I am not sure how I feel about this book. I bought the audiobook as I have loved this series and I love the narrator so I always buy the audiobook. This time, however, I feel that this book should have been read…which I did for the last 20%

There are quite a lot of characters this time and some have similar names or links, and I got confused. Luckily I had the ebook so I could go back over it but I am still not sure if I entirely got everything.

Then! We get to the 80% and from then on, I am a wreck. I am sobbing. This book is cruel, so goddamn cruel. I can’t even tell you why but this series is going to get tough and I don’t think I am ready for what may come next. I might do a Joey and put the book in the freezer because right now Lisa has broken me.

The storyline was interesting, I just wished that I had read all of the book apart from the last 20%. That bit was explosive and shocking, despite feeling I didn’t really know what was going on. The revelations and realisation for a character were tough to read, life really is like a box of chocolates, as I wasn’t expecting this.

It was great to see more of Anya and learn about her and her background. That was not an easy read!! In fact, it was horrifying! It is also quite worrying how one family has so much influence over a town!!!!!!!!! *shiver* I was really concerned for her, however, with the introduction of new characters, I do wonder if any of them may come back again…

It definitely had me hooked as I flew the last bits. A sign of a great author! I just want Lisa to go back and delete what she’s done and change it, I mean can we arrange for that??????

Book 17 and it is still fresh and an enthralling read. So much to keep you on your toes and it gives you a family you want to keep wrapped up in cotton wool. Plus I think Josie deserves another holiday LOL

Lisa Regan, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book. I’m not giving away anything. But there were parts of this one that just about broke me. I had to go get the Kleenex.

You’d think a series might drag after five or six books. Ten, surely. Not so with Detective Josie Quinn. Lisa Regan keeps her foot on the gas and keeps writing stories that keep me hanging on the edge of my seat. When I get my hands on each new book in the series, I tear through it in twenty-four hours or less. They’re that good.

In each new story, we learn more about someone’s history. Often it’s Josie. In this case, we learn more about medical examiner Dr. Anya Feist. She was the victim of an abusive husband, and when Sharon Eddy’s autopsy reveals a brand on her hip identical to the one Anya’s ex-husband Vince gave her, it really rocks Anya’s world. Is Vince now a killer?

Josie, Noah, and the team have to cross jurisdictional lines to tee it up with Vince and his family. They’ve got to work with Sheriff Cyrus Grey, as they’re in his backyard, and he often seems more intent on hindering their investigation than helping it. Why?

The story moves fast and keeps you hooked the whole time. There’s more than one dead body, more than one brand, more than one suspect, and hurdles at every turn. We also get to see Josie working with twin sister Trinity, as Trinity is approaching the same set of facts from a different angle for her show.

And there’s the plot twist that had me absolutely gobsmacked and sobbing.

Tension, suspects aplenty, clues and red herrings, and a team that’s really a family to each other. Lisa Regan brings us another masterwork with Close Her Eyes. Five big ol’ stars from me. How long do I have to wait for book eighteen?!

Close her Eyes is a well written thriller. I enjoyed the plot and character dynamics. I received an advance ebook from Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.

I’m so happy to see that Lisa Regan has the phenomenal ability to continue to write some of the best mystery novels out there. It does make me a bit envious that she writes so well and freshly as she sends #17, Close Her Eyes, out to readership. I can’t recall what got me started on the Jose Quinn series, maybe Kindle Unlimited, I’m not sure, but still glad that I found my way to her and the entire crew.

Close Her Eyes gives credence to the “what a tangled web we weave” platitude. When a brand shows up on the hip of a murder victim in Josie’s case, we subsequently learn that the same brand is on the hip of the town’s medical examiner, a mark made by her ex-husband (still living in a nearby town). Instant suspect, but is it as simple as that? Not even close. A second body turns up and both may be related to another murder from long ago.

Full of twists, turns and unexpected outcomes, #17 is quintesential Lisa Regan. Lisa can be depended on for excellent quality story-telling and viable character building. The entire team is hard at work in this book, which makes it an even more a well-rounded enjoyable book. I’m already keeping my eyes peeled for word of #18. Is it too soon? Maybe for me, but I bet Lisa is already working on it for us.

