StoneWater bear Yakov Stepyrev has been dreaming of a Psy since he was sixteen. But lately, those dreams have turned to nightmares with this woman violently dying and he is unable to help her. When he’s tasked to assist Theo Marshall with an investigation of a former rehabilitation Center, he knows she’s the woman in his dreams before he meets her.

Theo grew up under the abusive hand of her Councilor grandfather, torn from her twin Pax and used to perform horrible crimes. Now she comes face to face with a nightmare from her past, one she didn’t even realize was buried deep within her.

Resonance Surge is another wonderful story in the impressive Psy-Changeling series. Not only does it follow the romance of Yakov and Theo, but also follows Yakov’s twin, Pavel, and to a lesser extent, we find out what is happening with Pax and his Scarab Syndrome.

I enjoyed Theo and Yakov and thought they make a great pair. Although Yakov may have foreseen their connection, their bond is formed as the pair work side by side, trying to uncover the horrors of the forgotten Center. I love that each is accepting of the other, including all of their issues. They are at the right point in their lives to trust the other and open up and accept what the other offers. Their bond happens quickly, but it’s not insta-love.

I also enjoyed the culmination of Arwen and Pavel’s romance which is threaded throughout the past couple books. The moment Arwen finally accepts the mating bond was so lovely, it brought tears to my eyes. I enjoyed seeing the bear twins and their Psy mates all connect and have fun together.

Overall, I enjoyed Resonance Surge. I loved that the story doesn’t focus on the Scarab issues, but it is in the background a bit. It is a solid romance and standalone story, but it also provides more background on the Marshall family and the history of neurological manipulation, both of which I assume we will need to know for the coming confrontation with the Scarab Queen.

My Rating: B+

The new Psy-Changeling book is always the highlight of my summer and Resonance Surge was no exception! First, BEARS! We are back in the Stonewater Den for Yakov's story. Next, we get insight into a Psy family with a terrible history. If you read the previous books, you are aware of the monster that was Councilor Marshall Hyde. Well, now we have his granddaughter, Theo. As a gradient 2.7, she was a shame to the family and treated horribly. Now that her twin brother, Pax, has taken over the family, she is helping him clean up grandfather's messes. Unfortunately for her, this is bringing up some unexpected memories.

I adore the bears. They are cuddly and funny and just entertaining! It's the perfect yin to the Psy yang. Theo is interesting because she never was fully Silent. But, her emotional and physical abuse is profound, so she still has some traits of a cold, post silence Psy. Yakov's great grandfather was a Psy foreseer and Yakov has a bit of his talent. He has been dreaming of Theo since he was a teen, but his more recent dreams are of her violent, bloody death. As they work to unravel the horrific history of the "rehabilitation clinics" run by Theo's grandfather, they build a bond. Theo never feels deserving of affection, but that never stops a bear! I think that is why the bear/psy pairing works so well for me!

We continue the problems with the psy-net and the island, plus get an extra mating of Yakov's twin brother and Arwen Mercant and I just cannot get enough of this world!

The newest addition to Nalini Singh’s long-running Psy-Changeling Trinity series is less of a banger and more of a slow burn. A very, VERY slow burn, to be precise. In fact, it took me several days to finish this book and while I wouldn’t say I was bored exactly, I can’t really say I was riveted either. It was fine for the most part, with the action picking up steam (not THAT kind of steam) in the second half of the book. Speaking of steam, the book doesn’t contain much of one, just one rather tepid love scene that basically fades to black.

In fact, I’m going to be bold and say that the secondary characters in the book are much more fascinating to me. The two main characters, Yakov, a bear changeling, and Theodora, a Psy with a very dark and brutal backstory meet when Theo comes to Russia at the behest of her twin brother Pax, head of the powerful Marshall family. We have met both of these characters before but it’s been a while so my memory of the Marshall family is hazy at best. The family is full of venomous characters and somehow, Pax and Theo, despite being trained by their cruel and downright abusive grandfather, have managed to retain their humanity.

