Death by Chocolate Marshmallow Pie is a cosy mystery set in an adorable bakery in Maine. The descriptions of food were to die for and I loved that element of the book. The mystery was intriguing but it didn't grip me as much as I was expecting and I found myself pushing through to find out who the killer was. The story felt a little too long and the ending was a bit anti-climatic for my taste. It is a decent mystery that can be read as a standalone.

Sarah Graves was the one to introduce me to the genre of cozy mysteries. I learned to love and appreciate this genre through her novels. This novel did not disappoint at all. It is such an engaging and cozy read. The blend of small-town settings, interesting characters, and the mystery makes it an absolute page-turner. Jacobia "Jake" Tiptree is a relatable and strong character, and her adventures are both entertaining and intriguing. The plot is well-paced, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. Sarah is masterfully able to strike the balance between cozy and intriguing.

Death by Chocolate Marshmallow Pie (Death by Chocolate Mystery #6) was another great read by Sarah Graves. There are lots of delights in Eastport, Maine, including the delicious treats sold at The Chocolate Moose. It is a waterfront bakery run by Jacobia Jake Tiptree and Ellie White. There is a new bakery that is in town and proving that there can be too much of a good thing. Choco's owner, Brad Fairway, is pulling sneaky stunts that is trying to divery the Moose patrons to his store. Ellie finally contronts him about his tactics, unfortunately he is found dead the next day. The weapons just happens to be a gun owned by Ellie and she is charged with the crime. Jake and Ellie sift through all Brad's connections and think they are getting close to the actual murderer. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery set in a small coastal town in Maine. In the story, the MCs stumble across a dead body and have to prove that one of them wasn't the murderer. I loved the audiobook and hearing the Maine accents for some of the characters was great fun. This was my first book from this series, and I plan to go back and start from the beginning. I want to thank the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for giving me an e-copy of this book, in return for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Dreamscape Media for the early listen. The story was easy to predict (that's the fun thing about cozy mysteries, love love love) but still enjoyed listening and reading. The characters were all likable. Narrator did a great job telling the story and giving each character their own voice.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an audiobook arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I just do not seem to be able to get into this book. I don't love the narration and for a book with "death" in the title I feel like I should be getting hooked but it doesn't seem to be happening. I might try again a different time but because I don't absolutely hate it , for now, this is a dnf from me at about the 10% mark.

I enjoyed the audiobook overall, the storyline followed a similar style used in almost all cosy mysteries of the MC being a suspect in the murder and having to find the killer to prove their innocence. It was enjoyable if you want something to listen to on a slow day that doesn't require much thought. Characters were likeable but not ones I connected to, still enjoyed the story.

This book was Amazing! I loved the mystery and the characters are well done. This book kept me entertained and I couldn’t figure out the killer. I would highly recommend this book to everyone!

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. The characters were okay. I honestly didn't click with any of them and I feel like this story could have been cut in half. Way too long. A lot of nothing happens and the main character is trying to solve a murder mystery and she is literally the worst at it. She gets caught by the cops or by someone sneaking around every single time. I don't like that the author but bad language in the novel also. Just an okay story.

Jacobia “Jake” Tiptree and Ellie White Eastport, Maine run The Chocolate Moose, selling delicious treats. A new bakery, Choco’s, has opened in the island village and the competitor has a nasty disposition, spreading false rumors to ruin Jacobia and Ellie’s business. Having had enough, Ellie confronts Brad Fairway in an attempt to convince him to stop his nasty tactics. When Brad is found dead the next day Ellie becomes the prime suspect in the murder.
The evidence against Ellie begins to mount when the murder weapon is a gun that belongs to Ellie and was kept in her car. It is up to Jake and Ellie to find the real culprit and keep Ellie out of jail.
This is the first book in this series that I have read/listened to and it took me a little while to get into the story. Although the appropriate amount of background information is given throughout the book, I always wondered what I had missed in the characters’ pasts. I did enjoy the book and recommend it to those familiar with the series. I recommend catching up with the series and not jumping into the series this late. I am planning on going back to read from the beginning because Jake’s story sounds interesting.

This one was just okay for me. I wasn’t overly invested in the characters. The plot was fine and it flowed well but it just seemed a little too long.

The Death by Chocolate Mystery is one of the series I keep up with as I enjoy the characters and the various plots Sarah Graves has introduced. In Death by Chocolate Marshmallow Pie, Jacobia "Jake" Tiptree and Ellie White, who run the local bakery, The Chocolate Moose, are having business difficulties when a new bakery comes to town, Choco's. With the festival coming, will it bring enough business to The Chocolate Moose as Choco's is undercutting all their prices and pulling sneaky stunts to divert Moose patrons to his own shop. When Ellie has enough she confronts Choco's owner, Brad Fairway, so when he is found dead, she is a suspect. Evidence piles up including that the weapon that killed him belonged to Ellie, so Jake and Ellie begin their own investigation to find the real killer.