Well, this is just cram-packed with all kinds of stuff. This is an action-packed story that ranges from the "WHHHHHYYYYY" to the didn't see that coming, and I loved every second of it. As usual the cast is amazing and make you feel like part of the group. I love this series and cannot wait for the next installment.

Happy pub day once again to the one and only @lisareganauthor!! 𝑪𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒚𝒆𝒔, book 17 (SEVENTEEN!🤩) in the Josie Quinn series is OUT TODAY!

And as usual, Regan does 𝑛𝑜𝑡 disappoint! This one brought out some emotions for sure, and I’m so impressed by the level of intricacies built into this series with every single book. Each is binge-worthy in its own right and without fail, I find myself so immersed in Josie’s world that I never want it to end.

Whether you pick up this series at book 1 or 17, Regan’s crime thriller novels are more than worthy of real estate space on your shelves (take it from me, this lady takes up an entire shelf in my library 😜).

Thank you kindly to NetGalley and Bookouture for the gifted eARC!

Close Her Eyes by Lisa Regan  is the 17th in the Detective Josie Quinn series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background:    (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Detective Josie Quinn has had a rough life,  and she still grieves the loss of her beloved grandmother, who was the only one she could rely on. As a baby, Josie had been kidnapped, and passed off as another woman's child.  Recently she has found her real parents, as well as her twin sister - news reporter Trinity Payne,  and her brother Patrick.   She works with the Denton Police Department, and her team consists of Detective Noah Fraley (her husband), Detective Gretchen Palmer, and Detective Finn Mettner (who is dating Press Secretary Amber Watts).  Their boss is Chief Bob Chitwood, and their Medical Examiner is Dr. Anya Feist.

My Synopsis:    (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Nineteen year-old Sharon Eddy is found dead, beside Kettlewell Creek, not far from the animal hospital where she works.  Sharon's grandmother, who raised her, is devastated.

The autopsy shows she was strangled.  But more menacing is the brand on her hip - identical to one on Dr. Anya Feist's, the Medical Examiner, who received hers from her abusive husband Vance Hadlee, ten years ago.

The same horseshoe brand with an arrow through it is on both women, but there doesn't seem to be any connection between Anya's ex-husband and Sharon Eddy.  When another woman is found with the same tattoo,  things start to add up, but in a rather perplexing way.

Josie and the team will fight to ensure Anya's safety, and to put the culprit in jail, but not before losing one of their own.

My Opinions:
Although this could easily be read as a stand-alone novel, knowing the characters back-grounds is always important, so I really recommend that the books be read in order.

I had actually guessed the perpetrators early on, but it certainly didn't diminish the urgency to keep reading.  The plot was really good, and I loved Anya's storyline, although I don't feel it was finished...maybe in a future book?  Another piece that could have been finished was a blurb about Sharon's grandmother.  The plot touched on domestic violence, as well as foster children.  Both were handled very sensitively.

The last couple books, including this one, seemed really long, although I don't really know why.  There was a fair amount of action, and the pace was good, but it still seemed like a long book.

Anyway, the book was really good, but I hope the author isn't planning on continuing the fast pace of her releases.  3 or 4 a year is too much, and as much as I am looking forward to the next in the series, I can do with a break.

An intriguing read with red herrings galore
So many links lead to even more.
But who is the perpetrator and why
Did so many innocents have to die?

I really enjoy Josie and the relationships in the team
Nothing is ever quite as it would initially seem.
The personal flaws that are acknowledged, too,
Make them more realistic in what they do.

This time reveals events from Anya's past
What happened and how she escaped at last.
However there are other links to their latest case
And what happened then and now are taking place.

Mind you something in this one was extra bad,
Leaving me - and the team - reeling and feeling sad.
Another intriguing case with surprises galore
As Josie and the team the clues explore.

