I stumbled upon this book somehow without having read the first one, but I still enjoyed it and was able to understand most of the mechanics of this fantasy world. This is a fun middle-grade read, reminiscent of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson but with a female protagonist. While this book was a bit all over the place for me, with so many magical races/creatures, numerous characters and plot threads, and so much going on, I think young readers would enjoy this series.

I would like to thank the publisher & Netgalley for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

this was a great sequel in the Minerva series, it had what I was hoping for based on the first book. The characters were what I was expecting. Sharron Riddle has a great writing style going on and it had everything that I enjoyed. It left me wanting to read more from this series and from Sharron Riddle.

"Already shivering, I decided to follow them. In the last month, I’d visited every shop on the square, and I still hadn’t found the right gift for my mom. How did you shop for a heksa who hated anything magic, and who cycled through the same three black dresses every week, because “it was easier than deciding what to wear”?
