Usually fine as simply a participant in family schemes, Marjorie is ready to take the lead as the Wynchester family aims to take down a forger. As the art expert in the family, her skill set makes her the perfect sibling for the heist. Lord Adrian Webb is a known rogue, but his role as forger is not as clear cut as the Wynchester’s first assume. When it becomes apparent that Adrian’s role isn’t voluntary, Marjorie makes it her mission to save not only the people of London, but also the handsome Lord Webb. If only Adrian could stop his endless flirting!

Adrian and Marjorie share a lack of self assurance, one because she has always participated but never lead, the other because he has been told he is not worthy. Throughout the story there is individual character development that is woven seamlessly into a great heist plot! I like to describe this series as a historical oceans eleven with a wonderful romantic plot-line! If you are interested in historical romance but aren’t sure where to start, this is the perfect series! It’s funny, sharp, a little fantastical in the best way, and puts a progressive spin on regency romance. It doesn’t need to be read in series order, so you can easily jump right in to book four!

Thank you to NetGalley, Forever, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book!

These books keep getting better and better. Marjorie is the latest Wynchester to want to head up one of their Robin Hood-esque plans to help the downtrodden. Marjorie is hard of hearing/partially deaf, and an astounding artist, but these things make her think that perhaps she isn't the best choice for heading up the big cases that her family takes on. This case deals directly with art and forgeries though, so Marjorie sets off to prove herself. And wouldn't you know it, part of the villainous crew is the handsome man that had sparked her interest at the art museum not too long ago. (But is he really a bad guy or is he just in too deep trying to repair his past image??)
Lots of heart (I bookmarked so many pages of Marjorie learning that she is worthwhile and supported, and good at what she does), some fun stress-inducing hijinks, a homing hedgehog, and a satisfying romance AND satisfying found family moments. Loved it.

Thanks to Netgalley and Forever Publishing for the e-ARC and ARC!

My Rogue to Ruin is the fourth book in The Wild Wynchesters series. I didn't realize this was part of a series when I requested this book. I struggled with this one because I kept feeling I was missing a part of the story, although it does do some backtracking, but I needed more. So, for me, I feel as if this is not a stand-alone book.

Lord Adrian Web was cut off by his family about ten years ago. Without any funds he became a forger of various forms of art. He has been working for known dishonest man who runs a pawn shop. Adrian finally returns back to England with a box of counterfeit items that his boss charged him to reproduce and steal the originals. Adrian is so good at what he does, that his boss doesn't realize that he is actually getting the copies to sell instead of the real items.

The Wynchesters are known for their helping to right the wrongs of others that are being taken advantage of. Marjorie and her family make a plan for her to infiltrate the pawnshop and take down the forgers. Marjorie is then caught in the same trap Adrian has found himself. Marjorie is partially deaf and is able to remember most details that others miss. She attempts to use her own abilities to forge items in order to free herself. But the more time she spends with Adrian, the more she realizes there is a lot more to him than his reputation.

I have read several books by Erica Ridley, and I enjoy the way she writes. I liked this book but found several spots that dragged unnecessarily. I think if I had read the series from the beginning, I would have understood the Wynchester family dynamics better.

I want to say this is bridgerton meets the Italian job but that won’t be the best description of what my rough to ruin is. I have never read anything like it. The multi dimensional world that we find ourselves in is fascinating as well and all the dynamics that go into this SLOW burn romance with a twist. I also did not see the twist coming. I am here for the wit and ingenuity!!

I really enjoyed this installment in the Wynchester saga! Marjorie is finally stepping forward and putting herself at the forefront of one of the Wynchester missions, having to do with forged money... it turns out the forger is none other than the hot gentleman she met at the museum before one of the family's famous capers was set in motion.

At first, she isn't sure what to make of Adrian, rumors are he's a completely unrepentant rake, but she sees a different side of him, especially when it comes to his sister. I loved all of their banter, and every time Adrian came face to face with a new family member his reaction had me laughing out loud, especially when it came to Tommy and her disguises. Also, there was a super adorable hedgehog who was in training to be a homing hedgehog and now I want one!

This is an excellent addition to this series, the hijinks were top-notch, the romance was swoon-worthy, and I was constantly smiling or laughing out loud.I loved getting to see what the other siblings have been up to, and I can't wait to see which Wynchester will get their story next!!!

A fun read! It was delightful to romp with the Wyndchesters. The book begins hilariously with the pandemonium painting session. Can I have a baby hedgehog??
I love a good rakish rogue and Adrian played that up to,the hilt. Majorie, although quiet, is very devious and delicious.
I loved the rapport between the two along with the raucous family members from both sides.
Forgery and foreplay make a great reading combo!

