characters versus action, this is for you!

While I enjoyed the story, there were times that the pace was a bit slow. This picked up towards the end and went in a different direction that I thought it would. Overall it was a good read, just not my favorite concept!

I loved this book from the first few pages. It is very well done and a joy to read. If you like a mystery with a well done story this one is for you.

This was an awesome psychological thriller about 4 best friends on an annual trip. Each friend of course has their own secrets. It was a bit of a slow burn but still a great read and great overall atmosphere.

I LOVE books like this one. It kept me interested the whole time, I couldn't put it down! Will definitely be reading more from this author!

The hook sounds interesting enough and the setting mysterious enough, but that was about it. The story dragged on, the characters were all annoying and the plot was pretty unbelievable. Because I greatly appreciate receiving Advanced copies, I persevered, but had this been a borrow,/purchase, I would not have finished it.

I wanted to love this but it fell flat for me. It reminded me too much of Breathless by Amy McCulloch. Much like this book, Lucy Clarke’s last book One of the Girls, that one also reminded me way too much of many other books.

I appreciate that Lucy Clarke has a way of writing atmospheric thrillers - she does a great job of being able to transfer you to her settings (whether you want to or not!). I though the plot of this one was fairly predictable and guessed most of the "twists" in advance. I also didn't particularly care about the fate of any of the characters, lol. With that said, still a solid thriller if you appreciate an atmospheric read!

The Hike is a edge of your seat thriller that involves four friends from high school taking their yearly trip to hike a mountain in Norway. None of the ladies are traditional hiking enthusiasts, but it sounds like a perfect opportunity to get out into nature and enjoy themselves. All four ladies have a lot going on in their personal lives, and the hike becomes suddenly more than just a trip up a mountain with each of the women facing fears they might not have realized they had. I found this story to be so fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat, truly! I felt like I was up on the mountain with out four main characters, and I really enjoyed the twists and the turns of this story. It certainly ended in a way that I didn't expect, which I obviously love in a thriller. This was my first Lucy Clarke book, but I will certainly be seeking out more of her novels, highly recommend!

Enjoyable read. Slow first 25% then gets into the action. I felt the ending was a bit clunky but I enjoyed the overall read.

I am the least outdoorsy person alive but recently I've been obsessed with these type of thrillers. Breathless by Amy McCulloch was another great read!

This novel is 3.5/rounded up to 4 stars, based on the unique setting. A good, engaging popcorn thriller.

Wow, I just thought I wanted to go hiking sometime. Going to Norway with friends would be ideal, or not. Definitely not this trip. This one kept me almost on the edge of my seat. Didn’t live the ending, but it did fit the story so it worked.

This book really just took me for a ride. I loved the build up, the character development, and the writing. I would definitely read more from this author!

The blurb was really interesting and hooked me. However, when I started reading the book, I just wasn't blown away. It was an ok read, just nothing new and amazing.

It had the plot of every book I ever read. I wanted something new something different but I didn’t get it.

This novel was excellent! I loved the chapters from the differing view points! I really enjoyed the description of the scenery as well. It was an excellent book that I’d read again and again!