The romance between Yakov and Theo is what I would term instalove. Yakov, while a bear changeling, also has a foreseer Psy in his family tree and has basically been dreaming of Theo since he was young. Like literal, actual dreams. While the dreams start off as innocent and sweet, in current times, the dreams have become violent and deadly, resulting in Theo’s bloody demise. When he finally meets her, the attraction and connection is instantaneous. I’m so used to there being a push and pull between Psy and changeling love interests so the absence of that here kind of threw me. While Theo doesn’t have the decades of dream history that Yakov does, she does feel a connection and since her own Silence has always been faulty, she gives in pretty easily to his advances. There’s no reticence on her part, no need for Yakov to cajole her into giving into her feelings. There’s no real tension within the romantic development other than Theo having massive questions about her past and wondering if her past actions make her worthy of ever being happy.

Honestly, I don’t think the romance was interesting enough to require a full length book. Much of the book actually focuses on Theo’s past and the unknown parts of her backstory slowly being revealed, not just to us the reader but also to her. The romance could have been a novella were it not for the secondary romance between Yakov’s twin brother (yes, he’s also a twin) Pavel, and Psy empath Arwen Mercant of the illustrious Mercant family. They are already in an established relationship when this book starts but the few scenes we have with them are so fun and sweet and sexy, I really wish the book had focused more on them or at least, just split these two romances into two novellas because certainly, Arwen and Pavel are deserving of their own story. I also love the bear changelings and I wish we had met more of their pack and had more interactions between different members of their pack and spent more time in their den. I think one of the things I really love about this series overall is the sense of community and pack and found family and that seemed to be missing a bit from this particular book. Much of the book is just scenes between Yakov and Theo investigating what happened at the Psy rehabilitation center, the two of them kind of off in their own little bubble.

Nalini is brilliant at playing the long game but overall this story mainly focuses on Theo and her traumatic backstory while also featuring Theo’s twin brother Pax Marshall. Given the time spent on Pax, I have to assume the next book will be his, despite the fact that he is presumed to be dying of Scarab Syndrome (not a spoiler, this was mentioned in a previous book).

This book is definitely darker in terms of certain themes – there is healthcare abuse and toxic family relationships and a grandfather who takes psychotic pleasure in torturing his granddaughter (off page and in the past). Perhaps because of the darker themes addressed, the main romance between Theo and Yakov gets little in the way of a real emotional build-up. There is a lot of tenderness and sweetness and nurturing and caretaking happening here but the actual romance lacks tension and the physical build-up doesn’t give us the payoff after making us wait so long.

All in all, while this particular book wasn’t my favorite of the series, it did give us glimpses of several secondary characters I found very compelling and one I would love to see featured next in his own book.

Resonance Surge by Nalini Singh is the 7th book in the Psy Changeling Trinity series and we're back in Moscow for this one! Theo, the granddaughter of Marshall Hyde has always been dispensable when compared to her powerful twin, Pax who now suffers from Scarab Syndrome. Now that he's taken over their family he has discovered some problems and as he trusts her the most, he asks her to investigate a secretive center established by their (horrible)grandfather in Moscow. Yakov, a StoneWater bear is assigned to work with her on this and he's surprised to meet her because she's the girl of his dreams - literally 😂 because she's been in his dreams for years, but now they've turned into nightmares that feature her death😶

I love a Psy-Changeling pairing since they're always so much fun and there's nothing better than a mischievous bear shifter trying to get his Psy mate to give him a chance!😆 We actually have two pairs of couples in this one with Theo and Yakov, and also a secondary one with Yakov's twin Pavel and his E psy boyfriend - Arwen! It's been so much fun watching Pavel slowly woo Arwen over the course of the last few books so I'm glad they finally got together in this one!

I loved the sibling bonds between both pairs of twins and how they always had each other's backs through everything! Theo and Yakov's relationship development was fantastic too - with how patient and caring Yakov is. He gives her just the right amount of security and love that she needs! I loved the glimpses that we got about the pre-Silence period through the letters of Yakov and Pavel's grandfather to his family! They did a good job of showing how much thought was put into the choice of Silence and why it was done, but also how it fragmented families. This is what I love about this series because it shows every aspect of a conflicting decision. Nalini Singh is one of my favorite writers and she's always been talented at writing emotional stories with amazing characters!

Anyway, I loved this addition to the series and I'll stop gushing about this one now. I'm very excited for the next book in the series and I really hope it's Pax(I'm very eager for his story and the last time I felt this way was for Kaleb!). If you're looking for a PNR series with amazing characters and a unique and well developed world, give this one a chance! It's one of my all time favorite series!❣️✨

Family, the good, the bad, and the in-between is at the heart of Resonance Surge. I find Nalini Singh’s StoneWater bears oh-so-delightful so it was with great pleasure that I dove into the Stepyrev twins’ book.

