Well this was a first! Historical romance that includes two master forgers thrown together. I liked the unique angle, and the take-down of the arch villain. But this one (even being familiar with the Wild Wynchesters series) REALLY stretched my suspension of disbelief. I did like seeing Marjorie come into her confidence and feel secure in her place in the family. 3.5 / 5 stars.

Majorie Wynchester has always felt like she faded into the background of her caper-committing family, and she's finally ready to take the lead on a case. Someone in London is counterfeiting money, and she's determined to figure out who. The case leads her to meeting Lord Adrian Webb. Adrian is the outcast of his family, and now he's caught up in another scheme. When Marjorie and Adrian meet, she think realizes there is more to this rouge than meets the eye.

I have to start off by admitting that I do not read typically read historical romances, but when the opportunity presented itself to read this book, I decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did because it has turned me around on the genre. I found the characters charming, the plot interesting, and the romance made me swoon. I found myself rooting for Marjorie and Arian to find their happiness, and my heart was racing to know what would become on the case. I will say this book is on the longer side, but the chapters were shorter, which was nice.

I really enjoyed this book, and will be checking out the others in the series.

This series is hit or miss but I generally like the framework and famliy members. This one was engaging and I liked the lead couple.

Without the knowledge of the first books in the series, it’s a bit hard to put together what’s happening with the Wynchester household. So much that it took me out of the story a couple of times.

The world-building was also hard to grasp with the animal companions and the missions they seemed to go on.

The romance was left to be desired, having some great moments but never progressing in the storyline, and then they were together. It was forced proximity done in a new way but at the 60% mark, I would hope for some change in direction.

One Liner: Entertaining

Lord Adrian Webb is a rakish scoundrel banished from the country by his father around ten years ago. He is back in London to meet his little sister, Iris, the only family member whose opinion matters to him. However, his little forgery, a source of his income, lands Adrian in hot water.
The Wynchester family has its own rules. They will do almost anything to help those who need it. They are knights in shining armor, with varied skills to their names. Marjorie is the youngest sister, an artist, and a wallflower protected by the family.
However, when they get a case of counterfeit pennies, Marjorie steps up to solve it. This leads her straight to Adrian and his heart. But the duo has a few hurdles to clear before they can talk about their personal lives. The villain, after all, will stop at nothing.
The story comes in the third-person POV of Adrian and Marjorie.

My Thoughts:
Though the book is the fourth in the series, it reads well as a standalone. The couples from the previous books have their HEA and have minor to moderate roles in this one.
The book is what I’d call a contemporary-themed historical romance. Even though the setting is 1818, the characters, storyline, and diversity come from today’s world. You’ll have to go with the flow to enjoy this one.
I like that the heroine is partially deaf (due to smallpox) and an expert at forgery. Well, she’s also an artist and comes from a found family with versatile talents. Some of them do read like caricatures, but the warmth between the siblings and the family makes up for the lack of character depth.
The main leads are decent enough and easy to root for, so that’s a definite plus. They aren’t complex or multilayered, but I wasn’t expecting that, anyway. As expected, Adrian is a good man, though he prefers to use his reputation to keep people away. I like how he years for family love and support.
There’s enough humor, drama, and action to keep the reader interested. Snowley is very much a ruthless villain who looks like a dear old grandpa. Even though the stakes are high, the book doesn’t feel intense. It is meant to be a lighthearted romance (Steam 1.5 max).
The climax happens in stages. We see a series of events with multiple issues cropping up one after another. However, they are neatly tackled and sorted to bring HEA.
I love the sort of dual epilogue in this one. The second last chapter could have been an epilogue, but it isn’t. We have a final proper epilogue that hints at the next book. Though I haven’t read the previous books (I’m familiar with the titles but didn’t realize they belonged to the same series), I intend to check out the next one. Well, why wouldn’t I when the FMC is the murder-loving Elizabeth?
There’s quite a bit of filler content (not sure how much will be edited in the final version). Still, it doesn’t weigh down the pacing much. I could sustain a good momentum when reading and finished it in 2 days.
And I have to mention Tickletums, the homing hedgehog being trained by Jacob. I mean… how cute is that? We also have a messenger crow, a sheep (Ophelia), and a bunch of other animals. But Tickletums gets my vote.

To summarize, My Rogue to Ruin is a lighthearted Regency romance with modern fittings. It’s an entertainer and should be treated as such, even if it manages to deal with a couple of serious topics. Don’t look for logic in this one!

