‘Palazzo’ by Danielle Steel takes place in Venice, Rome and Paris. As always Ms. Steel has created wonderful characters and a hard to put down book. I love how her main character Cosima Saverio is a strong, independent business woman and dedicated sister to her two younger siblings she raised when her parents died so young. Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This story kept my interest until the end. I would like a sequel following them to the next generation, especially the two brothers. A good read was written by Danielle Steel.

Hard at times but oh so worth it!

In this incredible heart punch book from my very first romance author over 30 years ago now we get exactly what we expect from her. Cosima and Oliver went through so essentially at the hands of Luca and Max. What a fantastic read. The authors writing flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: After her parents perish in a tragic accident, Cosima Saverio assumes leadership of her family’s haute couture Italian leather brand. While navigating the challenges of running a company at twenty-three, Cosima must also maintain the four-hundred-year-old family palazzo in Venice and care for her younger siblings: Allegra, who survived the tragedy that killed their parents with scars and a spinal injury, and Luca, who has a penchant for wild parties, pretty women, and poker tables.

Cosima navigates her personal and professional challenges with a wisdom beyond her years, but her success has come at a cost: Her needs are always secondary. She’s married to the business, and her free time is given to those who rely on her . . . until she meets Olivier Bayard, the founder of France’s most successful ready-to-wear handbag company. A brief conversation on her palazzo’s terrace turns into a tour of the Saverio workshop, and, fifteen years after her parents’ deaths, Cosima has found a confidant.

Now the business is financially stable and generating enough income for the Saverios to live comfortably. Then Luca loses a hefty sum at the casino, and his debt must be repaid with money or his life. Cosima, forced to bail him out, is given an impossible choice: List the palazzo, sell a third of the family business, or let Luca fend for himself. But is there another way to save everything she has fought for before it goes up in flames?

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Cosima Saverio is the breadwinner of her family after her parents died in a tragic accident that also paralyzed her little sister. When her brother loses a ton of money gambling, she makes the heartrending choice to sell the palazzo that has been in her family for centuries.

Let me save you some time. If you want to read a Danielle Steel about a family home, read Thurston House instead. It's much better.

When her parents perish in a tragic accident, Cosima Saverio takes over as head of the family and at the family business, a luxury haute couture Italian leather brand. Struggling to process her grief, run the family business as well as help her two siblings: Allegra, who survived the accident that took their parents lives and left her with a spinal injury and her brother, Luca, who prefers to party, women and not make anything in his life. Add in taking care of a four-hundred-year-old Palazzo that has been in their family forever in Venice. At twenty-three, Cosima is struggling but she survives and manages to keep things in balance at the expense of her personal life. But things take a turn when after many years married to her job, she meets Olivier Baynard who is the founder and owner of France’s successful ready to wear handbag company A brief conversation turns into a tour of the Saverio workshop and that turns into a friendship that just might be what Cosima needs at this juncture of her life.
Life has a way of throwing curveballs and when Cosima’s brother, Luca, loses a significant sum of money, she has to decide if bailing her wastrel brother once again or maybe this time let him fend for himself for the first time in his life. When the stakes become even higher, Cosima will need the strength to make the right decisions that will not cause her to lose everything she has worked so hard for since twenty-three.

PALAZZO is a tale of family, tragedy and resilience wrapped up in the pages of the latest Danielle Steel book. This author is a hit or miss with me, but PALAZZO delivers on keeping my attention and kept me glued to the pages. Maybe it was the complex cast of characters to the exotic settings of Italy and France that kept me entertained but overall, this book hit all the high nots for me as a reader. The setting is as lush as the Italian landscapes to characters that had me rooting for Cosima to find her way after a tragedy in her family. But what worked for me was how one woman’s life was turned inside out at such a young age and she found the strength to move on, to keep things moving in the right direction, maybe at the expense of her personal life, but it gives the reader a sense of who this main character is as well as her relationship with her siblings. I did enjoy Allegra and how the author doesn’t shy away from her injuries and makes her an upbeat person dealing with a disability that is now part of her life. I liked how Allegra was described in the book and kept me entertained with her bubbly personality. I really was rooting for Cosima to see the light in regard to her brother and in the end, it was a satisfying resolution on that aspect.

