I love to hear and read compelling stories of strong women stepping into their power and purpose--I think this is a great example. How Sweet It Is was inspiring, both for what the author has overcome and what she has accomplished. I will be watching to see what she tackles next. Good read!

This book was incredibly interesting. I feel like I learned a lot even though I feel like this space in the book world can be pretty saturated. I loved it because I think Winsome Earle-Sears is an up and comer in the GOP.

It was a joy to read How Sweet It Is by Winsome Earle-Sears, the first Black woman elected to a statewide office in Virginia. I don't pick up a lot of memoirs, but not knowing much about her, except for the number of "firsts" she achieved by taking office, I was curious to learn more about Sears's life. This was inspiring and easy to read. Politics is such a mess right now, so I'm sure in recommending this, half of the audience will turn away for being on the "wrong side," but it would be an opportunity missed to hear a story of a life well lived.

Special thanks to Center Street for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for a review through NetGalley.