A great addition to this enthralling series I declare
I can't wait to read more to see how they fare!
For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Book 17 in the Detective Josie Quinn Series and she is up against a sadistic killer. Well written and brilliantly plotted this was a real page turner and although it works well as a stand-alone it’s a great series so go for it! Josie’s twin sister, journalist/TV presenter Trinity is staying with her following a potential story for her true life crime series. Little do they know their work lives are about to collide.

Briefly, Josie is called to the scene of a young woman’s body found dead next to a creek. The autopsy finds a mark on her body - she has been branded with a cattle iron. But Josie is shocked when Medical Examiner Anya Feist lifts her top to show a similar brand on her body. Explaining how she received the brand Anya told Josie that her former husband Vance Hadlee had marked her when she said she was leaving him. Then a second body is found, killed and branded. Can Josie and her colleagues find the killer before there are more deaths?

There were so many red herrings I was constantly changing my mind about who the killer was. This was very enjoyable, plenty of suspense, fast paced, with some great characters; and, especially for regular readers of the series, a big shock awaits. A well written police procedural, exciting, intense and at times sad and moving it’s a great read.

Don't close your eyes while reading this book, you do not want to miss a thing!

Close Her Eyes is another gripping and thrilling addition to the Detective Josie Quinn Series! I am always excited when I see that there is another book coming out! This is one of my favorite series and I love how Lisa Regan provides the backstory of a character in each of her books. In this book it is medical examiner, Anya Feist!

The team have their hands full in this book when Nineteen-year-old Sharon Eddy's body is found lying near Kettlewell Creek. The scene does not look right, and Josie doesn't have much to go on until she meets with Dr. Anya Feist who performed the autopsy. Sharon had been branded on her hip with a cattle brand, and a very rattled, Dr. Feist reveals that she has the same exact brand on her hip. A brand that her abusive c and controlling ex-husband, gave her.

As the investigation looks at Anya's ex-husband, Vance Hadlee, another body is found with the same brand on her hip. Knowing that time is of the essence, Josie, and the rest of her team, throw themselves into the investigation, unwilling to stop until they have a killer in custody.

As with the other books in this series, this book was well written, gripping, and shocking. The whole gang is in this book, including Josie's twin sister, Trinity, who is an investigative journalist.

This book had me doing my own super sleuthing along with the team. Luckily, they did a better job solving the case than I did. There were parts in this book where I cheered them on and parts where my heart ached. I loved being along as a silent observer as the team did what they do best, even when their investigation led them to work with another police jurisdiction.

Lisa Regan is a fast writer, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Gripping, thrilling, shocking and well written.

Close Her Eyes is books 17 in the Detective Josie Quinn series which is a gift to mystery fans everywhere! If you are new to the Josie Quinn series you can jump right in and be happy reading Close Her Eyes, but it's a bit more meaningful if you've been reading all along. Close Her Eyes starts with Josie at home enjoying her sister's visit. Trinity and Drake are visiting and staying with Josie and Noah as Trinity prepares for a new show about a cold case. As they sit down to watch a movie, Josie gets called to a scene where a body has been found. Josie's on call and rushes out of the house to the scene. A body of a young woman has been found beside a creek. There are very few clues at the scene, the girl is nineteen, and she had no enemies! Sharon Eddy, the victim, lived with her grandmother and worked at the local animal hospital. An autopsy will be done to find out cause of death.

The next day Josie gets a call from Anya Feist, the medical examiner. She wants Josie to come to the morgue as soon as possible. Something is wrong as Anya doesn't normally call Josie to the morgue. Anya found that Sharon had been burned on her left hip with a cattle brand. It was a horseshoe with an arrow through it. Anya is shaken and upset. She begins to pull up her top to show Josie the same exact cattle brand on her hip. Josie and Anya are close, but neither one likes talking about their past. Anya was married to a bad man when she was young and ten years ago she left that life behind. Her ex-husband, Vance Hadlee, still lives In Bly on his family farm. That's a couple of towns over from where Josie and Anya work. Josie can't find any connection between Vance and the victim.