The descendant of a powerful F-Psy, Yakov Stepyrev has dreamed of his mate for years…and now dreams of her blood. When the woman of his visions appears before him, Yakov is determined to change her fate. But Theodora Marshall isn’t one to make it easy on him. Theo has survived her abusive, powerful grandfather and in the aftermath of his death is determined to find answers about an unregistered Psy rehabilitation Center. What the two discover, I will leave readers to find out. The evil of some who rose to power under Silence is not to be underestimated. Each piece of the puzzle Theo and Yakov find leads to more and the picture they unearth is anything but pleasant.

As dark as some of the subject matter is, there is also plenty of light to be found in Resonance Surge. The bears like to be underestimated and sneakily play up their fun sides, which is always charming. And the romance between Yakov and Theo is at the center of the book, giving that edge of love and hope to overcome the darkness. Theo has only ever been able to trust her twin, Pax, and she’s hesitant to lean on him too much, afraid of being a drain. StoneWater assigns Yakov to assist her investigation and the handsome bear changeling quickly becomes someone she can depend on. Yakov gets under her defenses right away and she under his. Singh also dives into an ongoing romance that has been at the very edges of the Psy-Changeling Trinity series: that of Pavel Stepyrev and Arwen Mercant. The other Stepyrev twin and his oh-so-fashionable E are dancing around mating. Their relationship was so sweet I ached to see more of it and wish they’d had a bigger part of the story.

Resonance Surge mostly takes a breather from the larger overarching series plotlines, focusing instead on the romance and a mostly contained set of issues. I loved seeing more of the StoneWater bears; anytime spent with them is a good time. And for fans of the series there are appearances from a few other past heroes and heroines which is an added treat. Singh wraps up Theo and Yakov’s story in a satisfying manner, but also manages to put readers on tenterhooks with the ending, waiting to see what will happen next.

I loved this book! This book is why Nalini Singh is my favorite author. Her world-building is phenomenal. The depth, creativity, and emotionalism she exhibits in her writing draws me in every time. Resonance Surge continues the Psy-Changeling Series after the fall of Silence. It continues to show the decimation and joy that the Fall has created.

The main characters are Theo an incredibly strong, broken Psy and Yakov a loving, charismatic Bear shifter. They could not be more perfect for each other. The characters are well thought out and well rounded. They are so fascinating together. And, truth told, anytime the Bear changelings are brought into the mix it is my favorite thing. The Bear shifters are the most fun of any shifter group she has ever written.

Nalini Singh is the only author I know who can have me crying and laughing within the same paragraph. The emotion and depth she brings to these books is beautiful. Truly, Ain't no party, like a Bear party.

Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley for allowing me the ARC.

Theo is alone but for her brother. Yakov is surrounded by family at all times. But when his dream woman finds him can he keep her alive?
Resonance Surge is the latest installment in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling Trinity series. I loved returning to the deceptively fun loving bears. I loved getting to know Yakov better as he courts his Psy mate. He can feel and see the anger she barely hides and senses the silence that never took. But Theo loves deeply and is deeply protective. Can he convince her that he can protect her as well?
I loved the journey as Theo learned to accept help and hope and Yakov fought to change the future.

I've been a fan of Nalini Singh and her Psy-Changling series for a long time. Writing is not easy, especially when writing a series. Keeping the story fresh while incorporating a full cast of characters is a juggling act that I think Nalini is very good at.

This book is a little different from previous Psy-Changeling-Trinity books. We're back with the StoneWater Bears! Pavel and Yakov Stepyrev with their love interests Arwen Mercant and Theodora Marshall, respectively. Since the book features two couples, there is alternating POV. I like alternative POVs because we see the world from that character's perspective. We see other characters that add context to the current state of the world, especially since the creation of the island on the PsyNet created by Ivan Mercant (see Storm Echo). Due to having a F-Psy ancestor, Pavel and Yakov have heightened psychic senses. Since he was sixteen, Yakov has been dreaming of Theo, however, the dreams stopped. It was only until recently that he started to have dreams of an adult Theo and her subsequent death. It certainly doesn't help that there is a serial killer running around Moscow killing women with similar hair and coloring to Theo.

