Earplug Erotica by Mike McCoy is a comic series of earplugs out in the world doing things that readers can interpret what is happening from their own imaginations. It is okay overall. I appreciate the idea and the creativity behind it but my brain just sees earplugs being earplugs in the world, so I did not find much humor in the book.

Thank you @Netgalley and @MikeMcCoy for the ARC.

This was weird and silly book! It contained a bunch of images of earplugs having sex. A quick laugh from a creative mind!

Overall, this short comic is quite funny. The main point is that it’s a earplugs who start going at it in the most random places, and it’s always so fast. I love how more earplugs keep showing up over and over as well. It’s just funny, and the drawing style is also pretty unique. It’s simple, but it all fits together in a very nice way.

A creative and funny comic about sexuality using earplugs instead of humans as the subjects. What more could you want?

This was so silly but I think, judging from the title, you have to know that when you go into it. I needed a chuckle and when this came across my titles page, I had to give it a shot. I'm not disappointed at all. It's quirky, fun, and creative.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC opportunity. It hit the mark.

Dirty in the absolute silliest way possible! Loved the quirkiness of it and the scenarios definitely had me chuckling!

Oh my gosh, this book immediately gave me Edward Gorey vibes. (If you haven't, check out the Amphigorey collections.)
Take some innocuous items, arrange them, rearrange them -- then spend more time hanging out with your friends who see something naughty in the new arrangements.
There were several different scenes telling entire stories -- using EARPLUGS. Hilarious.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

Not sure what the purpose of this book is and who it is meant to cater for. Its a book of short few page pictures of earplugs getting it on. Sounds as strange as the title and even more strange in reality because most of the situations wouldn't happen for humans, let alone earplugs.
If you really want to gift a humorous book, this wouldn't be the one I choose.

This was so odd but honestly hilariously wholesome. I realize that saying wholesome for erotica is not common but the idea that this book can be gender expansive It really fell through..

Book 136 of 200 ~ 2023

🌟🌟

Yes, I do give two star reviews.

I blame it on my curiosity, and boy, did it almost kill this cat.

I knew what I was getting into to a certain extent, but the fella took it 10 steps further. I am usually pretty open-minded, or so I like to think... but after a while, it came across as la,y and stupid.

To each their own I guess.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, @netgalley

Without its title, it's easy to wonder how a reader might interpret the images in Earplug Erotica by Mike McCoy. After all, aren't they just colorful shapes in a variety of positions? However, the title stands and your mind will easily interpret these images into hilariously bustling erotic encounters.

No words sully this humorous take on erotica.

You know what? This was fun. The title clearly states what it is, and it executes it well.

I like how they're all inherently genderless when you perceive them in the humany way. Anyone can insert themselves (hehehe) into the earplug characters. There was no added parts to them. They're just earplugs. As they should be.

Giving this 5 stars because too many boring people rated it 1 or 2 stars. Grow up. Get into earplug erotica like the rest of us.

If I stick my earplugs into my earholes am I getting fucked by my earplugs? Are they the dom or sub in this situation? Am I the dom as I'm using them for my own desires? Am I the sub because I desperately need them to fill me? 🤔

Well, I can say this.. I thought the illustrations were pretty.
You must, before viewing Earplug Erotica, send your mind straight to the gutter. Otherwise you won’t see the eroticness, (I made up that word.)
Here we have page after page of foam earplugs in various situations and positions. Some solo, some couples then there’s the full on earplug orgy.
I’ll give author, Mike McCoy a thumbs up for his uniqueness.
Strangest idea for a book ever!

Thank you to NetGalley and Santa Monica Press for access to Earplug Erotica by Mike McCoy in exchange for an honest review.

On this episode of “What was this author smoking when he came up with this idea?”, we explore the sexual exploits of the most humble personal protection device, the earplug. The wild earplug seems to get itself into rather crowded sexual scenarios in this book. Which begs the question, how to earplugs practice safe sex? How are they screening for STIs? If I found myself on a date with a rogue earplug, I think I would have quite high levels of anxiety after seeing what they get up to.

In all seriousness, this is a coffee table book. It’s good for a chuckle here and there and take about 2 minutes to flip through. Might be a fun White Elephant gift for your fun loving friend group.

I really didn't understand the point of this? It was not funny or entertaining, the drawings were very ordinary adn had nothing special and I'm honestly struggling to understand what the point was.

Ok. I am going to need you to hear me out! As soon as I stop laughing and can catch my breath I will explain why you absolutely have to go out and buy Earplug Erotica immediately. It is ear plugs in a variety of suggestive situations. And yes, the best thing I have read in quite awhile. The synopsis says that this book will say more about how you view the world than you would like to admit, and never has a more accurate statement existed. But like Y'all... Skydiving! As I sit here and write my review, I want to reread. I want to show everyone I know the pages and I want to be able to read this all over again for the first time. One thing is for sure, I need more of these. Erotic toothbrushes? Cups? The opportunities are endless and I need more right now.

5 stars

This was amusing if really strange, but I did like it. And it made me laugh. So I suppose it served its purpose

Earplug Erotica by Mike McCoy

Characters: Far too many earplugs

Plot: This book asks us the pivotal question “If earplugs had sex where would they do it? How would they do it?” The answer will astound you! On the beach, under the ocean, at the club. The sky's the limit… literally!

Thoughts: I truly admire the fact that this author had an idea and just went for it. The result was a short comic book with laughs in every chapter. I applaud his creativity.

I definitely was dying of laughter on each page. As it progressed it kept taking a turn for the non-expected. I was screaming when I saw the House Party and what it turned into. Maybe my humor was broken on this one but I thought it was hilarious every time there would be another earplug watching and then they all ended up joining in. The only thing that I personally would have liked is maybe a sentence of commentary or a little dialogue to make it funnier or maybe a thought bubble. Definitely enjoyable.

This was interesting to say the least. I'm not really sure if I liked it or not. It was a fun book but I'm not sure that I would be interested in reading more.