The fourth entry in the Wild Wynchesters series has one of our favorite setups EVER: Adrian was cut off by his family about ten years ago for conduct unbecoming of a gentleman. Since then, he's been roaming the Continent, collecting antiquities, and selling them through a criminal-adjacent middleman to the aristocracy. Except he HASN'T been taking antiquities, he's been forging them and leaving the originals where they belong. And that criminal-adjacent middleman? Well, he's just realized he's been conned.

So, he takes Adrian prisoner and forces him to forge counterfeit coins, which are passed along to unwitting pawnshop customers. Which is where Marjorie comes in: one of the customers comes to the Wynchesters for their form of justice. Marjorie and her family make a plan for her to infiltrate the pawnshop and take down the forgers - including Adrian. But when she's basically trapped in there with him for upwards of 12 hours a day, she finds it quite difficult to resist his charms.

We absolutely LOVED this idea. Something kept it from being a new favorite of ours, and we think we know what it is: during all of these days that Adrian and Marjorie spend together, they spend them mostly talking. And repeating their conversations. And talking again. Look, we don't hate a slow burn, but there was a lot of potential wasted in the middle of the book. (We're not saying you HAVE to show the evolution of a relationship with corresponding physical intimacy, just that we think the book could really have benefited in this area...)

This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the book.

This book was too darn sweet! I love the Wynchester family, seeing that this is book #4, I missed out on a whole bunch of fun when it comes to this family. They are a different bunch, and they don’t fight crime (but some of them will if they have to lol), but they help out those who employ them, more like a family of PI’s, with animals that help as well.

I loved Marjorie and Adrian together. She decides to work alongside him to find out if he’s this big bad forger ruining people’s lives in her town. But once she gets to know him and that he’s not this bad guy, and his past and family issues, even I started to love Adrian. Their chemistry was like no other, and I loved how when Adrian had no one the Wynchester clan was there for him, and they are so funny!!!!!

I adored this book, there were little inspirational bits in here, and as an artist myself, and one who has lost her way because of fear, this was touching.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy through NetGalley for free but all thoughts are my own.

I really enjoyed this 4th installment of my favorite do-gooder caper family. Marjorie is the quiet sister who is half-deaf and also remembers every detail once she's sees it. she's also an incredible artist. Lord Adrian is trying to find his way back to his sister after his father disown him for the last seven years. A SLIGHT mixup with his stolen artifacts and he finds himself forced to create Counterfeit coin for villainous boss. Marjorie finds her way into the drama and the two team up to find a way out.

This has all the Wynchester quirk you can expect after reading the last 3 books. Lord Afrian is an unapologetic Rake who becomes absolutely smitten with Marjorie. These two have great banter and even a sense of adventure thrown in there too.

To be honest this book almost lost me in the beginning because it takes a while for our main leads to get together. But once they do the banter saved it.

highly enjoyed this caper style book completely with sweaty forge imagery, homing hedgehogs, Rakes Rakes Rakes, and a heroine who is not scared of anything.

When exiled rogue Adrian returns to London he finds himself forced to make counterfeit money while he pays a debt off. When Marjorie looks into the situation, she joins him to work on the inside of the operation to help bring the kingpin down. They find they have much in common and must trust each other to get out of this sticky situation. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Forever for my honest review.

I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series so far, but none more than My Rogue to Ruin. Our heroine is Marjorie, a quiet bookworm, who usually assists her siblings from behind the scenes. But this crime is about art—ART!—so Marjorie steps into the spotlight to help save the day.

This story was so fun. Adrian and Marjorie have instant chemistry and it’s clear how very alike they are. Both experts in their art, they end up working together to try to con a conman.

Full of witty banter, sweet affection, and sibling loyalty, My Rogue to Ruin was a sweet and fun read. In the previous books, I felt that the “heist” overshadowed the romance, but I felt the mix was just right this time. I loved them working together to figure out a solution, while simultaneously falling in love.

The best part of this series is the found family trope; it’s top tier. I can’t resist a supportive and lovable family.

Can’t wait for the next!

Those crazy Wynchesters do it again…this time it’s Marjorie’s turn. She’s a master painter and has a photographic memory but is a wallflower. In a family of flamboyant and talented siblings, Marjorie is quite and is content to stay in the background and not join in on any family capers. But, when an elderly widow seeks the Wynchester’s help because she’s had to pawn her beloved wedding ring for rent money and received counterfeit, useless coins, Marjorie is so outraged, she jumps in. She infiltrates a crime boss’s lair to put an end to the counterfeiting, she encounters the gorgeous rake, Lord Adrian Webb. With his own baggage’s, Adrian is caught up in the crime boss’s counterfeiting operation to protect his beloved sister, Lady Iris. Despite her initial dislike of Lord Adrian, Marggie is as attracted to him as Adrian is to her. Can they over come their own issues and join together to take down the cruel crime boss and find love and acceptance….

