Teatime for All

This was a wonderful little book that combined food, Christianity, and discipleship all at once.

I thought it was a really uplifting and fun book, with some great cozy moments and great words about faith.

I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys tea and/or a nice conversation.

4.8/5

In the beginning of this book, Sally Clarkson tells the reader to think about approaching this book as if she has invited you into her home for tea and a long chat. This is exactly what this book is like. The topics span from actual types of tea you might serve at a teatime with friends to stories of her missions work in Poland to insights on hospitality to favorite family recipes and more. All the subjects are loosely arranged around teatime and fellowship and discipleship, but they are so many and varied— much like a conversation turns about and grows and changes over time. If you are well read on the author, you won’t be surprised by anything here in this book. It will just feel like a long chat with an old friend. Originally, I thought the best way to take this book would be to read it as a hardback, it’s a beautiful book, but in listening to it being read by the author, it truly felt like I could be going into her home for tea. It felt so much more like a conversation over tea than a book that I find now, I might recommend listening to it over reading— it feels like a delightful visit with a dear friend, and I did enjoy every minute of tea with Sally.

Thanks to Dreamscape for the preview of the book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When the pandemic hit, Sally Clarkson could no longer invite women into her home to share the beloved fellowship she shared around tea and treats. Teatime Discipleship is her creative way of opening her home to all of those who read her beautifully illustrated book or listen to her comforting words in the audiobook.

She shares recipes, stories, prayers, and encourages the reader to step back from the chaos of life and focus on what really matters ... relationships, with God and those He has placed in our paths

The author does assume that it is the woman that makes her home beautiful and nurtures relationships which is not the case in every home but whomever provides the nurture, food and beauty in their home can find something helpful in this book.

I listened to the audiobook (3 hours and 28 minutes) and I thought I would really miss the beautiful illustrations of the physical book but her calming voice, mouth-watering food descriptions and supportive encouragement made the listening experience worthwhile.

Those who have followed Sally Clarkson and have read her books and listened to her podcast will not find much new in this at all but it would make a wonderful gift or a book you can go to as a gentle reminder of the wisdom and encouragement you have come to appreciate.

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the chance to listen to this audiobook in exchange for my honest thoughts.
