Scottish, Time Travel Romance

Lorna traveled back in time, centuries into the past. Who knew that a small trip with her two-timing fiancée would lead to a journey, centuries into the past? There, she would find a lonely highlander, children in need of love, and an evil, scheming woman.

Gunn wanted a passionless marriage because he loved and lost. However, when Lorna came into his life, he lost his heart to her. However, there was a woman he was to marry before Lorna came on the scene, and she was not going to let the earl go so easily. Gunn and Lorna must watch out for the viper in their midst. The romance and action kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to lovers of time travel and Scottish historical romance.

This is book six in this author's Time to Love a Highlander series. However, unlike most series these books are not interrelated. Their only connection is a modern heroine who falls back in time in the Highlands to fall in love with a resident of that time. The circumstances of the time traveling varies, the circumstances that the ladies left varies, the year that they end up in varies, and the circumstances of the hero varies. That makes each a wonderful stand-alone with each having a marvelous tale. Lorna Merriweather has renovated the used bookstore that she inherited and the grand opening is a mashing success. Not quite so successful is her date with her boyfriend to see the Northern Lights. It's here that she makes a wrong move and ends off the cliff and into 1622. This is where the story really begins. We are introduced to quite the succession of characters from the nasty to the adorable children to the handsome laird. The laird, Gunn Sinclair has loved and lost twice and doesn't care to do it again. Can you stop love if it is meant to be? Unfortunately, there are issues and problems that can try. A quick paced enjoyable read that I just wanted to keep reading until I reached the end. It takes a lot of talent and imagination for an author to create so many different, unique scenarios. Each book is a delightful read just as this one is.

Another amazing read of time traveling story in this series! Though I need to go back and read the others

Lorna went to the cliffs to see the northern lights and ended up being transported into into the 17th century and ended up being picked up by a lady and her brother traveling to the Keep. She was introduced to Gunn the chieftan as taking care of the children. The lady that picked her up is to be the betrothed of the chieftain and is an evil The building romance between Lorna and Gunn along with the plot of trying to get rid on his evil betrothed. With no spoiles, there is quite the drama and action in the last quarter or so of the book.

I like how the time travel was handled in this one. Lorna wasn't suspected too much since she was wearing a period costume when she traveled through time and didn't seem to have too many slip-ups in modern wording. Once thing that I thought may have helped her proof would have been the reveal of a futuristic object, but that wasn't really needed.

The characters were well developed and the plot kept me pretty interested. Thankful for the time travel piece not being too predictable or campy.

Another great read

This is the sixth book of the series, Time to Love a Highlander. This series has really gotten me interested in time travel stories, even though I don't typically read a lot of that genre. The series has been captivating so far and this one also did not disappoint. The characters were well-developed and interesting and I was easily endeared to them. Lorna travels back in time to 1622 when she falls off a cliff after storming away from her fiance when she throws his engagement ring back at him after listening to his betrayal. When she comes to, she finds herself in the middle of a snowstorm, and though things still look a bit familiar, she is still confused as to where she is. A strange woman comes across her and offers her a ride back to town where she meets Gunn St. Clair. Gunn has already suffered two great losses, and has no intention of going through that again. But his daughter, Arabella, needs a mother, and so he decides to marry for convenience, and not love. Arabella doesn't want her father to marry without love and sees Lorna as the perfect wife for him. The current lady that Gunn is resigned to marry, Lady Murdina, is cruel and wicked and Arabella convinces Lorna to help her stop the wedding and get rid of her. What Lorna doesn't know is that Arabella has plans to switch ladies and have Lorna as the bride.
The story was entertaining and definitely kept me intrigued. A captivating, well-written, and fast-paced story with great characters that kept me engaged till the end. A wonderful addition to the series!

