This was a trip. The way the author interconnected the parallel universe is in the past and present in this book, kept me guessing it what was truly going on. I did find myself wishing that the main guy wrote interest in the book was not deceased by the end. I was shocked at who ended up being the villain, and he was a good person, and just the whole unraveling of events as we near the end. This is a book that I really wish we could get another book from just because the Indian left me wanting so much more.

A beautifully written fantasy novel with multiple POV's and a several realms, magic systems and politics. This book is what fantasy is all about. Well written, well crafted with a story that will have the reader deeply involved until the last page.

I regret to say I couldn't finish this book despite several attempts. While the writing itself is decent, I struggled to connect with the characters and the world-building due to the overwhelming number of perspectives. Additionally, the insta-love trope made it harder for me to stay engaged. While I had to put it down for now, I may revisit it later, as I believe the story has potential.

Thank you to Netgalley and Shadow Spark Publishing for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It was a fast paced story but really hard to get into with all of the characters point of views. I hate books (usually) with multiple character povs- just makes it harder to focus on the story when there are multiple different variations.

This was a fun read! I loved the characters, loved the magic system, and I'm really excited to read the rest of the series after the way this one ended.

I requested this book based on the cover alone. I mean, look at it! I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be one of my favorite books of the year, so far. I kept stopping myself because I didn’t want to finish too fast! Let me start off by saying- this is not a romantasy! So if that’s what you’re looking for, this isn’t it. There is some romance and it’s very well done, but it’s far from the focus. That, to me, is a breath of fresh air. If you’re looking for beautiful world building and lovable characters with an amazing plot, this is the book for you!

This is a fast-moving and complex fantasy with a great magic system and quite a bit of mystery. I loved the different types of magic (prana) users. Una was my favorite character but I really enjoyed all of them. Even the beginning and meeting the characters was fun and not slow like some fantasy books I’ve read. Amell has an excellent writing style and l could really picture the world that was created. The mystery and ending have me anxious for the next book! 5 STARS from me!!! Thank you so much to Netgalley and Shadow Spark Publishing for the ARC!

This is a fast paced fantasy novel with multiple POV's, It has a fascinating world building with a unique magic system. It took me a while to get used to switching POV's. The characters were likable strong, resilient and easy to root for. It has a compelling plot with baffling and unexpected twist towards the end. I love a fast paced fantasy novel which is rare in itself. But some moments in the book felt rushed and I wish some of the characters were fleshed out a little more. Give this a try if you are in mood for a fantasy novel with intricately woven plot, unexpected friendships, love loss and betrayal.

Absolutely riveting. Four hundred pages that reads like one hundred. You just simply can't put this book down and can't turn the pages fast enough!

This was a great read of fantasy with a mash up of The Devil, Angels, and Shades. It was fast paced and interesting from start to finish. I loved all the characters and the world the author created. I hope to find more books by this author in the future.

Malakai was thrown in jail for going against the king. He is one of the knight's and is determined to find his brother, Ciaran and save the kingdom from their crazed king.
Amaryllis is a fae who doesn't want to be in the human's realm until she starts learning what it's like to have friends you can trust.
Una is a mage that has a mysterious life she can remember, but doesn't believe she lived.

This entire story was absolutely amazing. The character building was insane and had me in tears on two different occasions. In addition, the betrayals that occurred in this book were not expected! I usually can tell when there is a plot twist coming, and sure, I did start to doubt the character in question, but it was not the plot twist I was expecting!

I absolutely loved this book and everything it offered. The only criticism I have is I don't remember Sanar being introduced (it could've been that I simply missed it, but I was awfully confused about this). Maybe introducing him a little more thoroughly could've helped.

I would most definitely recommend this to anyone who likes reading fantasy and adventure books. This would be right up their alley! I would also be interested in reading this book again in the future as I really enjoyed it!

It can be a good book, But i feel like i need more for connection to the plot & the character. It make the halfway of the book just kinda boring. So maybe i just give it 3 stars, it was fine read for me.

Wow. I actually really enjoyed this book. I hadn't heard of it before and came across on netgalley. It sounded intriguing, so I decided to request it. I'm glad I did. I'm not religious myself, but religion based fantasy novels can sometimes intrigue me simply because they can be so unique. I was not disappointed there. I also thoroughly enjoyed the majority of our cast of characters and their individual plots/journies. They live in a rich fantasy world, suffer a fast-paced and exciting plot, and are surrounded by a creative magic system. My one complaint would be how unrealistic that drastic on and instant and intense love would be for both couples. It doesn't feel meaningful or real at that point.

A big thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Spark Publishing for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. I loved reading this story. Amell has a gift for world building and storytelling. I was engrossed in this story from start to finish. All three main characters, Malakai, Amaryllis, and Una are well developed and well written with each POV full of detail and compelling. As the three characters intersect, the plot flows pretty quickly, and all the details make sense in the end. The magic system is fully explained, which is nice because a lot of fantasy writers skip this detail.
Honestly, this was a fresh take on the genre that I cannot wait to explore more.

This is a must read for anyone who loves fantasy and stories about saving what is important in the world.

3.75/5 stars! This was a strong first entry in a new fantasy series. There was a bit of instalove that wasn't super believable, but the characters were 3-dimensional and the pacing was fast and kept me engaged. Will be making a point to look up the sequel and read it when released.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review

An interesting fantasy with really well developed world building (there's even a map in the beginning) and fun dynamic magical characters you get to follow on an adventure. This is really fast paced and jumps straight in and it took me a few chapters to understand what was truly happening and get hooked into the story. There's also a lot of POV's in quick succession which takes a lot of getting used to but the writing is beautiful and Mirai weaves a fun and interesting story of betrayal, love and magic.

Now, let’s get started.
I have never experienced such a love/hate relationship with a book before. I was constantly torn between “wow! Great story!” And “good lord this sh*t drags”.

First of all, there are way too many character POVs for no apparent reason or purpose. The fact that they all occur so early in the book is annoying and doesn’t allow the reader to get to know the characters at all. It felt like the agitated state you’re in when 2 songs are playing at the same time and someone is talking to you. You can’t focus on any one thing being said.

Secondly, as readers we are entirely robbed of the first character we meet after like 3 chapters. I kept waiting to hear from Ciaran again but nope! No Ciaran for you! Just Una’s irritating accent that served zero purpose and more questions than answers.

Another thing that drove me nuts was Kai’s character arc or lack thereof. I think the author was so intent on having a plot twist no one saw coming, that she forgot everything she already wrote about who he was as a person. It reminded me of the last episode in Game of Thrones where Dany loses her mind with no warning. Like, are you happy? You broke it!

The only reason I gave this book 3 stars was for
- a map
- an original idea
- magic

That’s it. If there is to be a sequel, I hope to god the author tries a little harder.

This one has so much promise! The “bones” are amazing, just needs some additional cleaning up where grammar is concerned. I enjoyed Ciaran’s character & development.
I received this eARC through NetGalley for my unbiased opinion.
Thank you for allowing me to read!

This was a great, fast-paced book that I had trouble putting down. I thought it would be about Cieran rescuing his friend Malakai after his brother, the current King throws him in jail. While I was completely wrong because it turns out Malakai escapes from prison and Cieran has vanished without a trace. I really enjoyed the whole mystery of it and all the fun characters this one had to offer. I would put this book in the new adult category with two of the main characters being 19 and I believe around 23 and I think it's a great addition to the emerging.

My favourite character was the devil, not sure what that says about me haha, and I hope he appears in the next two books. While it is a trilogy, this book does wrap up nicely and can be read as a standalone.
