My first Amish romance and I found myself enjoying it. It's not as problematic as I feared it could be and it was an easy read, perfect for a day when you're stuck inside due to weather

This is a Clean Romance, and this is the second book in the Butternut Amish B & B series. I have read the first book in this series before picking up this book, but I do not think you need to read the first book before picking up this book. I really loved the characters in this book, and I loved the fact both of the main characters where at a point in their lives they were trying to figure out what they really want out of their lives. The little girl just stole the show every time she was a part of the scene, and I really loved that you could feel the energy she had and the love her father had for her. The little girl was just the light of this book. I really loved reading this book so much. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Heartwarming) or author (Patricia Johns) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This was a charming story with great characters. Hazel is a pilot who is getting ready to start a new job. Her daughter is grown and Hazel ready to start her new life. She doesn't plan on meeting Joe or his adorable little girl Lottie. All Lottie wants is her mom and all Joe wants is a woman to be a stay at home mom for Lottie. What follows is an engaging story about love and faith.
As a working mom, I totally related to Hazel. It's not always easy, but you make it work because you love your children.
This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone novel.. I will go back and read the first one because this book was so good! Many thanks to the author and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This is a fun book set in Amish country, but featuring English main characters. Joe is a single father who is on the hunt for love and a mom for his daughter. Heidi is a single mother with an adult child who is looking forward to finally focusing on her dream career. Love takes them both by surprise and causes them to reconsider their priorities. I really enjoyed the comical element of Joe's daughter, the donkey, and the shennanigan's of Heidi's ex.

Thank you to Netgalley for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.

A Single Dad in Amish Country by Patricia Good, book two in the Butternut Amish B&B series, where two single parents meet, connect, but have very different goals for their lives. Now that her daughter is ready to go off to college, Hazel Dobbs is ready to take on a job that will give her the job of her dreams. Hazel is staying at the Butternut Amish B & B while she prepares to become a commercial pilot. While staying at the B & B she meets landscaper and single father Joe Carter and his four-year-old daughter Lottie. Hazel's daughter Maddie is in the UK visiting her father, and talks regularly with Hazel about the difficulties on getting to know him and his family. Hazel would not take back one second of her life with her daughter but now it is the time to live her dreams.

Joe is not Amish but senses a connection to the community; he was adopted as a baby and his mother was Amish. Lottie is very interested in where her mother is and talks about her a lot. She is in awe of airplanes, and thinks if she gets on the right plane she can find her mother. Joe wants more than anything to give Lottie a stable, two-parent home, because he has a sense of loss from his past that he does not want passed on to his daughter. Joe is a catch and more than one mother in his Lottie's preschool class would love to snare him, but he wants more than a mother for his child, as important as that is for him. In fact, he wants a companion, and that just might come in the form of Hazel. As sparks fly and feelings grow they are concerned about how they can compromise without either of them losing focus of what they want. This is a very sweet story that will bring tears to your eyes at the end of the story.

Ms Johns wrote an endearing story about two single parents with different goals for their future. Interesting and amusing secondary characters complement the story without taking the focus off of the main characters; Belinda’s matchmaking, bachelor farmer Earl living next-door, and Eeyore the disappearing donkey. I highly recommend A Single Dad in Amish Country to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

What a fun and heartwarming story by author Patricia Johns! Continuing her Butternut Amish B&B series, she makes me want to go stay there! Do read book 1, Her Amish Country Valentine as this is where we meet the people from the B&B.

Hazel knows what she wants in life and is going to get it. She also knows what she doesn’t want but boy can a handsome landscaper make a woman think twice. Joe also knows what he wants, and that is to help his little girl, Lottie, who is constantly looking for her mommy who isn’t part of her life. And that little girl, paired with a rascally donkey, really gives us some laughs. Even the secondary characters add to the charm of this story. Can everyone get what they want in life? I didn’t see how it could happen, so read to find out.