The Wynchester family has taken on a new case! Their aim is to expose a forger and return goods gained under false pretenses. Marjorie goes undercover; only to discover the forger is not at all the kind of person she assumed they’d be.
I loved the premise and setup of this book. The forced proximity and the slow build they eventually have to realizing that they are
both on the same side worked so well and had me practically binging the entire book in one sitting. The romance was so well paced and Marjorie and Adrian complemented each other so well!
Adrian was such a rich and fun character to read about and Marjorie was on such an interesting journey of character development that was really interesting to follow. I always love returning to the Wynchester’s and their hijinx and gimmicks. Overall a light and fun read!

“Art is supposed to improve lives, not ruin them…”

Well, I can safely say that I consider My Rogue to Ruin by Erica Ridley a work of art and the only thing it can ruin is your current TBR list!!!

Full of fun, family, hijinks and romance, this fourth adventure of the Wynchesters is their best caper yet! (Don’t worry! You can totally jump into the series with this book)

Marjorie Wychester has felt like the black sheep of her out going family for as long as she can remember. As the shy and restrained sibling with skills best suited to the home (her artwork), she has stayed and secure in the background in the Wynchester family escapades until now. With a counterfeit coin operation threatening the livelihood of poor of London, the Wynchester’s have been asked to remedy this scourge. Being the only one who can pose as a counterfeiter, Marjorie takes this as her cur to step out of the Wychester shadows and prove herself… and if she just happens to fall in love with another rival counterfeiter? All the better!

Lord Adrian Webb is finally going on the straight an narrow- after years of supporting himself from his art forgeries on the continent, he back in London to sister and start over… he just has to complete one last deal… Too bad this deal finds him in indentured service to a nasty crime lord creating counterfeit coins for his empire! Well, at least he has some intriguing company when a rival counterfeiter joins his operation- how many kisses can they have while waiting for the coins to form?

This book was an absolute DELIGHT! I cannot recommend it enough. Ridley has created another unique and captivating Wychester sibling and a romance that is guaranteed to leave you tickled pink!

Thanks to Forever Publishing for my arc copy.

This book features a rakish hero who got disowned from his family and resorted to art forgery to get by. Then the hero got caught by a blackmailer and now his freedom is in peril. The heroine's family helps those in need and in this case, the heroine has the skills to take charge of the forgery investigation. This brings the heroine to the hero, and the more they learned about each other, the more they become closer. But before they could have their happy ending, the couple must overcome a lot of hurdles in this historical romance novel.

This is the fourth installment of THE WILD WYNCHESTERS series. Focusing on art forgery and the love that comes up for the main characters, it was a nice ride in reading it. I really enjoyed the animals that are in the story, and the secondary characters that supported the main couple were truly what enriched the book. I liked the heroine more than the hero because he was the kind of Rake that I don't enjoy reading as much. Therefore, the romance wasn't the best for me, but the book is a nice addition to the series.

Love, love, love this book! I haven't read the previous books in the Winchester series but I definitely will now. I thought this book was really clever, funny and sexy. And there is a hedgehog! I love Tickletums!

I really liked the two MCs, Marjorie and Adrian, and felt that the backstories provided for them, the personal challenges they are each trying to overcome, as well as the shared challenge they face read as authentic to me. I wanted to root for them and see them defeat their nemesis. I liked how they didn’t start off as friends or even knowing they were on the same side in taking down Snowley but that their alliance developed as the book progressed, as did their love for each other.

The story felt like a good take on the damsel in distress, though with the damsel rescuing the guy. I loved how Adrian accepted this and happily followed Marjorie’s lead, recognizing that she and her family had far more skills, knowledge, and experience to get them out of the situation they were in.

I think the disability rep was handled quite well, based on my knowledge and understanding of the deaf community, though I acknowledge I am not an expert by any means (I have deaf family members and deaf friends, but I recognize their's aren't the only lived experiences and that I can't truly understand what it is like to be deaf). The use of sign language was great, allowing Marjorie to silently communicate with her siblings and eventually Adrian after starting to teach him. I think this skill, along with Marjorie’s ability to lip read, her artistic skills, her memory, and tenacity helped her to prove to herself that she is a valuable member of the Wynchester family. Her family already believed in her, even though Marjorie didn’t think they did.

I also loved the other Wynchester family members. The first few books are on the TBR now and I will happily read the next books in the series, too.

Huge thank you to @readforeverpub , NetGalley, and the author for the eARC and finished copy. All thoughts are my own.