As the investigation progresses, Trinity's cold case might actually be linked to Josie's current case. Trinity shares the file from the cold case with Josie and they talk through what they know. Another body of a young woman is found and she has the same cattle brand that Sharon, the first victim, had. Who is doing this and why? The police in Bly don't seem at all helpful because the Hadlee's pretty much run the town and get favors from everyone. The father is a menace, but he's had a stroke and doesn't seem as dangerous as he was before. Vance has never gotten over Anya leaving him and still calls her his wife! They've been divorced for 10 years! This family has a lot to hide, but are they murderers of young girls? As Josie and the team get closer to the killer, things get dangerous for them! Someone doesn't want them to uncover the truth and will do anything to prevent it!

This is another Josie Quinn book that you simply can't put down. Trying to solve the mystery with so many possibilities will keep you flipping the pages at record speed. There are some very tense parts for fans of the series and you will definitely shed some tears. Lisa Regan has outdone herself with Close Her Eyes! I rate the book 5 stars and give it my highest recommendation! As always, I look forward to the next book in the Josie Quinn seriesI. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Close Her Eyes in exchange for a fair review!'#CloseHerEyes

Sharon Eddy, nineteen, has been murdered. Detective Josie Quinn is pulled into the case and soon learns that the murder is connected to another case from years ago that took place in another county. There are other connections, and these involve her twin sister Trinity’s possible journalistic story, and even the medical examiner, Anya, who over the years has become a friend to Josie.

With the body recently found, and the long ago case resurfacing, Josie, her husband Noah, and others on their team are forced to work with an officer from another town, and at first they find more questions than answers.

In a lot of ways this case really starts with Anya and traces back to her previously abusive marriage. Her then husband left a permanent brand on her that Anya discovers on the recent murder victim. The connection is undeniable and this not only shakes Anya to her core, but also Josie, Noah, Mettner and others on the team. One of the biggest answers they are seeking is why is there a ten-year gap between the crimes, and while the suspect might seem obvious, what ties these crimes together.

Considering that things go beyond Anya and her disturbing past, Josie is also looking into what brings Trinity into these cases and how the past and present are colliding. With breakneck speed, the shocking story begins to unfold. Most of it is beyond tragic and the sense of loss for all concerned was palpable. Lisa Regan has kept this series alive and powerful, making this as well as the previous sixteen titles incredible reads, reads that kept my heart in my throat and much more.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

What an amazing story!

Josie is called to a crime scene where a young woman is found with no apparent injuries. It isn't until the medical examiner, Anya Feist, calls her to come in, that we find out she was indeed murdered, but that there is also a connection to Anya that must be investigated. As more bodies are discovered, the list of suspects grows, as does the connection to Anya and her past.

This book might be my favorite of the series. I probably say that about every book, but it's still true. This was just written so well, that I didn't even realize a few hours had gone by as I was reading the last chapter. I'm so invested in all these characters. Once a series exceeds a certain amount of books, I usually lose interest. Typically it's because a new book only releases once, maybe twice a year. As someone who reads a book a day, it's easy to forget details and easy to lose interest, but I never lose interest in this series. So well written, easy to follow along with and enough suspense to keep the book, or in my case, the kindle, in my hands until the last page.

Lisa Regan - my go-to thriller author! She can absolutely blow my mind with every page turn and each new book brings us another head-scratching puzzle to solve, with Josie Quinn and the Denton PD team.

Close Her Eyes is so different from most of her other Josie Quinn novels. It didn’t quite have the same feeling, had a little bit less of the team camaraderie and closeness like I felt with most of the others, but Josie and Mett did work together a lot on this one, and we had a great visit and interaction with her sister Trinity due to filming her show nearby (and, strangely, some overlap on that front).

This case was very personal, with a tie to M.E. Anya, right from the very beginning, and the team is extra involved in tracking down the suspects in case her ex is the one, since she has a similarity to the new victim (a terrifying brand on the skin). The whole case and book is very tense, and a lot darker than the rest of the series, with so many things hitting closer to home this time around… and make sure you give yourself plenty of reading time because getting towards the end you will have more reason than usual that you can’t put this book down.