If you enjoy clean, contemporary romance I highly recommend A Single Dad in Amish Country.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

A Single Dad in Amish Country by Patricia Johns is a story that I enjoyed reading. Hazel Dobbs and Joe Carter are both single parents, but they are at different points in their lives. Hazel’s daughter is grown, and Hazel has just gotten her dream job as a pilot for an airline. Joe is a landscaper with a preschool age daughter. Lottie, Joe’s daughter, is obsessed with airplanes. Lottie is a scene stealer. She definitely keeps her father on her toes (she is a ball of energy). You can tell that Hazel is taken with Lottie and Joe. It was great to catch up with Belinda Wickey who owns the Butternut Bed and Breakfast as well as her crotchety neighbor, Eli Lapp. Let us not forget Belinda’s donkey, Eeyore who likes to pull a Houdini now and then. I like Patricia Johns writing style. It makes her stories easy to read. She creates characters that are realistic and relatable. Eli and Belinda have a unique relationship. Eli has cared for Belinda since she was a teenager. I enjoy their banter. It will be interesting to see if the two can get over their differences (like Eli having chickens on his dining room table). Hazel regularly talks to her daughter, Maddie, who is visiting her father in England for the first time. Maddie has some troubles with her father’s family and needs her mother’s guidance. I thought Hazel gave her some sound advice. A Single Dad in Amish Country is the second book in The Butternut Amish B&B series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading Her Amish Country Valentine. I am eager to read A Boy’s Amish Christmas. One of my favorite lines from A Single Dad in Amish Country is, “Every family is different.” There are good lessons in A Single Dad in Amish Country. The ending left me smiling. A Single Dad in Amish Country is a sweet story with a precocious preschooler, a family calamity, pant patch-ups, an escaping Eeyore, a pretty pilot, an appealing landscaper, and high-flying fun.

This book immediately engaged me because of the occupation of pilot for the character of Hazel. Which is exactly what a family member is doing right now! So I totally tuned in right from the beginning. Then it continued to engage me because of characters wanting to know about the biological parentage. This is something I have been doing in my career. And I couldn't help but fall in love with Eeyore. So that being said, this was a sweet story that I just absolutely loved reading. It was just what I needed! It was a truly enjoyable book to read. I am so glad that I was able to read this very nice book! I really liked the author's style of writing. Thanks to NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Delightful characters make this book one that you will not want to put down until you have finished it.

Assuming she will have a quiet vacation in Amish country, Hazel, a woman becoming an empty -nest parent, comes for a quiet place to study for a test for her dream pilots license. When she meets a handsome English landscaper who lives and works in this Amish area and who is the single dad of a precocious 4 -year-old daughter, sparks fly. Neither knows how to handle this as a relationship is not in their plans.

I highly recommend this book to those who like to read clean, sweet romances. I received a copy of this book from Harlequin Romance and Netgalley. This opinion expressed is my own.

Two single parents bond over the trials and tribulations of single parenthood while trying to downplay their undeniable chemistry

Hazel Dobbs and Joe Carter are single parents with very different goals in life. She is training to become a commercial pilot and he is Englisch living among the Amish and raising his four-year-old daughter Lottie. Lottie is a busy preschooler who is on a mission. She wants her mommy, a woman she has never met. Joe wants more than anything to give Lottie a stable, two-parent home, because he has a sense of loss from his past that he does not want passed on to his daughter.

Hazel is staying at a lovely Amish B & B while she studies for a test that will get her the job of her dreams. She has flown airplanes for years, but has dreamt of flying commercial. While staying at the B & B she meets single father Joe and his adorable daughter. His little girl is in awe of airplanes, and thinks if she gets on the right plane she can find her mother.

Meanwhile, Hazel's daughter Maddie is in the UK visiting her father, and talks regularly with Hazel about the difficulties on getting to know him and his family. Hazel would not take back one second of her life with her daughter but now it is the time to live her dreams. Meeting Joe gives her pause.

Joe is a catch and more than one mother in his daughter's preschool class would love to snare him, but he wants more than a mother for his child, as important as that is for him. In fact, he wants a companion, and that just might come in the form of Hazel. However, she plans on being up in the sky with regard to his career, and he wants stability for his daughter.

What a sweet story by Patricia Johns. I love the backstories in this book. Not just Hazel and Joe's stories, but the B & B owner Melinda and how she is affected by unrequited love. Yes, a wonderful story all around and I cannot wait to read the third book in this series later this fall.

Many thanks to Harlequin Heartwarming and to NetGalley for this ARC to review. This is my honest opinion.

A Great Read

A single dad with a steadfast idea of what “perfect” is

A precious little girl with a void to fill and a knack for repeating what others say

A single mom beginning a new stage of life and about to fulfill a lifelong dream

At first glance, I wasn’t sure how the characters would click. Needless to say, little Lottie was a key player in many different ways. I loved how realistic the story was, especially with Lottie’s way of thinking, acting and responding. It was so spot on behavior of a child that age. It had me frustrated one minute, smiling the next and even laughing out loud more than once.

