Fantasy romance is one of my favorite genres because it has all the best parts of romance novels with a side of extraordinary world-building. Dirty Lying Dragons was no exception and I was thrilled to be given an advance copy to read.

"'The first rule of magic,' I whispered, 'mind your ingredients. Nothing can spice up a spell like blood. Like you said, it only takes a drop of magic, and I have it.'" - Dani

Danica, aka Dani, was the most down-to-earth, practical, commonsense heroine I have encountered in a long time and it was so refreshing. She could size up situations, understand the best way forward may be to let someone else take the lead, and didn't whine about her life being flipped on its head.

A girl after my own heart, she was able to put her pride aside and rely on other people to help her and took advice as it was given. We need fewer heroines that "know better" and "don't need a man to protect me" and more rational street-smart heroines thank you very much!

"A smarter person than me would probably have kept their distance better. Ryker was sure of his abilities, unlike my disastrous attempts at magic. He was unfazed by a pack of wolves coming after me - comfortable even. He had the strength to him that set off a hot coal of envy in the pit of my stomach." - Dani

Ryker's character was a bit of a letdown for me, but my hopes may have been too high. He spent a lot of time denying what was right in front of him and was wishy-washy about Dani for way too long. Still, I’m a sucker for a dragon romance and Ryker was all I ever needed him to be once he manned up - powerful, vengeful, protective, and possessive.

"'I'm going to erase every memory of that bastard. The clothes will be gone, the bruises will be gone, and he will be gone. And once that's done, I'll show you what you mean to me,'" - Ryker

Ryker and Dani balanced each other out really well. Ryker was possessive but never jealous or overly controlling. He let Dani take the lead repeatedly when it made sense for her to do so, not barreling over her decisions but just supporting her.

"I'm not going to eat you,' Ryker snorted a laugh, then changed the expression on his face to something of flirtatious mischief. 'That is, unless you want me to, firecracker.'" - Ryker

I wish there had been more focus on the romance between Ryker and Dani. I was expecting much more spice and sexual tension than I got in the end. I’m just saying... I have expectations when I pick up a dragon romance. I ended up caring more about the couple's relationship in the end than the threats against Dani's life.

"I was full fucking furious, and my fire would show them all just want they had unleased. My favorite thing about vampires is how flammable they are." - Ryker

Overall though, Dirty Lying Dragons was a great second act from Sabrina Blackburry and I will definitely put more of her books in my TBR piles as they come out!

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dirty Lying Dragons by Sabrina Blackburry is a delightful sequel to Dirty Lying Fairies that stands on its own while developing well on the world that has already been built.

-A witch that can't use her powers on the run from werewolves
-a protective love interest
- medium level of steamy scenes.
-left me eagerly awaiting the release of book three

This title is best suited for fans of the series that have already read book one.

Dani, a witch who’s unable to use her powers is on the run from a pack of ware wolves. While trying to escape she’s unexpectedly and literally thrown into the arms of a handsome loner, Ryker. They form a connection over the next couple of weeks and while Dani wants nothing more than to hide from her problems Ryker vows to protect her and found out why she’s being hunted. With the help of old friends and new allies they set out to find answers.

I personally love books with otherworldly beings and this book is packed with them all. It was a great storyline with lovable characters and fated love. It could easily be read by itself but the first book, Dirty Lying Faeries, is a great read and you’ll miss out on the excitement of being reunited with some of the characters.

I’d like to thank the publisher for allowing me to read and advance copy through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Especially since I couldn’t wait to read it!

This was an amazing sequel to Sabrina Blackburry's Debut novel. The characters were a lot of fun, I personally loved Ryker and Jerod. I did feel like this was not as spicy as Dirty Lying Faries. I loved that the world and that different spices were introduced in this book. At times there seemed to be some pacing issues some spots were slow while others seemed to be rushed. But overall, this was an Awesome book. It has kept me entertained and I can't wait to read more about the world that Sabrina has brought to life. Can't wait for Dirty Lying Wolves.

I thought I had found a bond when I read Dirty Lying Faeries, it was such a STRONG debut and I loved it. And then I got the ARC for Dirty Lying Dragons. What a sequel! I absolutely loved the ebb and flow of the story, the intense moments of action followed by lulls of development, exposition and banter only to be charged right back up. By the middle of the book I was starting to get the same pacing that I find towards the finale of many other novels, and we weren't even close to the climax yet! The characters were a lot of fun, I personally loved Ryker and Jerod. Ryker because well who DOESN'T love a morally grey MC with a large wingspan and witty banter and Jerod because well first of all hello who ELSE has an adorable hell puppy/ scottish bawbag? Besides, no one else shows up with Jerod's flair and loyalty except MAYBE Gavin. But he doesn't have a Ferdinand.

In all seriousness, the pacing was excellent. You had moments of intensity followed by mellow that kept you from getting burned out (haha) and yet still kept you interested in the story. The characters each have their own faults and baggage, and develop naturally throughout the story. The arrival of familiar faces is nice, as Sabrina DID go and get us all attached to them in the first book. But the expansion of the world was absolutely AWESOME. We got to meet new supernatural races not originally introduced in Dirty Lying Faeries, AND got to catch up on how things have progressed since we left off. I absolutely loved getting to experience Dirty Lying Dragons, and I cannot WAIT for Dirty Lying Wolves!!!

I received an arc of this book! I absolutely loved it. I had only a couple of complaints, and that's that we didn't get more spicy scenes with Ryker and Dani and that it wasn't longer! The ending felt a bit rushed, and I wished we had gotten more. Overall, I loved the book!