I know Lisa is working on (I think she mentioned earlier today being done a draft) the next book, and now I’m desperate to know how we get from where this one ends to anywhere beyond! I’m still in shock about a major, unmentionable event that happened!

This is another great Josie Quinn recommendation for all Lisa Regan fans, and all thriller fans out there. This particular book within the series could be read as standalone, unlike most of the others, so even new readers could pick up here and not need backstory on the characters.

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley and Bookouture, and this is my honest feedback.

When Detective Josie Quinn was called to the discovery of a body, dead beside Kettlewell Creek, she had no idea of the heartache which was to follow. Sharon Eddy was dead but it was her autopsy which revealed the branding on her hip. The ME, Anya Feist, called Josie and Gretchen, to inform them, but also to show her own branding, done by her brutal ex-husband a decade ago. Was Vance Hadlee killing young women now to get to his ex-wife? With Josie and her husband Noah, also a detective, plus her team beside them, they headed to the Hadlee farm. It was in a different county, so Sheriff Cyrus Grey was along for the ride. But was he corrupt?

As the case advanced, excruciatingly slowly, another young woman was found, similarly branded. And the death of a young woman, years before, in Grey's county seemed to link to the current ones in Denton. What was going on? Who was the culprit, and why was there a gap of ten years before the first current murder? Josie needed the answers but they just weren't coming...

Close Her Eyes is the 17th in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and once again it was intense, gritty and heartbreaking. I always enjoy the characters as they chase down killers, putting them behind bars. The quiet time for Josie as she interacts with Noah, her twin, Trinity, plus Misty and her little boy Harris, who Josie and Noah love. I feel I know them all well, and it's great catching up during each episode. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

OMG Lisa Regan. How on earth do you do it?
This is book SEVENTEEN. And the standard doesn't lower, it's just going higher with every installment.
Josie Quinn is one of my favourite characters, her back story is fascinating and is as gripping as the crime stories she is investigating.
This book is no different- she has blasted it out of the park once again.
I know I'm in for a cracking read when I start a Josie Quinn book, and wow, was I right.

This is a particularly heavy installment of the Josie Quinn series. The murders and topics discussed are intense, and there are lots of layers to unravel. We get a lot of Josie with her sister in this book, and it was interesting to see everything sort of fall apart, and then come back together. Full of action and drama! A very engaging read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

Close Her Eyes by Lisa Regan had a different feel to it. Josie was calmer. It started off as the story of a murdered girl, but the murders kept piling up. Josie’s sister. Trinity, and her boyfriend, Drake, had been staying with them. Trinity was working on a possible story just one county over. Josie had not asked her about it yet, but would. When they went to make the notification, it was even harder for Josie as the victim’s grandmother reminded her of her own dead grandmother. It was not too long before Anya, the medical examiner called her, sounding upset. She asked her to come over and not bring Mettner or Fraley but Gretchen. When they got to the morgue she showed them something on the victims body: a brand. Then she did the most astonishing thing: she pulled down her pants and showed them an identical brand on her own thigh. Then she told the story of the abuse she had suffered at the hands of her husband, many years past.

The conclusion of this book made it the most heart-breaking book of Regan’s I’ve read. The cemetery scene had me bawling. The crime itself, turned out to be a very emotional one, for all of them. Regan and Josie Quinn are an amazing duo. Josie has grown so much and matured and is now happily married to a colleague, Detective Noah Fraley. In this book, she got much more banged up than she usually does and it worked on her equilibrium. It was a terrific story, also heartbreaking to its core. I loved every moment of it.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Close Her Eyes by Bookoutre, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Bookoutre #LisaRegan #CloseHerEyes

I do love the installments in this series that involve the history of one of Josie's teammates! And this one was a doozy combining ex-spouses (domestic abuse), small town politics, and family drama. Most of the twists were nice, with one startling exception. Additionally, I expected one particular surprise but I ended up being wrong. It is good to know that no matter how many times you've read an author, the good ones can still surprise you! Hopefully you've being read right along, the entire series. As always that is what I would recommend. Sure the mystery itself is solid as a stand alone, but you miss out on the relationships and connections that make this series so good!