By the time Lorna Merriweather has appeared in the past, she refuses to be anybody's doormat. She's not afraid to protect herself and anyone that's an underdog. Gunn Sinclair, the Earl of Caithness, suffering from the deaths of two wives and a son, can't ignore Lorna when she enters his castle like a whirlwind. Protective of Gunn, his daughter, Bella, and the two children "belonging" to Lady Murdina, Lorna will not put up with the heartless woman who presents herself as Gunn's soon to be wife. Something is fishy about Lady Murdina. FIVE STARS for this one.
Open bedroom door.

Loving Her Lonely Highlander. This book is bloody marvelous! Gunn and Lorna are so sweet. “Sweeter then wine they are.” I have to share with you a pounding applause on the table, for some great writing in this love story.
There are moments that you will feel that this book is truly worth reading. It’s such a wonderful telling of woman finds man. Man see’s woman. Woman tells him off. Man falls madly in love with woman.
And then the chase is on. That’s my impression of the book. Your’s maybe different. Let’s talk about the important stuff. As I said before, Gunn and Lorna are amazingly sweet.
Their instant friendship took this book to a high level. Adding Bella, and Frances, Hesther and Ebby was a big plus. These little mites definitely ran the show. Bella is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to her father. Needless to say that I absolutely loved these characters including Jasper, but my favorite one of all is Bella.
She definitely understood the assignment when it came to Murdina. My thoughts with characters is that they are very appropriate with the motivating factors of the story. The background story or plot is logical for the storylines time period. Gunn’s mission certainly advance the story, activating actions or reactions with the book. Lorna somehow, has fallen into the hands of Earl Gunn and Clan Sinclair.
I have to give an allocation to Lorna’s character. Her character is so casual, calm, serene, intelligent and loving in this story. All the problems or issues that she is going through, somehow she doesn’t let others see. She is a very strong character in the book. We will not say anything about Murdina’s character.
You will just have to read the book. Back to the plot. The storyline keeps the story moving adding twist and turns to transpire among the halls of the castle. These moments I thought were truly engaging, adding to the book to be a terrific page turner. The book is definitely an easy read, as well as in enjoyable.
The romance is so sweet, charming and little heated for the book. My swoon worthy moment is the dialogue and emotional moments between Gunn and Lorna. One more thing. I loved how the dialogue moves easily between modern day terminology back to early history Scottish dialect. These moments were a little funny to me.
Mostly because Gunn and the other characters looked at Lorna as though she has lost her mind. Again the story is fun. It’s enjoyable and a classic read. I give this book two snaps and a, “hang her from the tower! Now!”
Until next time my fellow readers… read on! I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Lorna Merriweather and her fiancé head out to see the northern lights but instead of it being a romantic date Lorna finds out her fiancé is cheating on her.
Lorna feels so betrayed and storms off only to stumble and fall of the edge of a cliff.
When she comes too Lorna finds herself in the 17th century.
Lorna is drawn to the Chieftain Gunn Sinclair who takes her in but he is betrothed to Lady Murdina. But something is not right and Lorna is determined to find out before Gunn makes a huge mistake in marrying Lady Murdina.
This is a great series of books and I have enjoyed each one.
This book was no exception, I love how for each book the author has come up with a new way for the main character to travel back in time.
What I also loved about the plot of this book was that Lorna's knowledge of the future could not help her.
Gunn was not in danger from political attacks or war from another clan or the English. The only danger was from matters of the heart.
Overall this book is a great time travel romance, great characters, great story that flowed it even had a villain that you live to hate.

Another good time traveling story in this series!

Lorna went to the cliffs to see the northern lights and ended up being transported into into the 17th century. She ended up being picked up by a lady and her brother traveling to the Keep. She is introduced to Gunn the chieftan as having a job taking care of the children. The lady that picked her up is to be the betrothed of the chieftain and is an evil woman.

Lorna knew her fiancé was no good and should have left him a long time ago, so it should come as no surprise when he tells her its over. But as she leaves the car, she tumbles and finds herself back in time! Waking up in the freezing, cold of the Scottish country side, she manages to catch a ride in a passing cart and quickly realizes that she has stumbled upon an odd situation and decides she needs to stick around and protect the frightened children she is traveling with. Come to find out, they are on their way to meet the matron’s ‘hopefully’ future husband. She quickly steps into the role of governess for the two small children and the Laird’s daughter as well.

