This is a good book. The two main characters are Jo and Sawyer. They meet in a bar that Sawyer runs. There is an instant connection. Jo is in town for an audition, she is an actress. They start dating. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

I found this book a slow burner which was perfect for me as I never know when I’ll next have chance to read! I liked how the story flowed well but felt it did drag at parts. I liked reading how the relationship blossomed and they took it slow compared to others in this genre.

Jo Rossi is in the city, on the brink of what could be a major turning point in her career. An audition for a starring role in a new series has presented itself, and while she cherishes her role as a mother, her passion for her profession has been notably absent. Sawyer Knox is no stranger to taking bold risks and understands the implications of returning home. Despite being younger than Jo, he's drawn to her, wanting to aid in boosting her confidence for her upcoming audition. Jo initially harbors doubts, but as she becomes familiar with Sawyer, her emotions start to stir, yet she's hesitant due to past experiences where taking a risk led to a pause in her dreams. As Sawyer gradually dismantles her barriers, Jo is confronted with a choice that has the potential to change her life irrevocably.

This narrative is steeped in themes of love and risk-taking that push boundaries, and explores the true meaning of love, friendship, and family.

The Renegade - Kimberly Kincaid

A very quick easy romance read with a little bit of spice thrown in for good measure, Considering that this book isn't very long, I personally felt that I got to know the two main characters quite well, as usually in a book of this type I am always lacking a bit more context to the characters so I was pleasantly surprised by this. Jo and Sawyer were very likable characters, that had instant chemistry and passion. Thank you Netgalley, and Kimberly Kincaid Romance for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Jo Rossi has come to a different town for a chance at a dream that left her years ago when her daughter was born. Now with her sister and their team, she is hoping for a shot at a chance at a new show and maybe her acting career. the night that was supposed to be fun was cut short when Frankie and her team get called out. Now Sawyer Knox moves in as the team leaves and though she is flattered she turns him down. It is later as Knox continues to talk and wants to get to know her that she is looking at maybe saying yes. Of course, her sister is all for it and Jo still can’t understand why a younger man would want to be with her and that she has a child as well. Knox does not back down though. I found this to be a good read and still has the characters from the other books. A good read.

The story was cute but very slow. I expected more physical action (not sexual) but of an action adventure story. It was sweet how the age difference didn't really mater (less than 10 years between Sawyer and Jo). Sawyer was good for Jo - making her see her own strengths and to get out of her comfort zone behaviors. Jo was able to demand a third chance at her casting call for the lead on a new TV show coming out soon. Sawyer was able to
use is own TBI experience to assist Jo is learning her strengths / and not taking no for an answer.

The story reminded me a Harliquinn Romance story.

Two and a half stars.

Single mother Jo Rossi had to give up her dreams of becoming an actress when a one-night stand led to an unexpected pregnancy, just when she had won the part of a lifetime. Now six years later she has left her daughter with her ex and come to Remington to audition for a part that could change her life forever. Little does she expect to walk into a bar with her sister and meet the most amazing younger guy. However, given what impulsive behaviour led to previously, Jo wants to play it safe and devote her time to studying for the part that could mean she no longer has to reach drama.

Sawyer Knox was a Marine until an IED decimated his team and left him with a traumatic brain injury. He's spent years in therapy of all kinds and still has blinding headaches from time-to-time but he's determined to live life big and bold, in tribute to his brothers in arms who can no longer do so. Sawyer is blown away by the woman he serves in the bar, she's beautiful, funny, kind and talented but her life philosophy is his polar opposite.

I really wanted to like this but it just felt like a nothing-ever-happens kind of novel. There's no real interactions of any note with anyone other than each other, maybe a brief phone call but otherwise most activities are either Jo and Sawyer together or one of them having an internal monologue. There's a couple of PG-rated dates, Jo cooks a meal, they have smexy times, she has the audition, brief moment of conflict and reconciliation. 100% predictable and not a very exciting or interesting way of getting there.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Cute romance with Jo who is a single mom and hoping to revive her acting career and sizzling hot bartender, Sawyer.

Lots of drama and romance as Sawyer is so good for her self esteem and she really worked hard to nail the audition. Her ex, Derek, was better left in the past!

Good thing that Jo had a great sister who could talk her down and help Jo see that she still needs to take a chance.

Loved the ending!

This was my first Kimberley Kincaid novel and I really enjoyed it. A very slow burn story! Sawyer is ex-marine with some old battle scars he is still mending and Jo is a mother who had to put her dreams of being an actress on hold due to the pregnancy. Now Jo wants to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress but falling in love with Sawyer wasn’t the plan. I loved that Sawyer really believed in Jo’s talent as an actress! Also, I loved how Jo felt like she was fearless around Sawyer and it helped her achieve her dream. 3/5 star read for me. I will definitely read the others in the series 😊

I’m a big fan of Kimberly Kincaid and this book didn’t disappoint. This book is well written with developed characters that jumped off the page. The heroine is a single mom and the hero is ex-military. It’s an age gap romance that gave me all the feels. I enjoyed reading about Jo and Sawyer and their journey. Their attraction is palpable in this steamy romance. Huge thanks to the author and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

I loved this book and Sawyer was fantastic. Sawyer is ex military who now runs a bar where all the Intelligence officers hang out. He has a traumatic brain injury but doesn’t let that stop him. He is instantly attracted to Jo but is the type of man that wouldn’t push a woman to do things she doesn’t want to.
Jo is the mother of a five year old girl who put her dreams on hold when she found out she was pregnant. Now, she is trying to make her dreams come true. She never expected to meet anyone, especially a man like Sawyer. She is attracted to Sawyer and tries to compartmentalize their relationship, her real life and her dreams.
I liked how they moved fast, yet took time to go on a few dates and had conversations, instead of jumping into the physical relationship. Sawyer was sweet, understanding and a wonderful man. Jo was a fantastic mom, but a little hesitant when it came to relationships (her daughter’s father did a number on her trust).
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more in this series. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

This was a great novella that introduced our main characters and their whirlwind, when-you-know-you-know romance. It was sweet, funny and totally relatable! I LOVED the chemistry between Sawyer and Jo! I will always wish for more story about the characters.

I enjoyed this contemporary age-gap romance. Althought it is novella length, the author did a good job of giving the plot and characters depth. A great read to pass an afternoon.