Oh, those Wild Wynchesters , partaking in one crazy caper after another! This might be their riskiest one ever! I have been onboard for them all, and our author never ceases to amaze me with such clever and unique storylines , characters, and dialogue! Just incredible! Marjorie and Adrian’s story is just the best! Trapped in a hopeless situation, they fell in love with one another, working as a team. They believed in each other, supported one another, thought the best of each other, and persevered till the end. Of course, Wynchesters Always stick together, using their exceptional talents to solve any calamity, even welcoming Adrian into their family. This story is a delight!

Another absolutely fun and adorable romp from Erica Ridley! I've been really excited to get to Marjorie's story from the start. She is quieter, more set in her ways, but after seeing how her family is changing she gets anxious about it and throws herself directly into the latest case they have, a counterfeiter who they believe is scamming desperate people out of their heirlooms. Enter Lord Adrian Webb, second son who was banished after a scandal and has spent the last 7 years as an art forger on the continent during the war. After returning home, he is blackmailed into becoming a counterfeiter for a nasty criminal head. Marjorie and Adrian meet after she weasels her way into joining the operation and after a series of mishaps and mistarts, they can't resist their feelings for one another. Their relationship is very sweet. They spend a lot of time just talking about themselves and their lives and dreams. I loved how close they felt by the end. We also get a couple of different Wynchester hijinks throughout the story, which is always a good time. Also, Tickletums the homing hedgehog is my fav, what a lil bean. Oh! And I appreciated the deaf/hard of hearing representation. I can't say if it is entirely accurate, but I liked how Marjorie handles other people and doesn't let them put her down because of it. She also seems to have a form of synesthesia maybe where she can see colors come off of people in relation to their feelings? It was really cool!
I'm really intrigued to see what Elizabeth's story will be since in this book she expressed interest in romance with any gender. Whoever it is better treat her like a queen! Also Jacob, Mr Zookeeper himself, getting the last book? We love that. My top favs being the last to get their HEA in this series and in the Bergman Brothers series? Amazing. Also I hope we get a spin off series with Phillipa's book club members!

Another cute regency romp

I enjoy Ms Ridley's sense of humour and cute regency romance/adventures/cosy mysteries. This one is another winner and highly diverting. It is best to start with one of the earlier books in this series, but one can enjoy this book as a standalone. Definitely recommended!

Thank you to the publisher who lent me a time-constrained e-arc via Netgalley. This review is optional and my own opinion.

Thank you Forever and Grand Central Publishing for making this book a spotlight romance on NetGalley 💕

I was not looking for a Regency series where a group of siblings need an adventure and then fall in love along the way when I read the first Wynchester book. And now with book four, I’m certified to follow them all off a cliff (which, considering their antics, could actually happen).

It was Marjorie’s turn to get her love story, and I ended up being genuinely moved by her journey to break out of her typically behind-the-scenes role in her family’s capers. Erica Ridley does a great job of showing how in tune to the visual world Marjorie is to the point of seeing colors, not to mention giving her such gumption!

I did not expect this to be a forced proximity romance, but who would hate being stuck with Adrian Webb? While I loved Adrian mostly because he loves Marjorie, he is also just trying to do his best in an impossible situation. Without giving too much away, this is definitely one of the more earned HEAs for a Wynchester book.

Can’t wait for book five! Four scrap metal stars (I promise that reference is adorable when you read the book) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Erica Ridley for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for My Rogue to Ruin coming out September 12, 2023. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Marjorie Wynchester lets her siblings lead when it comes to planning their investigations. She prefers to work in the background. But someone in London is trying to pass off counterfeits, and this is the time for her to shine. She’s the only one with the skill needed to find the suspect. Soon, all the evidence leads her straight to the eligible Lord Adrian Webb.

Adrian is without a doubt a roguish scoundrel, but he never meant to get caught up in a forgery scheme. Especially one that’s so involved. Now a blackmailer is out to ruin him, and the most intriguing woman he's ever met is trying to throw him in jail.

Every time Marjorie thinks she has Adrian sussed out, her assumptions are proven wrong. He’s a heartless scoundrel. A fiercely loyal brother. A smooth liar and a good kisser. He’s the most fascinating man she’s ever met. Is wooing her just one more attempt to avoid the law? Or is it possible he’s not such a rogue after all?

This is actually the first book I’ve read by this author. I realized there are other books in the series. After this, I definitely want to check them out! This was such a fun historical romance! I loved the characters! The only little thing was the bad guy seemed a little one dimensional, but I’m glad there was more time with Adrian and Marjorie. I loved their conversations and chemistry. I loved the action and the heist was really fun. I loved that Marjorie saw herself as a reserved wallflower type, but she just needed an opportunity to shine. And Adrian recognized she was talented and intelligent.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys regency romances!