But spending time with the Laird is another concern as they are starting to develop an easy kinship and feelings are surfacing that Gunn is determined to suppress. He has already lost to women he loved and he refuses to fall in love again and go through that pain a third time. However, his fiance, Lady Murdina, is horrible and Lorna and the children are trying to find a way to get her to leave.

Lady Murdina finally shows her true character and Gunn realizes he can not deny his feelings anymore! Lorna and Gunn were so sweet; I loved that they developed a good friendship before anything else, especially seeing them around the children! Ms. Greyson always delivers a heart warming, quick romance and I always know I will close the book with a long satisfying sigh.

Sent back in time to save her life. However saving her life might just be putting her life in danger.
A wonderful book to sit down and cozy with. Seeing how everything works out and works together was fun. The ending had me on pins and needles of what was going to happen. But everything turned out alright. A happily ever after
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book.

Modern day bookshop owner Lorna Merriweather's excursion to see the Northern lights turns very upsetting. Her journey could be the best thing to happen to her.
Chieftain Gunn Sinclair might have made a terrible decision in his search for a new wife. The Clan and his daughter's wellbeing depend on him getting it right.
This time-travel romance is a great adventure from the first to last page. The courage all our characters show is immense. Bella in particular is such a wonderfully loving, intelligent and generous soul.
I loved it.

Loving Her Lonely Highlander by Maeve Greyson is a time travel novel wherein Lorna Merriweather is transported back in time. As luck would have it she had been having an event in her bookstore and so was dressed in period costume. Her skank of a boyfriend had taken her up to the cliffs to ask for the engagement ring back. Yes, the ring that turned her finger green. It seems his other girlfriend was pregnant. She was furious and then she woke up he was gone so she started walking. Funny thing was, she saw no lights. Before long a carriage came along. A very authentic carriage. In it were a lady, a gentleman, and two shivering children. Lorna gathered the children under her cloak to try to provide some warmth. It was at that point that the woman introduced herself as Lady Murdina, the betrothed of the Earl of Caithness, to whose castle they were proceeding. It didn’t take long before Murdina proved her self to be a *itch of the first order.

Gunn Sinclair, the Earl of Caithness, had already lost two wives, both of whom he had loved and so was purposely seeking a new wife, one that he would never love. Lady Murdina certainly qualified on that order. Gunn was a great character, written well by Greyson, loved by his clan and his household.. His most precious “possession” was his daughter, Bella, who was a great character: independent, loving, and opinionated. He doted on her but saw her as she was, good and bad. The story was a good one with the time traveler canny enough to fit in, albeit having to monitor herself. Eventually she told Gunn the truth, but he could not really comprehend it. It was a fun read. Greyson has a comfortable style that draws the reader into whatever she is writing. I recommend it.

Very enjoyable read from a wonderful author.
I’ve loved this series so far and this is another great read to add to the list.
More exciting and adventurous escapades in the past for two new characters, who begin with their differences looking unassailable, but conclude with a happy ending .

Another enjoyable story from the creative Maeve Greyson! I have enjoyed this series and easily fell in love with all the characters and each leading couple. This story brings a lonely highlander from the 1600’s together with a modern day Scottish lass who is looking for someone to give her their love. Greyson links in those beautiful and mysterious northern lights as a way to bring these two lost souls together.

Thurso, Scotland Past & Present
2022 present & 1622 four hundred years in the past

Orphan and bookshop owner with self esteem issues is Lona Merriweather. This Scottish beauty is known for kindness, forgiveness and possibly looking the other way when loser boyfriend Patrick she wants to marry might be cheating on her with another. Being an orphan she fears living life alone and feels even being with her loser boyfriend Patrick is better than nothing. She hates when people are cruel or abusive to children, animals and the elderly. Now her current fiancé who all her friends suspect is a cheap bully who is cheating on Lorna! Especially giving her a ring that turns her wee ring finger green, complaining about spending money, and puts her down about everything positive in her life! Even asking her for money to pay for a salad! Yet being an orphan she fears being alone. Lorna is such a generous hearted old soul, this is why this previous aging book store owner left her bookstore to Lorna who saw her caring goodness to others and the less fortunate .