The Marshall Group was something I wondered about. Lead by Pax Marshall, following the assassination of Councilor Marshall Hyde, the Marshall Group is a nest of vipers despite their adherence to Silence. Pax Marshall, is presented as a typical Psy with Silent guards, but he cares for his twin sister, Theo. I appreciated the bond between brother and sister, especially since they're twins. Pax is waging battles on all fronts, within the family and in the business world. If that wasn't hard enough, he also has Scarab Syndrome. He's a ticking time bomb. He's mentioned throughout the book and has interactions with several characters, but the scene at the end of the book makes me nervous for the future of the Psy-Changeling universe.

Back to the main couples, the romance between Yakov and Theo was quickly established. The whiplash I got from how quickly this pair got together was something else. I thought their relationship progressed too fast, but at the same time, I understand that Yakov's "known" her for some time. The initial wariness between Yakov and Theo quickly turned into a tenuous partnership and genuine affection. Moving on to the other couple: in previous books, Arwen and Pavel have been dating, but in this book, it's established that same-sex mating bonds is possible (I cannot remember if same-sex mating bonds were previously established). Nalini has written many books and all of them have featured a male-female hetero main couple. It wasn't until recently that she wrote about the relations of same-sex couples (e.g. Aodhan and Illium) and even then, it focused more on the emotional aspect of their relationship. I assume Nalini Singh is cis-het so it makes sense for her to not delve too deeply into the sexual aspect of a same-sex couple's relationship. Her same-sex characters' interactions with each other portrays deep intimacy through other physical means, rather than just sex. Sex scenes that do occur on paper are generalized and focuses more on the emotional connection, rather than the physical.

The plot of this story was decent enough. Theo is investigating an unregistered rehabilitation Center established by her grandfather, Marshall Hyde. Little tidbits from other Psy-Changeling books portrayed Marshall Hyde as an incredibly cruel and sadistic Psy, despite the facade of Silence. We learn in this book that he funded several rehabilitation Centers to have a supply of guinea pigs for mind-altering experiments. Following his death and Pax's bid for control of the Marshall Group, the discovery of the disclosed and undisclosed rehab centers got the ball rolling as more and more of Marshall Hyde's depravity and cruelty is revealed. Overall, this book was a solid continuation of the Psy-Changeling universe.

By now, my love of Nalini Singh books is well known. Of course I was excited to read a new Psy-Changeling book and I think this one is very important to the overall Trinity storyline. In addition to returning to the bears, we also get insight into the Marshall family with Theo. And we also get a continuation of Pavel and Arwen's story. One of the reasons I like the original series a bit more than Trinity is we get to spend more time with the two main packs, DarkRiver and SnowDancer, in those books. However, now we're back with the StoneWater bears and I loved revisiting that rambunctious group. The twist of Yakov being a foreseer descendant and having seen Theo as his mate in his dreams is an interesting take. I liked the divergent from the childhood friends into lovers that Nalini Singh has done a few times now (Mine to Possess, Heart of Obsidian, Last Guard) but that still had a fated mates feel to it. I thought the chemistry between Yakov and Theo was great and really played into this book's strength. I don't think this is my favorite of the Trinity series (tied between Silver Silence and Wolf Rain) but it was an excellent continuation of the series and I'm excited to see where Nalini Singh takes us next!

Resonance Surge is the story of Theodora Marshall, a low-gradient Psy and granddaughter to former Councilor Marshall Hyde, and Yakov Stepyrev, of the StoneWater bear clan in Moscow. Yakov has been assigned the job of helping Theo investigate an unregistered "rehabilitation Center" that Theo's powerful twin Pax has traced back to Marshall Hyde. But in the days of Silence these centers were accepted, so why hide one? Naturally, Yakov doesn't trust Theo, even if his bear is sure there's something very special about her. After all, they've been having dreams about Theo for longer than they've known her.

