Get ready for an awesome sci-fi/romance ride with Stars On Fire by Sky Gold! Trust me, this book has got me hooked, and I'm all in for the entire series.

The future universe portrayed in this book is so captivating, I could totally picture myself living there. The blend of magic and technology in the world-building is nothing short of fantastic. And let me tell you, Kainan as a warrior and Selene as the heroine and nemesis - that's a match made in this epic universe.

I can already see so many thrilling and entertaining stories coming out of this series, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment. The narrative, the plot, the characters - everything is spot on! You seriously don't want to miss out on this gem of a book! So go grab yourself a copy, and get ready to be swept away into this incredible world. (Linda - Guest Reviewer)

Sci-Fi/Action/Romance INCOMING!

Set in a futuristic planetary system, this book will see you joining the main character, Selene, as she fights to take her planet back after a coup destroys those closest to her.
I loved the portrayal of Selene as being a bad-a**, weapons-trained woman who knows how to lead a planet. Her self-assuredness was refreshing in a time when “damsels in distress” feels overwritten.
From high-tech firefights to intense strategizing, this books’ attention to detail will have you feeling like you’re a part of all the action!
If you love sci-fi/fantasy/action/romance books, this is a book that will cause you to be anxiously awaiting the next in its series, The Sable Riders!

4/5 stars for me because: it was a bit too much sci-fi/futuristic for my preferences, BUT I did enjoy reading it and would like to red the entire series when available!

I'm going to just be honest as I jump into this and say that the description made this sound
more like a traditional fantasy, not like sci-fi (which isn't my genre). Had I realized, I probably wouldn't have requested this in the first place.

As such, I'm not sure how accurate my assessment of the world is, but it felt like there was a TON of depth to the politics and even just to the details of the settings and background. It's clear that the author really put a lot of plot into what they built.

That said, the delivery of that was difficult for me. Again, it might be because this isn't my genre, but it was very very hard for me to follow all of the worldbuilding as it was presented. A lot of it was told instead of shown, and even though it's quite details, it felt very info-dumpy. Which is unfortunate because the moments where I got to see the characters interact with their settings and the underlying political systems were great!

That said, I really love the banter and relationships in this book. I like Kainan's swagger and I love that Selene seems like a compassionate leader. I also liked that there was realistic space given for Selene's grief throughout the book; it all felt very authentic.

Book Name: Stars on Fire
Series: The Sable Riders #1
Author: Sky Gold
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Selene has just had her world turned upside down and finds herself on the run, trying to protect her planet, Dunia, and also find others that can help her to defeat a hostile take over.
Kaimana has spent year building up advanced technology, ships and weapons as he and his ‘brothers’ rule over his planet, Eden II.

There is a lot going on in this story and it certainly didn’t go where I was expecting it to along the way. There is a lot of world building, especially in the first handful of chapters as we set up the worlds and the characters. There are multiple planets, people and organisations to get your head around as we try to get into the flow of the story. The descriptions are very vivid and if you’re the kind of person who loves the world building aspect of sci-fi/fantasy books then you’ll enjoy this one.

I wish I saw Selene get more actively involved in some of the action parts of the stories. She kept telling us how she was army trained but we never really saw it. She mostly just attended meetings all day and while that is probably an accurate assessment of what leaders do in real life, it’s not as interesting to read about.

This is part of a series and it looks like we get Kate and his story next.

Thanks to #NetGallery and #EdenPublishing for the free advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was my first time reading a true sci-fi book! Usually I stick to fantasy/romantasy but this was more of a sci-fi romance. I was pleasantly surprised by the in-depth world building and complex plot…..and the smoking hot romance 🥵. Whirlwind adventure on many different planets with humans/ meta humans and alien royalty! All in all a great read for true adult sci-fi fans, only thing I thought I was missing as a first time reader was maybe a bit more of a soft introduction to the language or a map perhaps would be helpful for reference.

This was an ARC read. Thank you to the author!

I found this to be a unique and interesting sci-fi with incredibly rich worldbuilding and strong leads. I didn't like this use of made up swears, but that could just be my opinion as I never do, I find it slightly annoying. However the romance and overall book was written really well and I felt very engaged but I don't think it is the best thing out there.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sky Gold & Eden Publishing for an arc of Stars on Fire: A Spectacular Starlit Romance in exchange for an honest review. This review is wholly my own & may not be reproduced.

“'Selene, I don't do forever. It's not what this is.’ - Kainan Sable

He’s lethal, wraithlike, a warrior who lives in the shadows, the hidden inferno amongst the stars.

She’s driven, ambitious, unrelenting, with an allure that forces him from the shadows.

He needs to control the intensity of his reaction to her.

She fights the temptation glinting in his sapphire wildfire eyes.

He wants revenge.

She wants forever.

But he can’t give her forever.

Or can he?

War is stirring in the skies and stars above Eden II. Between empires in ascension and others in decline. Caught in the maelstrom, Selene never wanted to ratchet to No #1 on a System-wide ‘wanted dead or even more dead’ hit list. To save her life and people from their enemies, she’s forced to turn to a mysterious, secretive man, leader of a brotherhood of wraithlike, ruthless mercs.

Kainan is one of the galaxy’s most fierce operators with exponential power and reach. Selene tempts him from the shrouds of the stars with a chance to end their shared enemies for eternity.

Together they’ll light the stars on fire, even as darkness beyond their control seeks to turn their destiny - and their forever - to ashes.”

This is not usually in my realm of reading, but the description called out to me so I thought I’d give it a go. It was also a lot longer of a book than I normally ready so it took me a little while to get through it.

It was tedious at time and the pacing was a little slow here and there, but once it really got going, I was entranced and couldn’t put it down.

This was a fabulous sci-fi romance with unrequired love. The bad boy and the good girl trope, with lots of steam!

I am so happy I took a chance on this book as it was utterly fantastic and I highly recommend giving it a go, whether or not it is your usual genre.

4/5 Stars.

This one just wasn't for me, unfortunately. It's a little too "out there" for my tastes. I hate the made up swear words and the names of all the places hurt my brain. Its a good attempt at a fantasy world, but just not my style.
