This kept me on my toes! Just when I thought the story couldn’t get any more action packed the story just kept going and building. Nix and Maxim’s continued test of strength, love, and sacrifice was told through this sequel and I’ve never wanted two characters to have more of a happy ending than these two. This story was so much more than any other romance. It was action, survival, and advocacy for missing indigenous women all poured into these two books. Mrs. Kennedy never fails to make me spill out every emotion under the sun with an amazing story.

A great ending to this series. I'm very happy things worked out the way they did for the couple. I did find myself growing kind of bored during the first half as it felt like it dragged on a bit for some reason but it quickly picked up after a twist I did not see coming. Overall I really enjoyed this though!

I was so thankful to be approved for book 2 of this series when book 1 left off on such a cliffhanger. I was worried this one wouldn’t be as good as the first but I honestly enjoyed this one more.

We get the rest of Lennix and Maxim’s story which is just as beautiful as the beginning. Sprinkled with tragedy and heartbreak, they both continue to shine as individuals but also together. The forbidden romance feel makes their interactions even hotter this time around the added element of suspense made up for the political story line. I didn’t love how there was quite a bit of that in this book but I know that it helped build to the ending.

Kennedy Ryan has a way of sweeping you off your feet and impressing you all at once. She is an author that I cannot wait to read more of her books. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long.

👀 Still hoping to get my hands on these gorgeous covers for my shelves… 👀

I love a great Kennedy Ryan book! This was a great follow up to The Kingmaker. The Rebel King was filled with so much more story for Lennix and Maxim than I could’ve expected. Between Lennix dealing with everything that happened when she was kidnapped and Maxim later dealing with his brother’s death and eventually running for president, they have plenty to deal with on their plates. When you add in keeping their relationship a secret, it makes for a lot of added stress that they must learn to handle together. Kennedy Ryan, thank you for a perfect ending to a great duology for Lennix and Maxim! 5 Stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’d also like to thank the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

4.5⭐️
The Rebel King picks up right where The Kingmaker leaves off. The second book in the duet is an epic conclusion. My emotions were all over the place. Ms. Ryan you really went there and did that to one of my favorite side characters. I’m mad at you. Anywho, Maxim Cade and Lennix Hunter’s story was beautiful. They went through so much and conquered it all! They are the ultimate power couple! I’m sad to be finished with their story. I absolutely loved that KR wrote a book where the MFC is a Native American, one of the most underrepresented groups in the romance genre!

Thank you to Bloom Books and Netgalley for giving me a copy of the ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series but there was just something missing with this one. This simultaneous managed to feel both rushed and super slow in my opinion (not sure how!). I really wanted to love it as much as book one but I feel like Lennix was no longer the badass that I loved in the first book and most of the time she was either getting spicy with Maxim (they barely had a conversation without it being a spicy scene), or facilitating his political career.

Really wanted to love this but overall it just lost the spark that the first book had for me! Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

I loved this series. Both books were fantastic. I had moments where I felt like Maxim was too possessive, but it also felt like it was always addressed as such, and he always made it very clear that Lennix's passion and free spirit were what made her who he loved.

It was pretty heartbreaking at parts, but that always seems to draw me in more.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

I don't know how she did it but Kennedy blew this book out of the water! It's not very often that I love a second book more than the first! This book took me on many twists and turns. It was gut-wrenching, sad, hopeful and so achingly romantic!

Lennix and Maxim's love was so incredibly beautiful and all-consuming. It hurt my heart sometimes to read about how badly they leaned on each other and how much easier it was for them to breathe when the other was near. Kennedy is such a beautiful storyteller; you could honestly feel how heartbroken these characters were at times, or how in love they were and you could even feel the anger they would feel.

I am sad that I have to say goodbye to these characters. It's hard to try and put into words how this story and these characters made me feel. I highly recommend this book.

I devoured this book once I had this ARC. After the cliffhanger the fist book ended on, I was desperate to find out what happened. The Rebel King put me through the wringer. I LOVED the suspense element of this book. It made me not ever want to put it down because I was always dying to see what happened next. And all the relationships between all the characters were amazing. I cried ugly tears while reading and I’m sure my husband thought I was going crazy. As always, Kennedy Ryan made me feel so many emotions. Everything that she writes is so powerful and meaningful to me. She writes with purpose and I love every second of it even when it is wrenching my heart from my chest. I wholeheartedly recommend these books to everyone!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

I just finished Rebel King… OMG! Kennedy Ryan just gave us a masterpiece! I had heard about this duet a few years ago and was told I must read it, It was forever on my TBR, but I never got to it until now. This duet was wonderful. Great twists, heartbreaking loss, political intrigue, and social commentary that is relevant to what is happening in the US today. This book pick up from the shocking cliffhanger in The Kingmaker. Lennix was in peril and Maxim was driven to save her. This plot point continued throughout the book, and made for an exciting end to their story. Lennix and Maxim are such a wonderful couple and their love story was amazing. The plot and side stories were engaging and made this book impossible to put down. Kennedy Ryan’s conclusion to this amazing story was outstanding and is indeed a MUST READ! I gave this book 5 stars. Actually, I gave both books in this duet 5 Stars, and they will be on my Top 5 list for 2023.

