This has been a really great series so far! This takes place one year after book 1 so if you read that one you'll be glad to know we get to see more of Sadie and Law. I loved Leah from the beginning and my heart broke just a little for her every time Phin was being an idiot. Oh boy, was she surrounded by people who mistreated her. From her horrible mother, spineless father, and current terrible employer. And then the man she is in love with courts her companion right in front of her. At least he redeems himself in the end. I completely understood Phin's motivations for pursuing Genevieve and was glad that he finally realized it was Leah he really loved and wanted to marry - I just wish he had come to this conclusion before finding out Genevieve was probably going to turn him down. It would have made it clear to Leah that she wasn't his consolation prize. But everything worked out as it should so I can't complain. And I never really disliked Phin, I just wanted him to find another way out of his financial problems. Good thing Genevieve realized they wouldn't suit or else who knows what terrible decision he would have made (especially knowing the truth about her dowry).

Third book in this series which can all be read as a stand-alone story. Merrywells botanical gardens are in dire need of a cash investment after Phineas father had gambling debts, his answer is to marry a rich heiress to save them.
Leah his young friend returns to the village as a companion to a contender in the marriage mart, but Leah has always been in love with her old playmate. As their feelings for each other grow the choice of who to marry becomes a main feature when a philanthropist offers to buy the gardens to allow them to become profitable, leaving Phineas free to marry his love, but Leah won’t let him sell his beloved botanical gardens, and when new information comes to light their future becomes happier.

We know that there is something suspicious about the inheritance that Leah's charge is claiming. I spent the whole book trying to figure it out. It was hard to put it down because of this. Phin and Leah are perfect together. I enjoyed reading, Romancing the Heiress.

Historical romance. Regency-era England. Book 3 of the Lords in Love series. Leah is back in Marrywell for the annual matchmaking festival as a companion to a young debutante in search of a husband. Of course Leah is still enamored with her childhood friend Phineas, who is considering marrying an heiress to save his secretly impoverished estate. This one is a relatively quick read, with somewhat tragic backstories for everyone involved: Leah had an abusive childhood so she was desperate to escape the village of Marrywell; Phineas had a gambling father who left the estate in dire financial condition; and even the young debutante who is not at all who we’re concerned with has an overbearing managing mother. However, the attraction between Leah and Phineas was a delight to read and their shared history made for a stronger connection. And we get to see the couple from Book 1 of the series again for the festival.

This well written book with great characters that are well developed and engaging and the storyline flows smoothly from beginning to the end.
