Lucy's life has been a living nightmare since her sister Nicki vanished without a trace after meeting friends at a Dublin pub a year ago. As the third Irish woman to disappear under mysterious circumstances in as many years, Lucy's agony of not knowing what happened to her sister is overwhelming. Determined to find answers, she takes matters into her own hands.

Meanwhile, Angela longs to join An Garda Síochána, the Irish police force, but is currently working as a civilian paper-pusher in the Missing Persons Unit. With the official investigation into the missing women stalled, Angela starts to pull at a thread that could unravel the entire case, putting her own future in jeopardy.

As a nameless man drives through the night with his latest victim in the back seat, he plans to reveal everything to her, from the beginning. The victim soon realizes that what she doesn't know can hurt her.

Thank you to Catherine Ryan Howard and Blackstone Publishing for my copy of The Trap. The Trap is about a girl stranded on the road in the middle of the night, trying to get home. She takes a ride from a stranger, and as they drive she quickly changes from relief to fear. Can she trust this man? And if so, he isn’t the man she’s looking for. Lucy’s sister disappeared a year ago without anyone caring. Two more women are also missing, and one finally gets the attention of the police. They create Operation Tide to try to find the serial killer, but Lucy has other ideas and decides to take matters into her own hands.

Thoughts: This book was told from multiple perspectives including Lucy, who’s sister is missing, Angela, a woman who works for the Missing Person’s Unit, and an unnamed killer. It was classic Catherine Ryan Howard, with amazing writing and interesting characters. I didn’t necessarily care for Lucy, and thought she was a bit of a dichotomy. I didn’t like Angela either, as she was stubborn and self-centered. I did like the killer’s perspective and thought it was interesting to get into his mind.

This story really didn’t go anywhere, but it was still fun to read. The plot was really original and got quicker as it went along. I thought that the ending was absolutely unique, but did leave some things to be desired. It wasn’t a happy ending, and it also left the character’s off at an unsatisfying point of time. I love her books, but this wasn’t my favorite. I did like the references to The Nothing Man though! 3.5 stars

I immediately got hooked on this story. I read in one day. It was fast, suspenseful and the characters were easy to like. The ending is the only part that caught me off guard. I did not know if that was the way it was supposed to end, or if it was because it was not a finished product.

I was SO excited for another CRH book and I'm happy to report that she is back with a banger! Just as good as my other favorites by her- 56 Days and The Nothing Man!

Catherine Ryan Howard does it again! The first book of hers I read was 56 Days, and her new book, "The Trap" does not disappoint! The characters are well-developed, and the plot keeps you interested. I would highly recommend this book!

This Irish thriller doesn't disappoint when packing in the twists. What starts out as a classic missing girls pattern turns into layers that have you questioning who actually is the victim. I love the female-led detective work in this book, I also like what Howard did with the sister relationship in this story. Definitely a fun read.

Pretty cool read, this author always has some interesting stuff up her sleeve. The writing was gripping and made me want to keep reading at all times. Some parts of the plot fell flat for me, but otherwise I enjoyed it.

The characters, the setting, and the story work together to make this a cannot put down novel. This talented author has written a story that is fiction but reads like nonfiction. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Red herrings and secrets work together to keep the reader intrigued. Guessing doesn’t work. Enjoy.

Another hit from Catherine Ryan Howard. Loved this dark, thrilling, fast paced story. This is up there with The Nothing Man and 56 Days for me- definitely recommend!

I wanted to love this thriller. I loved her first two books and excitedly dtart her newest thriller and it is a disappointment. Womrn disappear and a sister us obsessed in finding g out where they are disappearing to and what is happening. Felt lime the plot want very clearly developed and no e of the characters really drew me in. I wasn't thrilled with this thriller. And was sadly happy to read the last page.

I just finished reading The Trap by Catherine Ryan Howard, and it was a chilling and unsettling mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat. Inspired by real-life disappearances in Ireland in the 90s, the story follows Lucy, who is desperate to find her missing sister, and Angela, a civilian paper-pusher in the Missing Persons Unit who is determined to break the case and become a member of the Irish police force.

The pacing of the novel was perfect, with the tension building slowly and steadily until the final explosive climax. The characters were well-developed and realistic, and I found myself invested in their individual journeys as they raced against time to catch the faceless killer.

What I appreciated most about this book was how it explored the darker aspects of human nature, and how far people are willing to go to get what they want. The nameless man who drives through the night with his latest victim is a truly terrifying character, and his backstory and motivations are revealed in a way that is both chilling and poignant.

Overall, The Trap was an excellent read that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a psychological edge. Catherine Ryan Howard is a talented writer, and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Love Catherine Ryan Howard and this book did not disappoint. As usual, intriguing characters and plenty of twists and turns. My only selfish gripe is the ending--I understand why she made the decision she did but I wanted more clarity. Like I said, selfish on my part! I am stillllll processing it. Thank you!

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

It’s been a year since Lucy’s sister, Nicki, disappeared in Dublin. Nicki is the third woman to disappear in as many years and with no clues or leads, Lucy decides to take the investigation into her own hands. Also involved in the search is Angela, a civilian working for the local police. Most of her time is spent collating and collecting data, but Angela longs to become a police officer, and at first she believes the information she’s uncovered about the missing women could be her entry into law enforcement, but it turns out that it could end her career before it ever began. I don’t know why Howard isn’t a household name, her books are some of the most exciting, tightly plotted books in the genre