Firstly, I wanted to say thank you so much to Netgalley, and I presume Kennedy Ryan's team for not only allowing me to read an ARC of the re-release of 'The Kingmaker', but also the masterpiece that is 'The Rebel King'. Going into reading this, I was very excited and anxious considering the intense cliffhanger we were left with 'The Kingmaker' - I genuinely thought my Kindle glitched and that there was still more. Nope, it was just a good ol' cliffhanger. Additionally, I was a little apprehensive to be completely honest. I didn't know how Kennedy could possibly top 'The Kingmaker', but wow! I would love to know how Kennedy managed to obliterate my heart, but it back together again and then repeated that process a good couple of times. I would also like to know that despite the absolute heartbreak and emotional turmoil I had been subjected to, I still managed to ADORE this entire book. Also, if anyone could please tell me where I can find a Maxim "King" Cade please do let me know! This new Bloom edition also has an extended epilogue that I didn't know I needed until I read it. If you've not read this yet, do yourself a favour and DO IT! Ok, class dismissed :) xx

The Rebel King is a second book in a series, I would recommend reading the first book to set up familiarity with the characters. I haven’t read the previous book but each character felt unique. I liked the depth and the richness of how individualistic everyone was. From page one, Lennix really grabbed my attention.

As the reader I really felt like the author put her characters through the wringer. The endured hard challenged but were able to maintain perspective in a difficult time. My favorite character was Grim, security man exceptionaire. I felt like Grim a was a source of grounding in the upheaval of the character’s lives.

There was also a good level of spice and that did not disappoint :)

I was provided with this NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I would rate this a 3 out of 5. I had a harder time jumping into book 2 without context. But it was well written and thought out.

Wow, so this book was definitely going for an let's trigger every emotion we can reach type of book. Overall, I enjoyed the series. The only thing that infuriated me was Lennix and Maxim inability to just listen to each other. They are very very good at communicating, and voicing their issues, but they didn't always listen or react in a way I would've hoped after everything they went through during this book. Again, I felt more of their lust than I did their love and I just need more moment where I could feel like love.

This was an awesome follow up to The Kingmaker. Every girl wants a man like Maxim who will burn the world down just to get them back. The two main characters went through so much to get to their happy ending but they finally got there. Whew! I loved this book, devoured it in one day.

I am SO glad I got the opportunity to read this one after reading The Kingmaker. I think I loved this one even more than the last. Kennedy Ryan blows me away with her writing everytime. Even with a story like The Rebel King, where the plot itself could be considered a bit outrageous, she finds a way to make me really feel the emotions in storylines that are so unrelatable (a kidnapping, assassinations, running for President as an independent?! but then I remember that I was a huge Scandal fan so it tracks).

I absolutely love Lennix and her finding her power as she continues to grow, and giving herself the time and space to process what she wants for herself and how she can also fit that into her life with Maxim.
Maxim can be an alpha male but I love that Lennix doesn't back down from him, when normally FMC's bow to what the man wants with a character like Maxim.

I was truly heartbroken for Owen's story, especially for Millie. I'd love to follow a story about her, even though I know that's not likely.

Thank you to Sourcebooks and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

We know Kennedy Ryan can write and I appreciate her thorough research on the native American community as well as political topic. This second book directly dive down into the cliffhanger that was left off.

I gave 5 stars on the first book since I really love that one. BUT…. this book? I was actually feeling kinda annoyed and bored reading it. How do we end up here? There’s a lot of things going on and It’s all over the place. The second book definitely heavier on the political issues, it felt like an info dump. I was also put off by the attitude of Lennix, as much as I’m cheering on a strong headed heroine, Lennix was kind of annoying. I mean seriously… would it be soooo bad to marry a guy that you love, supporting your cause and dreams? and to think that they are a professional but chose to keep their relationship secret? I mean how stupid is that sound? I can see how it will end up from miles away. smh.
And the romantic side from this book? I mean where is the conversation? everytime they are together then there will be spice in there.

The only good thing about this book is the important issues that got highlighted about the Native American community. The presidential issues? oh please don’t get me started on that one…….

The conclusion to Lennix and Maxim's story was everything I wanted and I am heartbroken but healed all at the same time. You know when you know something is coming in a book but you talk yourself out of it like noo.... the author would not do that do us.... and then it happens and you are mad that they lulled you into that small window of trusting them. Yeah that definitely happens in this book. Still the writing is supreme, the love story span's decades and ends up victorious through all of the struggles is epic.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

This book picks up right where the first one left us with a cliffhanger. This book offers a little bit of everything; politics, activism, romance, spice. This was a great conclusion to the series and left me feeling complete. The characters were well developed and the plot moved pretty quickly.

Definitely would recommend the series
4.5/5 stars