Theo is under no illusions when it comes to her family. She knows they are terrible people and her grandfather was the worst of them all. What she isn't sure of is where she falls in the scheme of things. When her brother finds clues that make no sense, but seem to connect her to a hidden research center, she wants answers. I liked that Theo is willing to find those answers no matter what the cost. She accepts that the friendship she has developed with Yakov will be destroyed when they find the answers and considers the good times he shows her as 'stolen moments', but she never considers turning away. Yakov is her perfect balance, willing to accept her fierceness and remind her that sometimes it is needed to survive while teaching her how to play and enjoy life. I had to laugh every time Theo thought she knew what to expect thanks to her "research" on bears, but Yakov slid right past her defenses anyway. They really are a perfect match. And since Yakov is Pavel's twin, we are also treated to Pavel and Arwen (Silver's brother from Silver Silence) and some of their mating dance as well! I loved that we got to see into Arwen's mind, behind the confident exterior to the man trying to make sure he knew who he was before making the decision to fully commit to Pavel. And the flashbacks to some of Arwen's excuses not to date Pavel were priceless! So much better than "washing my hair".

Resonance Surge is another example of Nalini Singh's brilliance when it comes to worldbuilding. Having built Silence and what it allowed many Psy to become, then ended Silence, she now has her characters dealing with the aftermath. Things aren't simply "ok" in the fall of Silence. It isn't only the faltering NetMind (which plays very little role here) that the Psy need to deal with, it is questions like: what happened to the people who were tortured under Silence? In this case: what about the people who were "rehabilitated"? And, of course, what evils could be hidden inside accepted rehabilitation facilities? Singh knows how to put layers on top of layers to create characters and a world full of light and darkness, vibrancy and life, and keep the reader captured in the story well past the last page.

While Resonance Surge can be read as a standalone, you'll get more out of the world and its characters if you at least read the other Trinity books first. Plus they are all awesome, so you should read them anyway.

I mentioned in my Sunday post that I returned to school and literally have only been re-reading this series. I have favorite characters and so many side characters that I can’t wait until she writes their stories. I have loved this series from the beginning and this installation is no different. The world we are now in, is the post-Council world and the different races are working to save not just themselves but to come back from the brink the Psy have brought their people to. Once again the horrors of what was done to keep the few alive is finally being shared with the world. And it's a horror show.

Theo has spent her life fighting to survive the family she was brought up into, had she not been linked to her twin brother Pax the more powerful Psy she wouldn’t be here. Pavel a Stonewater Bear has some of the Psy talent he's inherited from his Grandfather which has given him dreams since his childhood and they all star Theo. Theo has come to Russia to find out just how far and deep into the Council structure did her Grandfather go, and how much is her family truly liable for what happened to the broken Psy who didn't meet the exacting standards of the Council & why was her name on partially deleted files?

The dance, the way the story is woven together, I was absorbed from the start, I loved seeing Arwen and the glimpses of the family including Silver and Valentin, There is so much in the story ad so much more we need. I absolutely loved the little sprinkling of intrigue we got at the club, I can’t wait to see more. I loved how they talked about the unique earthquakes (IYKYK) in the area.

These stories have been my comfort zone in the crazy world we live in currently and I can’t stop reading. There are a few moments where I had to stop and breathe because if I could jump into the book to go after some people, baby gear up. I would definably bring tissues, and be prepared as there are some triggering subject matter in the form of flashbacks. The fact that these people think they are the best of the best and not realizing that the very definition of a perfect Psy was a psychopath. So many people hurt because the Council lied and so many more in danger because the Scarab Queen would rather seize power than save their race. I can’t wait to see how this all comes out.

The way she ended the story I’m going to be annoyed for a whole year until we get the next installation because why??!!!!! I need it now!!! There were so many beautiful moments that made the book amazing to read, and I can’t wait to get my physical copy to display on my shelves. I will also be listening to the audiobook version because Angela Dawe has a way of narrating the story that is just so amazing, they bring the story to life.

Have you read this series yet my loves?? I picked it up because every time without fail whenever Sylvia Day is asked what books she recommends she always says Nalini, and I can say I have never enjoyed a recommendation more.

I loved this brutal romance. I find the StoneWater bears to be a crazy fun bunch of fierce changelings. Full disclosure, I went into this story completely blind. I did not read the blurb. I love Ms. Singh's storytelling so I like to go in cold to be surprised. Boy did this story surprise me and I do not believe reading the blurb ahead of time would have prepared me for this tale. I am rating it highly because it caused me to weep in sorrow.