Now Lorna’s boyfriend Patrick decides to take her to Aurora Borealis in the bitter cold which he despises, she thinks maybe he is changing his cruel selfish ways. Well just like a lizard can never change its spots as neither can loser boyfriend Patrick she realized too late! She got the worst news possible and threw the cheap engagement ring in his face and then fell over the cliff accidentally! Lorna thought she was thrown to her death, however she wakes up in seventeenth century Scotland and meets Laird Gunn Sinclair’s prospective bride Lady Murdina Sullivan and her brother Laird Reginald Leckness, Laird of Clan who were smothered with blankets to keep from the cold elements. However the two children, her son Frances and her eleven year old ladies maid had barely any covering and were shivering. So after begging for a ride to get out of the elements Lorna shared her cloak with the children. Of course she at first thinks this is a historical reenactment of some kind, but soon she realizes she had traveled four hundred years into the past!

Chieftain Gunn Sinclair, 6th Earl of Caithness of Thurso castle is the hero of the story. He has loved and lost two women and does not think he would survive losing another wife he gives his heart to. However he knows he needs an heir but this time he has a new set of rules. This time it is more or less a business transaction. He is determined to find out within thirty days if they are compatible or not, if not the contract is null and void and they go their separate ways. Even Gunn’s smart, precocious, nine year old daughter named Bella thinks her Dad is totally bonkers! He is being ridiculous and deserves to be loved as everyone does and as no one can predict the future, Bella is very intelligent beyond her years and her fathers pride and joy who could not be more proud of. Of course she is a wee bit of an eavesdropper too plus doesn't want a cold transaction for her new mama. Especially when she discovers the cruel abusive Lady Murdina Sullivan who is even abusive to her own son Frances and her ladies maid Hester who also both look to be starving with skeleton bodies. Something was definitely wrong and did not make sense with a woman who threatens her son so Lorna will become his nursemaid and also Hesther who was only a child and way too young to be a ladies maid. Plus the way the children attached themselves to her in such a short amount of time where something was definitely wrong!

Furthermore when Gunn meets and instantly becomes attracted to this unusual woman who is Lorna Merriweather with nothing more but the clothes on her back. She is shocked seeing Thurso castle as a full functioning castle, after all this castle is in ruins in her time in 2022! . Gunn is weary the way Lorna is basically forced to become both Frances and Hesther’s nursemaid by Lady Murdina Sullivan . It was obvious both these children were being abused and young Hesther was way too young to be anyone’s ladies maid as she was not more then eleven years old. It was the only reason Lorna agreed as she felt both children needed her protection, as her warriors heart cried out to her .Bella instantly loved Lorna and decided she was to be a matchmaker and this is who she wanted I be her can’t seem mama she only had to convince her papa and Lorna,How hard could that be? Gunn feels Lorna is hiding something and he does not like the way his man in arms is looking at Lorna like she is c delicious to eat! Yes it is pure jealousy and he does not know how to control the intense feelings he has and doesńt know how to control them. Will Lorna find a s) a way back to the 21st century? Can she admit she is falling in love with the gentle, kind caring highlander? Will we find out why Lady Murdina is so cruel to her own son? Will Bella get the mama of her dreams? Will Gunn think Lorna is insane when he hears her time-travel-tale? Read and find out.