Officially DNFing this one for now.
I keep trying to get back to it but for some reason it's just not working for me.
I'm 36% in and I still feel no attachment to the characters, which makes it hard to enjoy anything. I wasn't a fan of their first encounter as well so I can't say it started well for me. The story isn't picking up and I'm just not into it sadly.

I haven't read the first books in this series though so I might try to go back and read in order and get back to this one after. I'm not saying I'll never finish it but for now I can't imagine this reading going well for me so I'm putting it down.

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

The Wild Wynchesters are quirky, amusing, and overall great fun. In "Rogue", quiet Marjorie gets her chance to lead the bunch on a quest to take down a counterfeiter.

When it turns out that the main executor of the scheme is doing the work under the direction and duress of one of London's master criminals, the plot gets more complicated.

Adrian and Marjorie are a well matched pair, and the romance develops nicely. The caper is even more fun! I look forward to more from Erica Ridley.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This premise of this story really drew me into it. I really liked the first two books and was disappointed by the third (even though Graham was my favorite character) so I thought this would bring me back on track with this series. I loved the first part of the story even though Marjorie and Adrian were not together that much but as the story went on, I was frustrated with the story. Even though there was stuff happening (I love the animals although I didn’t understand how some of the were used but that is probably on me) we didn’t get much of a romance as such. Lots of kisses but nothing really progressed. Not that sex should be the crux of the story but in this story the lack of it was like a tease.

The Wild Wynchesters have returned in My Rogue to Ruin and this time it’s artist Marjorie at the heart of their latest mission. Her target? Lord Adrian Webb, a scoundrel and rogue like no other. A man banished from England seven years ago, only to return and begin counterfeiting coins, preying on the Wynchesters’ vulnerable clients. Except, when Marjorie goes undercover she learns Adrian isn’t all that he seems. In fact, he’s not exactly a willing participant in this treasonous plot. Can she free him and save the day? More importantly, can she do so without losing her heart to the rogue?

My Rogue to Ruin is fast-paced and fun. Marjorie is one of the less outrageous Wynchester siblings, usually more at home in her art studio than out and about like her siblings. But lately she’s been feeling at loose ends. Her siblings are moving on, falling in love…their family is changing and Marjorie – for all that she loves her siblings’ partners – isn’t fond of change. Especially since she doesn’t know her place in this shifting world. Then a case comes along that she can finally take the lead on. Her art expertise has her going undercover to bring down a forger. And that forger is an artist who threatens to throw Marjorie off her game.

Adrian is a charming rogue, but he’s not a bad person. In fact, he’s quite a good person who has made a number of mistakes. He’s a loving brother who has been separated from his family for quite some time and he’s lonely. Marjorie brings hope and love back into his life. The two of them have sparkling chemistry that makes this book delightful. I liked that they were both clever, resourceful, and talented. They complemented one another quite well. And of course, close quarters make their slide into love quick and easy. It’s surviving the story’s villain that will be hard. Luckily for Adrian and Marjorie they have the whole Wynchester family to help them. The Wynchesters can be a bit over-the-top sometimes but in this book they didn’t overtake the main couple, which I really appreciated.

Erica Ridley’s Wild Wynchesters romances always have action, love, and family. My Rogue to Ruin is no exception and it’s entertaining from beginning to end. I finished Marjorie and Adrian’s story a well-satisfied reader and I’m very much looking forward to the final two Wynchester siblings getting their happily ever afters.

The fourth book in the Wild Wynchesters series, but unfortunately not my favorite.

I really liked the first half of this book. The quips between Marjorie and Adrian were so great and I loved seeing their relationship evolve to something deeper as they spend more time together and learned more about each other. Marjorie was such an interesting main character. I loved that we got more background on her and her role in the Wynchester family.

However, I felt like the plot of this caper was a little on the slow side and when the action did happen, it happened quite fast and all at the end. I also missed the Wynchester family as a group in this one. As most of the action follows Marjorie, who was working on her own during this case, I felt deprived of seeing the other family members and their antics.

Special shoutout to Tickletum the hedgehog. Honestly, he deserves his own book because I'm obsessed with him. I think he made the book for me. I'm looking forward to Elizabeth's story!

The Wild Wynchesters series continues to be your best bet for historical romance filled with capers, steam, interesting characters from diverse backgrounds, and creative plots. Marjorie is up in this one, and this Wynchester is ready to step up and find her place in the spotlight and in her family. It's a fast paced plot with great tension at some points as Marjorie ends up in some tricky situations, and the romance with Adrian, dealing with his own family complications, is very nice.
