It takes courage to set a book in another country, not least because of the myriad codes and cues which may escape a non-national. Although there's a great deal of information available about bankers and criminals (or, indeed, criminal bankers) in Manhattan, Neuhaus's fantasies of what it might be like to be a female high-flyer are just that.