Marjorie is a fine lady coming from a family of unusual characters. She is partially deaf and has a form of synesthesia where she sees colors around people (like an aura). She is an artist who becomes embroiled in a forgery scheme to take down a criminal syndicate preying on the ton. She crosses paths with a handsome forger working for the crime boss and they team up to save themselves and bring justice.

This one is Bridgerton meets crime caper. I swear I only pick up these romances when they have cartoony cute covers. But looking at the rest of this authors catalog, they are generally more the Fabio dipping a woman in a bodice covers. I’m always interested when I pick one of these up and realize there is actually a story there and not just fluff and sex. Although there is a lot of fun banter and there is romance and eventually steam but you definitely have to wait for it. I appreciated that slower pace and that while they were hot for each other, the peril of their situation was the focus.

Apparently, this is the fourth of a series that takes you through each family member and their caper / love story… you definitely don’t need to read the others to enjoy this one but I’m interested in going back now that I know them.

This book has fabulous disability rep, Marjorie is capable and yet vulnerable. The “rogue” as always is misunderstood but what I liked is there was not a third act misunderstanding between the two. The beats of tension were more about the crime than the romance. That’s the type of story I want to read! Also there is a hedgehog and crow who adorably help the family solve crimes, I’d recommend reading it for that alone!

Thanks to Forever for gifted access via Netgalley. All opinions above are my own.

Genre: historical romance
London, 1818

Marjorie Wynchester generally prefers to fade into the background and work behind the scenes on her family’s do-good heists. When a widow is evicted for paying rent with counterfeit coins, the Wynchesters step in, and Marjorie takes the lead with her art expertise. She disguises herself as an orphan and master counterfeiter, and strikes a bargain with a crime lord in order to infiltrate his operations. This leads her to Lord Adrian Webb, disinherited second son and master artist and forger himself, who has landed in some trouble with the crime lord over forged art pieces from Europe. Marjorie learns that Adrian isn’t as invested in the crime as he appeared, and, as it turns out, is very interested in her!

What a fun installment in the Wynchesters’ series! I always love a good heist, and this series will always deliver that, along with delightful family laughs and joyful love. My Rogue to Ruin is fairly low-angst, making it fun to inhale in just a few sittings. Adrian puts on the airs of a scoundrel and a rogue, but he’s a cinnamon roll hero who wants to protect his sister, and his own heart. Marjorie, for all her desire to hang back and watch from the sidelines most of the time, is fiercely passionate about art and lights up with the competition of creating better forgeries than Adrian. Like all Wynchesters, she wants to bring true justice to the people who deserve it, and it was pure fun to see her bring Adrian to their side.

This series features diverse found family - the Wynchesters are all adopted and come from a variety of backgrounds - and each Wynchester is unique in their own way. I think the thing I’ve come to love most about the series is how each of their love stories is unique to their own personalities. Marjorie and Adrian are no different, and their romance is sweet and passionate and warm and genuine. I love a romance where the couple needs to throw themselves at each other as soon as they are behind closed doors.

You can easily read this series out of order. Though all the siblings from previous books appear with their partners, Ridley does a great job of reminding you who they are and what their talents are.

Thank you to @readforeverpub and NetGalley for an eARC for review. My Rogue to Ruin is out 9/12/23.

OK, this book is too much of a struggle for me. I'm giving up (DNF) at around 65%. It's too much of a chore and it's taking too long to finish.

I am over halfway through and still couldn't care less about the main couple in this story or if they end up together or not. I don't even remember the character's names. The plot is dragging,,,,is there a plot? There is no chemistry between the characters. If they weren't "locked up" (kind of, not really) together, would they even like each other?

There's no witty banter/flirting. If Marilyn (? I think that's her name, not sure...Meredith??) wasn't so unsocialized, maybe she'd recognize this guy's not worth the trouble. Also, is she psychic? I get that she's partially deaf and has art skills. Did she really need the ability to see auras too? It's overkill. It all felt like too much and not enough at the same time. I just can't with this book anymore and no one has even got it on yet!

This might be the first time I've read so far in a historical romance and not run into at least one sex scene. Still just kissing....yawn.

Snowley, the villain seems so lame literally anyone should be able to foil him. Hedgehog included. He and his bumbling toadies are not scary so the stakes are low.