The increasingly destabilizing psy net does not seem to be getting better. Each story in this series comes up with hope to fix the problem yet there continues to be so much devastation. How does one repair a structure that was created on a faulty premise? I am not sure. Still, the Psy are trying there best with the help of new found allies. Theodora Marshall of that Marshall family has been a hidden secret for years. Her grandfather was a terrible person and died way too easy. The cruelty shown to Theodora is off the charts. What she and her twin have is special and thankfully her disgusting depraved grandfather was selfish enough to keep Theodora around due to this connection.

I liked this double twin plot. With the bears twins Yakov and Pavel. Yakov with Theodora on the surface seem like an unlikely match yet they balance each other so well. They have a core strength and moral compass that perfectly sync up. Even though they have a twin that matches them like no other, it does seem as though Yakov and Theodora are soulmates. Their tentative relationship with the grumpy bear and the timid bookish analyst brings a cute imagery to mind. As we learn more about their past and experiences, I like both characters even more.

The abuse in this story is darker than usual for Ms. Singh. I am finding several authors I have enjoyed over the last two decades turning darker and darker in their story writing. I am not sure if this trend is due to how they are experiencing the world or something else. I find it a slightly disturbing pattern even if I appreciate and enjoy it. I tend to read and soak in the pain of darker material because it invokes more emotion in me. This story is a roller coaster ride of tumultuous feelings. I love it.

Ms. Singh creates a poignant romance built stronger under great pressure and loss. This romance is highly recommended to readers who revel in angst and sorrow.

This series has a long and complicated back story. You can start it here, but the most satisfying experience comes from reading the full series. This entrant into the Psy-Changeling world is the seventh in the Trinity story arch. This is an emotionally intense, suspensful read leavened by Yakov's humor. The heroine Theodora has a traumatic history, bear changeling Yakov is a seer determined to prevent her murder. I can never get enough of the sneaky, cuddly Russian bears.

Theo is another damaged psy with mysterious powers and Yakov is a happy-go-lucky bear who is assigned to help her investigate the mysterious psy medical centers where they sent the ones that didn't do Silence right to get brain wipes.

Generally, the Psy-Changeling pairings are my absolute favorite. But I've never been a fan of the Bears. Bear is forever Pooh to me so I have a hard time with seeing them as sexy beings 🫣 But it would have been fine except the story dragged. And I mean the pacing was so off it took me a whole week to get through the first half. The entire thing takes place over a few days, and it's mostly a bunch of conversations between Yakov and Theo about bears and changelings and stuff the reader already knows. There's zero chemistry and no sexy scenes until like 80% in lol. There are also a plethora of secondary characters that are mentioned or introduced which made the whole thing even more confusing. The overarching plot takes a back seat and we don't get much about that until almost the end and that's where things finally get interesting. Kaleb makes an appearance and the way one character can elevate this lukewarm story immediately just by the mention of his name... That's the power of good character development. Also, I love him as much as chocolate 🥹

This is probably my least favorite in the Trinity series. I miss being able to get invested in the characters before their books like in the OG series. We had the wolves and the cats and the Psy. And we didn't have a zillion stories about random relatives I don't care about. And even when I didn't care about the romance (looking at you Tangle of Need) I was still invested in the overarching plot. This time both of those things were so poorly played out that I checked out until my boo Kaleb appeared. The last chapter got really interesting and I'm looking forward to the next book. Let's hope the magic is recaptured because right now it feels like the series is losing steam.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts are my own.

Nalini Singh just does not miss. Another winning entry in her Psy-Changeling Trinity series. Singh has an unbelievable ability to write characters that readers immediately care about. At a certain point in a series a reader expects some of the magic to be gone, the plots to get stale -- this series delivers every time. The characters, continued world building, and pacing work harmoniously here to expand the series without diluting it. I am so please to have been given early access to this title -- I already ordered the hardcover for my personal collection. I just cannot recommend this series enough.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC! It was so nice to complete my relisten of the entire series and then be able to read this.

This is a Psy/bear novel, and we get two relationships out of this one. Pavel and Arwen are the side romance 😍 it's twinning books because Yakov and Theo are both twins! Ah, their journey was sweet and a little angsty, of course.

No spoilers, but pay attention to the chapter stories. (And if you understand and make the connection, please message me!)

I can't wait for y'all to get this in your hands, and then I'm able to listen to this book!

