As a big fan of Nancy Silverton’s for many years I was thrilled to see an ARC of her latest tome. Many decades ago on a trip to California I fell in love with all the baked goods at her La Brea bakery. Since then I have purchased all of her previous books that have been lovingly used over many years. This latest book will definitely find a place on my sagging bookshelves- despite my telling myself that I don’t need anymore cookbooks. I give myself a pass for exceptional books as this. Experienced as well as novice bakers will find so many yummy treats to try. Measurements are given in metric & imperial

Thank you to Knopf, Pantheon, Vintage, and Anchor as well as NetGalley and Nancy Silverton for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is a great book for an advanced baker or maybe someone who is wanting to step up their game. Between the time I requested and read this arc, I learned more about Nancy from watching her as a judge on Tournament of Champions. I know her opinion in the industry is regarded highly and she is great at what she does.

For the recipies in the book I had almost everything I needed, except for maybe a couple of ingredients but that is something that can easily be remedied. You can tell there is a lot of love put in to this book and effort to make every recipe the best it can possibly be. I tried her apple crisp recipie this weekend and it was one of the most flavorful and delicious things to ever come out of my kitchen. Even my partner who is not huge on sweets couldn't stop talking about it. I am excited to keep trying out things in this book and absolutely reccomend it.

3.5 stars

I love that this isn’t all just sweets. There are quite a few savory options as well. That being said, most of these recipes are a little complicated or have too many ingredients.
So basically not for the beginner or average baker.
I really enjoyed all the tips in the beginning of the book, and all the little stories that went along with the recipes.
We tried the Parmesan and Pecorino scones (manageable ingredients and prep). They were delicious!

I adore Nancy Silverton and loved reading these recipes and her stories to go with them throughout.
I can't wait to own a copy of this book!

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

A true bakers bible, a must have for any baker’s kitchen! Anything you want to know or learn or try for the first time is in this book in plain terms, I’ve got to have a copy for myself. There’s so many recipes I want to try and I can’t wait to get started, reading this has made me excited to bake for the first time in a while.

Thank you to NetGalley and Knopf for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book sounded interesting, but I was a bit unimpressed with the recipes. While I enjoy baking, everything in this book seemed to be overly complicated for no apparent reason. From the sheer volume of ingredients to the several pages of baking steps for every single recipe, I just couldn't understand why everything was so complex. This book is not for an introductory baker. Even for an advanced baker, so many parts of this book seemed to have the mentality of more steps and ingredients automatically means it will be good when that isn't the case. Some of the best recipes I've made have been very simple. I did like that most of the recipes had accompanying pictures.