PALAZZO delivers family drama, and tragedy, resilience, love and more all wrapped within its pages. For this latest Danielle Steel book, I really recommend it if you enjoy family dynamics, entertaining and complex characters that feel real within the pages and issues that deal with any family amid tragedy and family dynamics.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement.

Cosima runs a business that has been in her family for generations that makes handmade upscale leather handbags, second only to Hermes. She lives in Rome but is also very tied to Venice as her family has a store and palazzo there. She has a brother, Lucca, and a sister, Allegra. Lucca is a carefree irresponsible gambler. Although he does not work, he is supported by Cosima with an allowance. However, his gambling debts have him always in trouble. Allegra is a designer for the company. When they were younger, their mother, father and Allegra were in a tragic boating accident. The mother and father died and Allegra was left with a spinal cord injury and is now wheelchair bound.
Olivier has a company based in Paris that also produces handbags of a lesser quality and on a larger scale. His bags are in many large department stores. He was married twice when he was younger and has 2 sons that are as different as night in day. Max works for him, but has a gambling problem, and always feel his pay is inadequate. His other son is a successful artist.
Max and Lucca meet at a gambling establishment. Lucca's gambling loss changes the course of the lives of the family. Max and Lucca conspire a scheme to defraud insurance on the palazzo by arson. The results of this liaison affect everyone.
The lives of several of the characters in this book are enriched by love. It was a delightful read. I love Italy and the setting of this book makes me lustful for the area.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Palazzo by Danielle Steel is another fantastic romance from the queen of romance herself! Anything this author writes, I will read! The setting for this story is throughout Europe in Paris, Rome, and Venice. While you know what type of story you are going to get with this author and it can be predictable, it makes for the perfect book because of it. I loved the family ancestry of the story. Who doesn't love designer handbags and Fashion week!

Palazzo starts out like a typical Danielle Steel novel. Happy, successful family, involved in business. Parents die, leaving oldest child to care for younger siblings. Set in Italy and traveling to Rome, Cosima must now take care of her siblings, Luca and Allegra as well as the family business. Luca is an entitled brat who feels that Cosima must get him out of any situation that he gets himself into. Allegra becomes like her daughter and Cosima nurtures her and she also becomes involved in the family business.

As luck would have it, Cosima meets Olivier, who is interested in her both personally and professionally. He has two sons, who are integral parts of Luca's and Allegra's life, both positively and negatively. Luca and Allegra define nature v. nurture in their upbringings.

Palazzo is the story of Casima, an independent businesswoman from Italy who has inherited a haute couture company that specialize in leather. Like any business, her company has seen its ups and downs, and she finds herself at a crossroads where she has to make some sacrifices. To make ends meet, she feels forced into selling her family's palazzo. But before the deal goes through, tragedy strikes when her selfish brother tries to commit insurance fraud and nearly brings down the entire family.

Caisma meets her match in Luca, a successful businessman who shows her that there's more to life than just work. Luca wants to go into business with Casima, but she's reluctant to give up her independence and sell the company that has been in her family for generations.

This is a briskly paced novel that made for an evening of relaxing reading. It's not particularly deep, but the characters and story are interesting enough to make the pages turn.

Loved the settings of Rome, Paris and more in Europe. The first couple of chapters, setting up the storyline and characters were very slow but once I got past those, I loved the story, as I usually do with Danielle Steel novels! I loved the "bad guys" in this story, that were family members. Just a new added dimension to her stories. Loved to see them get their due!

This particular book was definitely what a DS reader is wanting. For me personally it was not one of my favorite stories. It lacked depth and was repetitive. The couture line of design doesn’t interest me. It was a family saga of sorts in the fact that The Saverio family has maintained a leather brand company for several generations. It had a few intertwined things happening but my interest was not held. I will say I’m a huge fan of her works since my teenage years. Ty #NetGalley for the ARC . All opinions are my own.