I also loved how Hazel and Joe’s friendship evolved and how honest they were in their conversations with each other. Their openness and honesty with each other was a breath of fresh air to observe as I followed their interactions and their growing relationship.

Lastly, I enjoyed the intrigue factor that was a part of the story. It added a lovely touch to understanding Joe better and also intertwined perfectly into Hazel and Joe’s story.

Great characters, romance, humor, and intrigue are just some of the things that make this wonderful romance one that I highly recommend and one that you will definitely want to read for yourself.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.

This read is part of a series, but they can be read alone.
This is a story of single parents, one with her daughter about to leave the nest for college, and then he has a preschooler, yes, both have daughters.
Not much in common, well, experience, and a precocious four year old, brings these two together.
He thinks he might want a wife to stay home and make the family whole, one who will take care of his daughter. She is finally able to do her own thing, she is about to land her dream job, and fly free.
Can these two find common ground? Well the journey for answers will keep you page turning, and kept my attention!
Now I can't wait for the next book in this series!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.

He and Hazel hit it off right away, but he wants a stay at home wife for his daughter and Hazel has raised her daughter and is ready for a career. Sweet romance.

I fell in love with all the characters in this book. Such a sweet well written story about Joe, who is a landscaper living in Amish Country with his daughter Lottie. When a young lady, Hazel, arrives at the Butternut Amish Bed and Breakfast for a vacation, she comes in contact with Joe, and a sweet romance begins to blossom. Throw in a donkey named Eeyore, and the storyline becomes even more sweeter. Patricia Johns writes amazing books and I know you will enjoy it like I did.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, HARLEQUIN - Romance for granting me a copy of this book in return for my honest opinions.

Wholesome, sweet romance stories are so hard to come by these days and this book is just what I wanted.

The love story is beautiful, sweet and believable. I love the slow building romance between Hazel and Joe. Joe is such a warm loving father and Hazel makes a great mother for Lottie

I loved every page. This book is part of The Butternut Amish B&B series. I will be going back and reading book one and looking for more books by this author.

Recommend.

I so enjoyed this sweet story.
My favorite character, Lottie
She's such a joy in getting to know her, along with her dad Joe.
As a girl, I was just like Lottie. I loved planes! They're fascinating. Still are.
My grandmother would take me to the airport just so we could watch them land and take off. This book reminded me a lot of those days. I miss them.
This book brought that part back.
The Amish added just the right touch. So did Eyrore the donkey. He made me giggle so. I wanted to reach through the pages to pet him just like Lottie did!
Other things I liked were the theme of family, love forgiveness, and redemption.
I liked Belinda and Eli, too. I laughed at their light banter back and forth.
I feel like these characters have become my friends. I hated to say goodbye.
I finished this book in one afternoon. I wanted to see if Joe and Lottie found their happiness.
If things are meant to be, they will happen, but only in God's timing, NOT ours
I chose this particular quote because it's a great reminder that marriage is hard work all the time. You can't just quit because it gets hard.
You choose the person you marry, and you keep on choosing them, even if things don’t go like you expect. Sometimes, a marriage takes many sets of vows. Just keep promising and meaning it.
I just wanted to leave this thought for y'all. It is my favorite quote.
You will be thinking about this and the characters long after the story is finished. Especially little Lottie! She'll steal your heart right away! Trust me on this one!
5 stars for a well written book. I highly recommend it!

A Single Dad in Amish Country by Patricia Johns

This is a wonderful book about a man who is living in the Amish country. He is not Amish, but he feels that he has roots in the community. He was adopted as a baby and his mother was Amish. He has a business landscaping and he has a four-year-old daughter Lottie. The mother of the baby was not ready to be a mother, so she gave him the baby when she was born and made Joe promise not to tell Lottie anything about her until she turned 18 years old.

Lottie is very interested in where her mother is and talks about her a lot. Joe feels that he needs to find a mother for Lottie. He also needs a wife. There are several Amish women who are very eager to go out with him, but he is not interested in any of them.

Hazel is a mother a college age girl. She has come to Amish country for a vacation before she starts her career as a pilot. She wanted to be a pilot years ago and found that she was pregnant and put off her dream until now. She is staying at a local Amish bed-and-breakfast, and the book includes the woman who is running the bed-and-breakfast and her neighbor. They add a lot of interest to the story.
When Hazel and Joe meet sparks fly, so now, there is another problem as to what they should do. It is a very sweet story that will bring tears to your eyes at the end of the story.

There is another book in this series coming out, which I will look forward to reading.