Saving his sister is a noble motivator for the main guy (Mr. Art Forger) I guess, but at the same time, she's got a gambling addiction and no common sense, I'm not feeling sympathy for her at all or him. If his brother was set up as the villain of this story, it would be way more compelling. THAT'S the real villain, right? He framed his own brother!

I really liked the first book in this series, but I've not been interested enough in the rest of these adopted siblings to continue reading. This one sounded promising, but I should've stopped after the first book.

"The riotous Wynchester family has taken on a new case to expose a forger, but the prime suspect isn't at all what he seems in this captivating Regency romp."
The Wynchesters are at it again. This unscrupulous family has been up to more than just doing good.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
My Rogue to Ruin is the fourth in Erica Ridley’s Wild Wynchesters series. The romance works as a standalone, but as the most compelling bits are family dynamics, I do recommend checking out the first three first.
I continue to love the fun adventures the ragtag Wynchesters get up to, and while their numbers are growing, thanks to the marriages of the last few books, and now babies (as revealed in this installment), I still love how they interact together. And to see them get involved in a caper again is a lot of fun. It did sometimes overwhelm the romance, however.
The central characters themselves are fun, although I didn’t feel like they properly got time to shine here, especially with everyone else wanting to dominate on-page. Marjorie is partially deaf, and I like how this was represented, even though I can’t speak to all the specifics, not being deaf myself. Adrian was also pretty interesting, having a rakish persona, and he unwittingly got caught up in a forgery and blackmail scheme, and has a past of being an artist kicked out of his family home. I liked that they bonded over their shared love of art, but I didn’t find myself truly rooting for them in a super deep way, as their relationship felt very surface-level.
More than anything, this book suffered from a lot of filler, and Ridley’s roots in indie publishing writing primarily shorter works are very evident here. While I’m glad each Wynchester is getting their own book so far, I feel like this story specifically could have been told in half the page time it took, as a lot of this story dragged.
There’s a lot of potential here, but it’s very muddled. While it’s not an installment for the keeper shelf (especially at the current price point), I do think it’s worth a read at some point if you love the family and series, in hopes that this lull does not continue into the next installment.

Another hit from Ridley and the Wynchesters!

Ridley does such a good job writing characters with disabilities, how they go through life without making them victims or othering them. Love that.

I love that while Marjorie starts with intense disdain for Adrian, she doesn't totally let it cloud her judgment, she sees beyond his bravado and learns the truth about him. Neither her disdain or Adrian's secrets are drawn out. Adrian takes full accountability for actions and accepts his fate, the self-reflection is nice. And I love how Ridley manages to include the Wynchester siblings throughout the story without taking the focus off Marjorie and Adrian.

This book is funny, warm, and Marjorie is so relatable at times. Love, love, love!

Charming scoundrel Lord Adrian Webb is banished to Rome without a penny. He turns to art forgery, opening himself up to blackmail by a counterfeiter when he returns to London. Artist Marjorie Wynchester infiltrates the crime ring and realizes Adrian is being forced to act against his will. She's falling in love, but can she save him from charges of treason?

I loved the charming characters and original storyline in this novel. It's funny, heartwarming, and full of intrigue. Can't wait for the next Wynchester novel! I never want this series to end.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Regency caper with a…No! make that many differences!

My second introduction to the Wynchester siblings and it continues to be a wild ride. An unusual family of mixed persons from varying backgrounds, a family made not born, who seek to right the wrongs done to ordinary folk. There’s a host of animals involved like a gorgeous homing hedgehog. I know—wonderful comic relief!
It seems there’s a counterfeiter loose in the community. Folks are being relieved of their hard won cash.
Marjorie Wynchester is the artist who sees things in terms of color explosions! Lovely! She’s hard of hearing and wants to prove to her family that she can take the lead in this case searching for the swindler.
Enter the gorgeous and artistic Lord Adrian. Banished seven years ago to the continent by his father the Marquess of Meadowbrook for daring to turn his energies towards a career in art. He’s the youngest son of Meadowbrook, an intolerant stickler.
Adrian has been blackmailed into counterfeiting coins by the rogue Snowley, known as the Grandfather of St. Giles. He has Bow Street runners in his pocket. Coins that the residents of the area can ill afford to lose. You see, Adrian had been counterfeiting artefacts for those on their Grand Tour but, with the war over chances are his copies would be discovered as just that. He thought a simple explanation to Snowley and he’d be able to bow out. What an innocent! Snowley was not about to cut Adrian loose. He’s about to use Adrian to increase his own profits.
Marjorie, after her own investigations, has decided to put the counterfeiting people out of business. Once she discovers Adrian’s role and the bind he’s in, she wants to fix his situation as well.
Complex, zany and completely enjoyable!

A Forever ARC via NetGalley.
Many thanks to the author and publisher.