I always enjoy Danielle Steel books when they revolve around fashion. Cosima and her siblings Stella and Luca run the family leather goods business in Italy after their parents died suddenly in a boating accident. But all is not well with the family. Her brother Luca likes to gamble and lost a large amount of money that forces the family to sell their palazzo in Venice. Before it is sold, the house catches fire and is badly damaged. Among all of this, Cosima meets Olivier who owns a handbag business in Paris. They hit it off, but Cosima is still in love with her older married family friend. Lots of family drama and love in this story mixed in with fashion. One of the author’s better recent books.

This was a great read. It showed that what ever life throws at you, you can get through it. It also shows that once you are on the wrong path that no matter what happens to you that sometimes you just can't be a better person.

This is a Women's Fiction. This book I was really looking forward to because I love how Danielle Steel puts so much emotion in her books. I really love reading emotionally hard hitting books. This book just was a let down for me. I could not make myself care for any of the characters, and I saw the setup for what this book was doing. I just really did not like how the beginning was put together. I ended up putting the book down around the 30% mark, and I just never want to pick it up again which tells me it was not a book for me. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Delacorte Press) or author (Danielle Steel) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

A typical Danille Steele novel, Cosima has been running the empire for fifteen years after a tragic accident took the lives of both her parents. Allegra takes her life in a wheelchair in her stride as well as wanting to become more involved in the successful leather brand. Luca doesn’t care at all and spends his time gambling and wooing beautiful women. The mix of children with the hardworking and at least one very spoiled entitled child. Oliver Bayard runs a middle range handbag business out of Paris. He has two sons. Max who is somewhat like Luc, and Basile a street artist of some renown. Oliver’s always admired Saverio handbags. He meets Cosimo at a party given by the rich Texans who’d rented the Savario Palazzo. That will only be the first crossover of others in their lives as the plot develops. It's a story of perseverance, taking risks, and finding love in unexpected places. Switching between Rome, Venice and Paris, this tale depicts the struggles of three siblings to survive in the mad rush of haute couture life.

PALAZZO
Danielle Steel, author
Women’s Fiction

When Cosmo Saverio unexpectedly inherits control of her family’s business, it includes taking care of her two younger siblings. It is not what she signed up for when she was being groomed as heir and trained to take over. There are huge challenges that follow in both her personal and private life.

This book is full of a little bit of everything, romance, arson, drugs, and gambling. I think Danielle Steel was at her best when writing this one. Usually her books are more romance based this one seems more like family fiction. Plus some twists and turns along the way. I would give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Palazzo by Danielle Steel is vintage Steel in its format and style of story telling. It is primarily narrative with a little dialogue here and there. It’s female protagonist is Cosima Saverio who is the heal of a small but mighty company that makes expensive handbags. She is really the only competition that Hermes has. She has a brother and sister, who are part owners, but she is in charge. Her grandfather would be horrified. The male protagonist is Olivier Bayard, the head of a company who makes much more accessible accessories. He would love to be in the position that Saverio was in but it was not to be. He had met Cosima and had liked her but her felt there was a barrier to furthering the relationship. He was correct. She had had a nine year affair with their attorney: a man over 30 years her senior. She loved him and he her, but had called off the affair three years earlier. So she lived her life until her brother Luca, who willful and decadent offered his share of Saverio to Olivier through Olivier’s son, Max, who was a dissolute as Luca. Things escalated from there, on all fronts.

Wonderful characters, all, and well-drawn, even the not-so-great ones. There is too much to go into so you must read this yourself. Cosima is very set in her ways, despite being only 38. Her friendship with Olivier helps break her out of her rut. Her sister falls in love and it is a cause for celebration. Luca and Max get caught for their misdeeds and spend some time in prison. There is a clear plot here was well as several love stoies, well thought out by Steel as always. It is a feel-good novel but it has so much more depth than that. I loved it.
