This is such a short and interesting read on basically how to garden for dummies without making someone who basically has a black thumb, like me, feel dumb 😂

I love how informative the content is and provides information to those who really do need help with plants.

I understood the difference between annual and perennial plants (although I still feel like it should be switched because the definitions make ZERO SENSE), the best garden tools, and also the best time/crash course to starting a garden.

This was a great very basic, beginners book on gardening. It’s pretty short, but covers quite a bit in shallow detail. I appreciated the pages on garden design. If you know zero about gardening, for the price, this is worth it.

I enjoyed this gardening book as it is perfect for those new to gardening and to those itching to garden. The book starts by introducing the essential tools needed to garden , the key words one needs to know and the book has exceptional imagery. Informative , well written , simplified and just a delight to read.

I really enjoyed the beautiful and helpful photographs that depicted the tools needed for successful gardening and what a garden should look like. This is a beginners book, so it tells what kind of fertilizer to use, what pruning looks like, and how to know what type of drainage your garden needs.

Written more like a series of blog posts in very informal writing, this book comes across a bit like listening to a friend attempt to guide you through gardening. The author has a clear passion for gardening, and it shines through in the way she writes about it with enthusiasm and knowledge. Unfortunately, however, the book is lacking severely in editing: rife with missing and misspelled words, odd grammar, and other such things which are easily overlooked in casual blog posts yet stand out glaringly in a book.

The layout is... alright. Sometimes, the chosen clipart or photo edits look really weird and unprofessional, while other times they look nice and neat. The section on tools features a 'gradient' header that cuts off sharply, looking a bit more like a sloppy PowerPoint presentation than something suited for a book, and sometimes the fonts chosen for certain section headers are difficult to read. As a finished product, it comes across unpolished and in need of another editing (designing?) pass.

But - and this is a big but - the actual content is very informative and provides a decent amount of inspiration for those of us who have no clue what we want to do with a garden other than of course making it. I now finally understand the difference between annual and perennial plants, when before I couldn't quite grasp it and I've learned the purposes of some garden tools that I used to believe were interchangeable. Do I actually know how to go out and make a garden now? No, not by a long shot. I know that there are plants out there which grow at different times of the year (something I, of course, already knew) and have some inspiration on what I might consider doing, but I don't feel much closer to actually knowing how to begin gardening. This book doesn't feel as much like a guide to starting a garden but rather like a crash course in things to know prior to doing so.

If it were available in print, and had another pass through an editing team, I'd say it'd be a nice little coffee table book to help aspiring gardeners. As is, I'm torn on it because I see a significant chunk of value in the information provided but I don't think it quite delivers on the promised concept and I don't think it was ready for publication in its current form (but it has already been published, so this isn't an 'ARC might be subject to changes' situation as far as I know). With a bit more polishing, this could easily be a great little book - especially given the author's pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable tone - but as it stands, this is just alright and I can't say I'd rush to recommend it.

I found this book to be a quick and interesting read. Not quite what I thought it would be, I expected a little more about how to plant herbs/veggies. But still, it was quite interesting with lots about tools/seasons and much more.

Easy guide to planning and starting a garden no matter the space available. Mainnie answers questions and helps you get the cobwebs off your wishful thoughts to create a simple garden.

Did you ever want to know how to begin your gardening adventure? What about just knowing what tools you will need? How about what type of fertilizer to use? You'll get that and MORE, and not to mention, handy photos of everything you need throughout the book. I have roses at my house currently and learned that they need to be fertilized every 2-6 weeks.,,, I had NO IDEA! This was a great book, even for an (self-proclaimed) experienced gardener, such as myself!

I requested this book as my daughter and son-in-law have just moved into a new build property with a mud and rubble garden and this book will be perfect for them as beginners. A lot of gardening books assume some knowledge and this doesn't which is why it is perfect for them. A lot of information and ideas to get them started. It would, by no means, suit everyone for various reasons but I am going to suggest they download this book.

I really appreciate having a start up guide! The author seems very passionate about gardening and talks about it in a very sweet way.

The book was very helpful with starting to garden. It gave great tips and information! Would highly recommend if you are a new gardener! It helped my kids and I effectively plant our garden!

But it is just about garden as in infrastructure sense. How to plan the infrastructure of garden and basic tools to use, etc

I thought it was about a fruit and vegetable garden at first, but it covers water fountains, little ponds, flowers and everything else you need for some curb appeal.

This was a quick, informative read about starting a garden for your home or apartment. I was expecting more about vegetable or edible gardening, but this mostly covers aesthetic gardening like trees and shrubs. Still a helpful read if you are looking for some information on the very very basics.