I love the characters in this series. As I have read them all, I know all about their history, ups and downs and backstories. Jake's family play a large role in her life and I love how they ground her. The motive for Brad to try to put The Chocolate Moose out of business is revealed, but that makes Ellie look even more guilty. There are lots of twists and a tie to Jake's past in this one. I liked how the investigation played out. At one point Ellie is in danger and Sam, Jake's son helps to save her. There is an action packed climax and reveal that bring this book to a satisfying conclusion. This is a book that can be read as a standalone, but because there is a lot of character development and the series is so enjoyable, I recommend you read them all in order. The audiobook was narrated by Susan Boyce. She narrates many cozy mysteries and I enjoy her easy listening voice, with her expression and voices.

Jacobia, known as Jake to her friends, had a past, a past she drove away from just as fast as she could, what seemed like a lifetime ago. A part of that past showed up across the street from her chocolate shop, the Chocolate Moose, as a competitor chocolate shop. It all starts with competitor who had plans to run the Chocolate Moose out of business with manufactured pastries and rock bottom prices so he can put in condos. Guess who dies and guess who is the top suspect…If you haven’t read a Death by Chocolate mystery yet, this one will give you plenty of background to keep you intrigued and craving a good bit of chocolate. Between the murder, the mystery of the locked glove box, a missing artist, and a colorful composition of suspects you are hooked. If that isn’t enough to entice you, the action on this one is just as high as the sugar content in marshmallows. This one is a wild and crazy ride that pushes the cozy boundaries, and makes for a story that has you on the edge of your seat. This one might just be the series end as it seems to tie up a number of loose threads. Since I was listening to the audio I am not sure if the recipe for the Chocolate Marshmallow Pie is included so I am on the hunt for one, wish me luck!

Set in Eastport, Maine. The Chocolate Moose is a bakery run by Ellie and her friend Jake (Jacobea) who previously had a shady past in money laundering. A new shop called Chocco’s has opened over the road from their bakery, run by a man called Brad Fairway - he has been spreading lies about The Chocolate Moose to try and steal their customers. So when Brand turns up dead and they stumble upon the body, Ellie is quickly under suspicion. Then a local artist who is known to have been involved with Fairway disappears. Can Ellie and Jake solve the mystery?

A quaint and cosy murder mystery set in a small town, this is part 6 of a book series, but works fine as a stand alone as they cover some of the backstory. It was an entertaining read, but nothing particularly blew me away.

The narrator was pretty good, they had a nice reading voice and were clear, some odd pronunciations though.

I just jumped into this cozy mystery series at book 6, and it was pretty good! I didn't feel lost at all starting in the middle. I loved the friendship between the two main characters and I'm a sucker for a New England setting.

I listened to the audio version. The narrator was great, but spoke very slowly. I found that speeding the narration up to 1.5 made it sound much more conversational to me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced audio copy.

This is the first in the Death by Chocolate series I’ve read. But I enjoyed it enough to go back and read the first five books. This is a good cozy mystery book and I found myself invested in the story from the very beginning. My one issue is the use of the word “G.D.” As far as I’m concerned, there is no place for that in this type of book. The characters are well developed and I appreciated the unique twist of the main character having a criminal past. But this added a little bit of spice and twist to the story. I’m looking forward to another adventure with the characters in Eastport.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed the audiobook!! Though this was #6 in the series I was able to understand what Jack was running from. They went through her backstory a bit at the beginning.

I enjoyed the main characters of Jacobia “Jake” Tiptree and Ellie White who run The Chocolate Moose in Eastport Maine.

Jake and her son Sam had settled here when Sam was very young after fleeing from some “shady things” that Jake had gotten herself into in the city. They are now settled here along with Jake’s mom and dad and Sam’s family now that he is grown.

Jake and Ellie have been through a lot together, from home repair to homicide investigation. They are just getting ready for the town’s biggest event of the year – the local art fair!! While The Chocolate Moose has been doing well, new competition has come in the form of another bakery that charges lower prices!! Jack knows the owner, Brad Fairway, and isn’t sure what he is doing in Eastport?

When Brad is found dead and the weapon belongs to Ellie, the cat and mouse chase is on!!

We will follow the characters as they try to solve the mystery of who really killed Brad and why.

I enjoyed the twists that came towards the end of the book and the secrets that were revealed. My one complaint is that I think the editing could have been a little tighter. There were sections in the middle of the book that did drag a bit.

All in all it was a convincing cozy mystery with characters I enjoyed.

I received a copy of the audiobook from the publisher and Dreamscape media through NetGalley. It was my pleasure to review this entertaining audiobook. Perfect for a long car ride!

I really enjoy this series. I started with the first the Home Repair books and then was glad to see the series "continue" with the Death by Chocolate Series. Jake and Ellie have moved on from just focusing on Home Repair to running their store. I love the characters in this series and the eccentric characters. It has been fun watching them grow and wondering not only what will happen next but who it will happen to. .