Nalini Singh continues the Psy Changeling Trinity with Resonance Surge in which Stonewater Bear Yakov pairs up with Theo Marshall, the long obscured sister of Pax Marshall, the head of a powerful and dark psy family. They are researching what happened at the Moscow center for psy rehabilitation Centre to those mind wiped there. Yakov has recognized Theo as his destined mate, but her dark memories are a barrier. Wonderful fantasy tale of romance and derring do.

I love when the bears come to town and you get two lovable bears with this one. I'm continue to be amazed, delighted, and intrigued with how the author continues to create new characters and takes readers on new adventures in this ever changing Psy-Changeling series. I've been vested since the beginning and now I have to wait another YEAR to read the next installment.

Resonance Surge by Nalini Singh is the 7th book in her Psy-Changeling Trinity series. As I have noted many times, Nalini Singh continues to be one of my musts read go to authors, always loving her Pys-Changeling and Guild Hunter series. She never fails to give us fantastic stories, great couples and fabulous secondary characters; not to mention her amazing ability to make sure her continued world building is totally flawless.
We meet Theodora (Theo) Marshall, our heroine, who has been tortured as a young child, by her grandfather, who was evil; since she was considered a low- gradient Psy. Theo has a twin brother, Pax, who with the current death of Marshall Hyde (the grandfather who separated them), assumes control of the Marshall family. Many years had passed when Pax and Theo were separated, but now that Pax is in charge, he only trusts his twin, who is assigned to check out an unregistered rehabilitation center that their grandfather controlled, and work with the Stonewater clan to discover who is still controlling the center.

Yakov Stepyrev, our hero, has had nightmares since he was young, and now recently the nightmares have come back. Yakov (Yasha) has been assigned by Valentin (Stonewater leader), to meet Theo Marshall, and work with her to find the answers of who is killing innocent people, as well as who is controlling the center, that was created by the deceased Marshall Hyde. When Yasha meets Theo, he is shocked to see that she is the woman in his nightmares, and his inner bear knows she is their mate. Yasha is determined to protect Theo, as well as prove to her that she is not a monster (since her grandfather did horrible things).

Yasha and Theo arrive at the center compound, searching for clues as who is behind the what is still happening at the center. Theo cannot remember much of what the experiments her grandfather did to her, and when she sees the site, she has a panic attack, which brings forth rages in her body. Yasha finds a way to help her out of the attack, and in a short time, as they are always together, the attraction between is very strong; Theo begins to trust Yasha, especially since their chemistry and bond were amazing..

Pavel (Yakov’s twin ) and Arwen Mercant have been together over a few books, and their relationship has made them a great couple. Arwen, being an E psy and the heart of the Mercant family, plays a big part in helping Theo overcome her panic attacks and open her heart to Yasha. I really like Pavel and Arwen together. Pax, Theo’s twin, is slowly feeling his life ending soon, due to the Scarab Syndrome; which I hope will resolve in the next book.

What follows is an exciting, suspenseful, intriguing and action-packed story, with me unable to put the book down. Resonance Surge was an emotional love story between Yasha and Theo, who was damaged, with a bond that will bring them totally together. The romance between them was wonderful and I love how the Stonewater bears accepted Theo into their clan. I really enjoyed Yakov and Theo’s story. I also loved seeing many of our previous heroes, such as, Valentine, Silver, Kaleb, Ena, Pavel, Arden, and the rest of the Stonewater Bears.

Nalini Singh once again gives us another wonderful story in Resonance Surge, which was so very well written by Nalini Singh, which has always been the norm. She never fails to captivate me with her engaging creative stories, fantastic plots, and seamless world building; wonderful couples in each and every story; super secondary characters and fantastic world-building. I loved every moment of Resonance Surge. As I have noted many times, if you have not read Nalini Singh, you are missing a gem of an author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Pub for this earc

I actually enjoyed this one. I’ve been reading these books for a long time and this one actually felt like the original ones. It had the mystery, the love and the ending that leaves you with all the questions.

I liked Yakov and Theo. They were adorable. Yes, it was insta love but Yakov also kind of waited for her for years so I let it pass. It was also easier to believe in the connection because Theo was never really Silent.

The mystery was simple but also kind of went with “how many can of worms one family have?” I am curious to see if the events of this book will affect future stories.

One thing I couldn’t understand is why we needed secondary romance with Pavel and Arwen. They only got a few chapters and it didn’t really add anything to the story. They probably could have had their own little novella instead.

Overall cute bear romance that just made me hungry for all the pastries.
