This book really caught me by surprise with how much I loved it. It was a relatively slow start getting to know all the characters, but the author has such a way of making you love the characters and care about what happens to them. In particular the main character Roisin is captivating with the way she sees herself as very ordinary and average but she is so loved by her friends. A big part of why I loved this book is the mystery element of Roisin trying to work out whether her exboyfriend Joe’s show is really based on their life experiences or not, and of course the ending is super satisfying.
The side characters are wonderful too, one of Roisin’s friends Meredith was a standout for me, and the new love interest Matt is swoon worthy. I ended up listening to this on audiobook and I really enjoyed that format and recommend it to others too. The narrator Mira Dovreni did a great job, as an Aussie I was quite obsessed with her accent. I’ve never read a book by this author before but I’ll absolutely check out her other titles too as I really enjoyed this book.

When Rosh discovers her long time boyfriend has been using tales of her life in a TV series he has made, she is devastated. Things worsen when she realises he has virtually been living a double life and he is not the person she thought he was. Seeking solace back at her childhood home, she also finds a comrade in Matt, another of their friendship group who has been going through his own issues. A great story of friendship, family and love.

A satisfying rom com that left my heart happy and smiling. The best written romance book. I laughed and felt so many good feelings while reading.

I love Mhairi McFarlane's books but this one is probably my least favourite by her. I really struggled to get into the story of this one. It could be more me and my mood rather than the book itself as I'm seeing a ton of glowing reviews for it so please don't go off my review if you plan to read it. I will still read anything she writes as all her previous books have been huge winners for me.

So sorry I couldn't read this one as it was in PDF format and as it was protected I couldn't have it converted from Amazon to Mobi so it wasn't possible to read it. I have now bought it as I've heard amazing things about this author and her books.

Thank you for the ARC and I'm so sorry I wasn't able to read on the PDF format.

I've added a 4 star rating as a rating is required and friends have loved this one.

I haven’t read any of Mhairi McFarlane’s books before Between Us, however this book hooked me from the start and had me turning the pages as quickly as I can. The characters are well developed and believable. I loved Roisin from the first while her boyfriend Joe just didn’t take my fancy. Bebbarrow Hall, the setting for the first part of the book, was easy to envisage and made a perfect backdrop for the growing tensions between Roisin and her friends. There’s plenty of depth to this story, which is what made it such a good read. I loved it!

Thanks to Harper Collins Australia, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book - I am leaving this unbiased review voluntary and have not received any compensation for it,

I have no idea how I have gone so long without reading one of this author's books - someone invent a time machine please, so I can discover her earlier!

This often humorous, sometimes heart-rending, lovely story about relationships and friendships was such an enjoyable read.

Roisin and Joe's relationship is a decade long and old habits die hard. But Roisin has had the feeling that Joe's rise to success is pushing them apart. Being the only couple in their OG friendship group makes breaking up a little more complicated - who gets who if they separate? Will their tight knit group fall apart? And what happens if one of you starts to have feelings for someone else in the group?

It's all so real and messy, but at the same time so entertaining to read. There are definitely a few unexpected moments that make this story so different from some of the other contemporary romances I have read this year,

I'll definitely be reading more of this author's work, even without my time machine!

Oh how I loved this story! Packed with great dialogue, diverse characters and the kind of motley, long term friendship group that makes your life richer. Roisin is an awesome heroine who definitely finds her back bone and as for Joe, well he’s the kind of “hero” I want to smack around. The ending made me so happy and I’ll definitely be reading more from this author.

I kind of feel flat after reading this.
The friendship group seemed fun but the main characters seemed kinda dull.
I received an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Roishi has been with Joe for 10 years. On a weekend away with their friends things all start coming to a head with Joe’s new TV series coming out revealing secrets of Roishi shared in confidence about her family. Mind you Roishi and Joe haven’t been happy in a while now. So what’s really just between Roishi and Joe and what’s knowledge allowed for everyone else?

Reasonably fast paced and focused on a short couple of months in their lives McFarlane explored a 10 year relationship and their interweaving friendship group. A classic romance story of questioning your love for someone and how well you really know your partner done in a more light hearted fashion on heavy topics. Overall enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers Australia for this ARC.

One of her best, this book showcases what we have come to love from Macfarlane - humour and reality in a not always comfortable mix. As ever, she presents some intriguing characters and their interplay is fascinating to follow. I liked that this book seemed more balanced and real - less preachy than some of her other offerings, Fans will be satisfied and new readers will be addicted.
