Wow! There are SO MANY ways of celebrating the new year . . . and, not everyone's year begins on January first. This is a great book for kids to learn about other cultures - all the different customs and traditions, AND - all the things we have in common.

This would make a terrific addition to any school library.

The APA publishes many books that are carefully thought out and designed for kids. This new title invites young people to learn about holiday traditions from around the world. With colorful pictures, a great cast of children, and appealing text, this book will engage its audience. Invite them in as the New Year is celebrated.

This book would be a welcome addition to home and school libraries.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the American Psychological Association for this title. All opinions are my own.

What a perfect book to add to a classroom library! This book is about kids sharing their new years traditions from all around the world. With such cute illustrations.
Even though this book was jammed pack with facts, it was very age appropriate and easy to understand.
I LOVE a good multicultural book for kids, and this one is beautiful!

I noticed in the readers note, that its as mentioned that some holidays she learned about didn't quite make it into the book. I would love to see them extend that with more books to follow and maybe even different times of the year or religions!

Any children’s book that teaches about other cultures is a winner. I’ve seen many other holidays, but not New Year’s so this is definitely unique and belongs in all elementary schools!

Oh, how I wish this book will be longer than it is. This story is about a group of childrens who's learning the variety of New Year celebrations during a school lesson.

The story is well organised, on top of having nice visual accompaniment. I love how the author ensure to give a more detailed information of how different cultures celebrate New Year differently. It gives insight and also create awareness on the uniqueness of different cultures. However, this story left me craving for more, since there's just a small number of cultures included here. I wish the author could write a second book with lotsa more interesting cultures from all over the world.

Overall, despite craving for some more, I still feel satisfied with the storyline, and I think it can further helps us educate younger children on diversifying their knowledge on different cultures, and also teach them to be understanding and appreciate differences in their community. I could see this as a good medium to nurture a positive & wise young reader!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book provided by the publisher, American Psychological Association, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own

P/s: I wish the author could also include a Muslim character in the series, so we could learn more about their culture.

This is a great book! It is a perfect gateway to learning about different cultures by kids and not at all overwhelming with information. There is advice in the back about cultural identity.

**Thank you to NetGalley and APA/Magination Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review**

This book is all about celebrating diversity. Each child in the class celebrates the New Year in a different way based on their culture. We are told about Mexican, Scottish, Laotian, Persian, Chinese, Jewish, Nigerian, Spanish, and Nicaraguan traditions and foods.

I think this is a great way to introduce children to the many different kinds of people they will encounter throughout their lives. It may also encourage them to ask more questions and increase their understanding of the many colors of our world.

At the end, there is a great author's note about how children develop cultural identity as well as how to help them keep learning.

I can't wait to add this to my library's collection! It was very inclusive and explained how every family celebrated things slightly differently. The illustrations were amazing as well!

I am of the opinion that is important for all children to learn about all kinds of different cultures, and it is important for kids who aren't white, middle class, or US citizens to see themselves, their family, and their culture reflected, celebrated, and explored in children/teen media (see Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi's TED Talk "The Danger of a Single Story" for further explanation).

A Year of Celebraciones is an excellent introduction to cultural awareness, learning about the world, and exploring heritage. I can't wait to recommend this book to the parents and kids in my life.

A Year of Celebraciones is a wonderful book about diversity and learning about others. "My mom told me that no two snowflakes are alike. And that people, families, and cultures are like that too."

This book looks at New Years celebrations from different cultures represented in a classroom, celebrating things that are similar and different between cultures. It touches on cultures all over the world, and is a celebration of culture, language, food, and traditions. The illustrations in this book are beautiful and match the stories and cultures.

This book should be in all schools and libraries and available to kids everywhere. Diversity is so important in our world, and teaching our kids from a young age that different is interesting, and that we can learn from each other, should be the foundation all our kids grow up with!

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!

Nicely done picture book showing readers how children around the world celebrate the new year. May encourage discussions on how they celebrate or how their ancestors may have celebrated.
