This is my first reading a book by Amy Andrews and I enjoyed Harper And The Single Dad. This is a second chance at romance for Yarran who is a firefighter and Harper who is the head doctor of the ER department. Years ago, Harper and Yarran were a couple before she fled to England. Now Harper finds herself back Sydney and she never thought that she run into Yarran. The feelings that she had for Yarran are still present and well known to her. Yarran is not the same person as he was before Harper’s departure. Yarran is now widowed with a son Jarran after losing his wife in an accident. Yarran and Harper reconnect as if the two never separated. There are obstacles that the couple has to face as Yarran’s son Jarran is not a fan of Harper. Yarran and Harper have a decision to make.

Will Jarran accept Harper, will Yarran and Harper have a second chance at romance?

I received an ARC via NetGalley HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada), Harlequin Medical Romance and I am leaving my review voluntary.

It amazes me that Amy Andrews can write both a Medical series in Australia and another about Cowboys in Colorado and make them so real. But she does. Her characters are likable people with issues and her descriptions allow the reader to see and experince places they have never been and might not ever get to go.

Harper Jones grew up in foster care and did not experience what it felt like to be a family until she was already in medical school and became friends with a group of other female medical students. She was also drawn into the Edwards family, especially to Yarren, her friend Alina's twin brother. But being in foster care had taught her that she needed to be self- reliant, that eventually every relationship would fail and Yarren would leave her, so when he unexpectedly proposed, she was already on her way to England to advance her career. Twelve years later she returns as head of the ER at Sydney General Hospital. Yarren is now a firefighter and a widower with a young son. The sparks are still there. Will she allow them to have a second chance? I love the story. Which one of her friends will find love in the next book in the series?

I read an ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

This is a Medical Romance, and this is the first book in A Sydney Central Reunion series. I enjoyed getting to know the two main characters, and I enjoyed getting their backstory. My problem with this book is that the two main characters just fall back together without any talking or working on their problems. I felt the characters themselves were well done, but this book really is missing a plot. I think the author was thinking the backstory work helped the plot, but it did not for me. I just wanted more. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Medical Romances) or author (Amy Andrews) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

A good second chance romance with trauma and heartbreak included. Yarran and Harper were in love years ago, but she ran when things got serious because she wasn’t used to or believed she was meant to be loved. Over a decade later she moves back home and Yarran has a young son who lost his mother in an accident.

As they navigate their relationship, his sister pushes for Harper to leave him alone, his son has a lot of fear and she has to make a decision. He also has to decide if he should try again with Harper. The characters were well developed, even if I didn’t like some of them. This was a good second chance romance that had a lot of emotion in it. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Harper & the Single Dad by Amy Andrews, a Medical Romance and book one in A Sydney Central Reunion series, is a second chance romance, it deals heavily with the theme of ‘right person, wrong time,’ with unknown reasons for why a relationship that didn’t work out the first time can do so now.

After an abrupt breakup with Yarran, Harper fled to London and immersed herself in her career as a surgeon. When she returns to Sydney twelve years later, it almost feels as if things between her and Yarran haven’t changed at all; except that during that time of separation, Yarran has been married, widowed, and has a young son, Jarran. With Harper’s return, both she and Yarran reconnect and act as if the separation of the past twelve years did not happen. There are many obstacles each must overcome before they can get their HEA.

I enjoyed getting to know the two main characters, and I enjoyed getting their backstory. My problem with this book is that the two main characters just fall back together without any talking or working on their problems. I also wish there was a better understanding of the changes that affected Harper while she was in London making her ready to return and be open to being a true partner in a real relationship. As it stands, the reason why her relationship with Yarran works now is because she learns to trust in good things that happen to her, but we don’t really get to understand how she came to this breakthrough. In addition, this book seems to be missing a plot. I think the Ms. Andrews was thinking the backstory work helped, but it was not enough.

The caring and warmth between Harper and Yarran is believable, and it is obvious that they were in love; even though we never saw them fall in love on the page. The relationships between Yarran, his son Jarrah, his family, and Harper are appreciated as is the importance of Jarran’s mother, Marnie, not being ignored. This was an engaging romance between two people being reunited after a long time, who never fell out of love despite the twists and turns that life threw them in between. If you enjoy a light, fluffy read, then I recommend Harper & the Single Dad to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This was really short but I really liked it. Harper and Yarrens connection is still so strong after 12 years. All of her interactions with his son were so cute and I love them. I kind of wish it was longer because I need more of the three of them as a family.

I received an arc through netgalley.

Harper has come back to Australia after more than a decade in England. She is now the director of the Emergency Room. On her first day, she encounters the man that she had loved, but left behind when she moved to England. She was aware of what had happened in his life while she was gone because she continued to be friends with his extended group of friends. She knew he had married, was widowed and was now bringing up a little boy.

Both thought they had moved on. But they realized that they hadn't. Try as they might to be just friends, there was just too much chemistry. There is some sex, but it isn't overly explicit and it is appropriate for these 40 somethings finding each other again.

This is a very touching story. The book made me feel content and happy at the outcome. Definitely a keeper!

Loved this medical romance set in Sydney - it's a second chance 12 years later. Harper comes back home after 12 years away and runs into her old flame who is now a single dad right away in her ER. I really enjoyed these two chemistry- the plot lines- settings of Sydney-his friends and coworkers- her friends and steamy times on the trampoline!
I can’t wait to read more of this series after meeting her friends and more of Andrews medical romance!!

Harper is an emergency room physician and she's just returned to her hometown of Sydney to start a new job. She doesn't expect to see her ex on her first day back.

This was a neat little second chance romance. I have a definite weakness for those. Unfortunately, I didn't really connect with the characters. It seemed like they just came together with hardly a word and I barely got to know them. They both had interesting back stories that could have been built up more. Instead this was a very quick read.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for providing a free copy for review. This did not affect my rating.

After an abrupt breakup with Yarran, Harper fled to London and immersed herself in her career as a surgeon. When she returns to Sydney twelve years later, it almost feels like things between her and Yarran haven’t changed at all – except that Yarran has been married, widowed, and had a young son in that time.

I pick up Harlequin romances to read when I am in the mood for a simple, comforting romance, and this book did not fail me in that regard. A second chance romance, it deals heavily with the theme of ‘right person, wrong time,’ with genuine reasons for why a relationship that didn’t work out the first time can do so now.

I thought this was an engaging romance between two people being reunited after a long time, who never fell out of love despite the twists and turns that life threw them in between. The caring and warmth between Harper and Yarran came across clearly, so that you believed that they were in love even though we never saw them fall in love on the page. I also really enjoyed the relationships between Yarran, his son Jarrah, his family, and Harper, and appreciated that the importance of Jarran’s mother Marnie was not dismissed.

However, I did think the strong physical connection between Yarran and Harper which permeates their reunion felt clunky at times. While it was presented as a sort of impetus for them reconsider their relationship, I did wish it didn’t dominate their early scenes together – their emotional connection is believably strong but gets shafted until later into the book due to this. I also wish we got a better understanding of how Harper changed in London and why. As it stands, the reason why her relationship with Yarran works now is because she learns to trust in good things that happen to her, but we don’t really get to understand how she came to this breakthrough.