Again Maeve Greyson pens another captivating time travel tale that checks all the boxes with a swoon worthy hero of the past, a bonnie woman of the future with a beautiful warrior’s heart. Both of them had been hurt from previous relationships for very different reasons. It is definitely a book readers won’t be able to put down but will absolutely love! Maeve is so talented and another go-to-author of mine that I absolutely always love! Another riveting, awe-inspiring, action packed, page turning, gripping tale that is a definite nail biter! I loved “Loving Her Lonely Highlander” so much and I highly recommend this romantic time-travel adventure. If you love Outlander or time-travel books you definitely don’t want to miss this one, I can’t recommend it enough! Bravo Ms Greyson you penned another exhilarating read that readers will love. I found this to be such an entertaining story and as usual, when Maeve Greyson writes, I voraciously read!! I'm really enjoying this time travel series and always let out a happy sigh for the couples whose stories are written. This time it's Gunn and Lorna's story and all I can say is that there's never a dull moment!

Gunn and Lorna are such wonderful characters and the children are absolutely adorable. As for the villain, she got what she deserved!! I loved how protective Lorna was and how brave she was. Gunn is also a worthy hero and you can't help but fall in love with him. With plenty of danger and a few twists and turns, I found myself forgetting how to breathe a couple of times!!

I absolutely loved the ending, so very touching.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Highland time slip romance!

Falling off a cliff when her boyfriend Patrick asked for his engagement ring back (for someone else!) just as the aura borealis lights up the sky is not what Lorna Merriweather planned. Neither did falling into snow back in the seventeenth century. 1622 to be exact.
Flagging down a passing coach (really!) she journeys to Castle Thursa (wasn’t that a ruin?) with the occupants. Nothing jelled but Lorna’s still feeling woozy. This reenactment business was carrying things a bit far!
Mysteriously her cell phone didn’t work. Not so mysteriously when she realizes she was in the past, in the home of a Lord Gunn Sinclair, with a shrew of a woman who’s decided Lorna would do nicely as her nursemaid.
Dunn was determined to marry without love, hence the visit of Lady Murdina to get to know her better. But this strange woman who’d arrived with her, who was or wasn’t a nursemaid, set his blood afire.
A highland historical romance with the twist of time bringing changes.
A quick read, the story pushed my credulity to the edge. But on some level it obviously captured my attention because I kept reading, even though I’d foreseen where most of the plot would lead.

A Dragonblade ARC via NetGalley.
Many thanks to the author and publisher.

Bookshop owner, Lorna Merriweather is known for her patience. Especially regarding her fiancé. Tonight he’s promised to go to the cliffs to watch for the northern lights. He must have something special to share if he’s willing to treat her to the Aurora Borealis in the bitter cold that he hates. But when his something special turns out to be a cruel betrayal impossible to forgive, she throws his ring in his face and storms away, stumbling over the cliff straight into the arms of the most amazing northern lights show of her life. When her head clears, it’s morning and she’s back on the hillside in the middle of a snowstorm. Everything looks familiar—but not. 17th century Gunn Sinclair, 6th Earl of Caithness and chieftain of Clan Sinclair, has been widowed twice. He loved both wives and can’t stand the thought of going through that heartbreak again. But his beloved daughter Arabella needs a mother, and he needs an heir. The only solution is an arranged marriage to a woman he will never love. An amicable passionless union is what he seeks.
The sixth book in the series but it’s easily read on its own. My favourite of the series so far, well written with strong characters & a fast paced story. I loved the feisty modern day Lorna & how she coped four hundred years in the past. I also loved Gunn who was so loveable & caring. Bella, Edmund & Hester were delightful, the villain was horrid. There was a sizzling attraction, lies, secrets, regrets as well as a castle riddled with secret passages & a villain intent on getting what they want in whatever way they could. I found it very hard to put down & the beautiful epilogue brought a tear to my eye
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Skulduggery and evil plans abound in this whacky time-travel romance. Thrown back into the 17th century, Lorna Merriweather finds herself in the middle of a snowstorm and being transported to a castle that she knows no longer exists. Her confusion is real, but it is nothing compared to what Gunn, the Earl of Caithness is feeling when the strange woman arrives with his intended bride. Gunn's daughter, Bella, views the situation with the eyes of a child and decides that Lorna will make a much better stepmother and starts planning her own strategy to ensure that her father marries the right woman. There is humor in the plot and at times I laughed out loud, and I was glad that Gunn and Lorna found the love they both needed. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
